Riley’s brutal attack remains as much a mystery as the security leak she’s been hired to trace – but her arrangement with Dirk is what has her feeling the most confused. At times he is remarkably sweet, but his tendency to try to control every aspect of her life is threatening to drive her mad. She knows he’s just trying to keep her safe, but she doesn’t need his domineering presence hovering over her.
Especially since the relationship is marked with an expiration date.
She keeps reminding herself that he’s not Mr. Right – he’s Mr. Right Now – but can she really believe herself? The best possible thing for both of them is for her to find the leak and finish the job quickly, before whatever they have gets too complicated to bear…no matter how much danger she has to put herself in to do so.
The last thing Riley wants is heartbreak. But the last thing Dirk wants is to endanger her life.
And if she can’t accept at least some of his help, she just might lose more than her independence.
I'm only writing this because it is marginally better than book 1 in terms of incorrect facts, but it still needs a editor and a proofreader... there are missing words, typos, etc. and the plot is all over the place. I also want credit for having invested time into this not so good story.
Riley is finally found in an alley after getting attacked, she's got Dirk (still hate that name) in over protective mode and they're really no closer to finding the hacker than we thought. Zeke is still creepy, we're not sure what to make of Chad or Luzy and Joan gets a date or several with Kent... what was once referred to as Trent because the author can't keep her characters straight.
There are still too many "WTF" moments caused by poor writing.
I was enjoying this book until the end,and I actually paid for it because I wanted to know the ending of it! Guess what? A freaking cliffhanger, so how does it ends? Guess I will never know unless the next one is free. So that why three stars.
Something more needed to happen to move the plot along. It has become tiring with all the repetitive self talk by both Riley and Dirk. The insecurity in both of them doesn't match up with strong independent people they profess to be.
