Mixed feelings. Overall, not bad, characters had some depth, dialogue wasn’t terrible, no AI vibes (hate that I have to consider that) and I always want to support new wlw sports authors. However, it felt like a lot of the big plot points of this book were glossed over. Like the whole conflict originally is 1) that andi is stuck with Sean and can’t break up with him bc her dad (so much so that she gets in a fight with Sean and her brother calls her and tells her to handle it) 2) andi HATES beck for unknown reasons related to Skylar 3) beck has a ton to work to balance and is playing on the literal men’s team since her team was dissolved. Then, Andi breaks up with Sean off page, there are like no consequences from her family or Sean for a WHILE. Andi “forgives” beck for being the one Skylar cheated with but like it’s not like beck knew?? And the Skylar plotline was mentioned in depth once. Beck seems to do her work fine and is tired but like, is somehow keeping up with it all and playing with men and lives with her professional hockey playing friend/sister who was drafted already somehow even tho the pwhl doesn’t work like that. Idk the beginning just built up these conflicts and then they were resolved off page or very briefly. I’ve also said this with many a wlw sports book review, but I dislike plot lines moving around the idea that women’s sports are completely unknown, and have to “prove” themselves, not that this book really did that but like, her playing on the boys team and earning their respect was so bleh to me. I couldn’t give less of a fuck about what the men’s team thinks about women’s playing. idk

- [ ] The team loves her but we never really saw interactions aside from clay
- [ ] Why is every goal scored within the first 30 seconds of the period or like 2 are scored within 10 seconds
- [ ] Girls team won championship? And still got shut down? They won championship with only 1 player who was worth keeping? And is Taylor older? How did she get drafted already?
- [ ] Oh brother. Why does she also have to go to the Olympics??? Like I’m annoyed. Also hate a real person name mention
