It's been such a long time since I read historical romance. Yesterday I was in the mood and I found this series of novellas on my TBR and I decided to give it a go! I have enjoyed K. Webster in the past so I was pretty excited about it, and she did not disappoint. This woman tries everything and she is goooooood!
I really enjoyed the Becoming Her series. It's all around three sisters and how they find their happy ever afters with their handsome men. There was lots of sexy moments, some drama and emotional times too, so it was perfect for me!
Becoming Lady Thomas - 5 'Honeysuckle' Stars! This was definitely my favorite of the three stories: Elisabeth is waiting for her beloved return so she can marry him but everything changes when she discovers her father has a debt with Lord Thomas. Jasper Thomas has been obsessed with her since he saw her and he will not stop until seducing her! This was lighter on the drama and stronger on the emotions so that's why I loved it even more. And who complains about a hot lord, am I right? ;)
Becoming Countess Dumont - 4.5 'Dear Wife' Stars! Well, this one was extremely different from the first one, that's for sure! I started hating both MCs because Edith was such a bad sister to Elisabeth and Alexander behaves like a complete jerk. They have a marriage of convenience and both have lovers the first 6 months of their marriage. The thing is: they are attracted to each other since the first moment! I do not get their behavior sometimes but when they fall in love, they are absolutely adorable and sexy!
Becoming Mrs. Benedict - 4 'My Free Angel' Stars! This is the last story and it's about the youngest Merriweather sister and Alexander's younger brother. Ella is taking care of her father and suddenly she finds herself kidnapped by William (Elisabeth's ex-fiancée). Ella has to deal with difficult circumstances but she became a kick-ass heroine! She definitely gets her revenge against William and if that also involves falling in love with Alcott, the protective and sexy man that will do everything to have her, who am I to complain? However, I have to say, it was the story that I enjoyed less because being a novella, I expected to have more moments between the MCs. But the ones they have, they are insanely good!
So, my rating for the Becoming Her series (as a whole) is 4.5 STARS because I enjoyed these love three stories so much! I missed HR and this was a great way to go back to it! It was a fantastic experience full of emotional and super-sexy moments! If you are into erotic historical romance, I highly recommend chekcing out these novellas!
In Becoming Lady Thomas, Elisabeth has fallen in love with the neighbor boy and they have plans to marry. However, he and her sister go off to university and their courtship is put on hold for four years. When he returns, they expect to pick up where they left off, but due to unforeseen circumstances, and the possessive glance of a nobleman, plans change and Lissa is set to marry someone else. At first resistant, which was completely understandable, Jasper's patience, determination, and outright sexiness ultimately wore her down and she soon realized that her happily ever after was always with him. With a bit of drama and a lot of hot moments, this story was deliciously entertaining.
In Becoming Countess Dumont, I didn't expect to like it. I had already learned to hate Elisabeth's sister, Edith, in the previous book after her disgusting betrayal and had little hope that she'd be able to redeem herself in my eyes. No doubt, this girl was a hoe. She was cunning and manipulative and came off as heartless. But really, she was looking for someone to love her. Even her lack of loyalty for her sister came down to a search for someone to care for her. When Jasper's best friend offers her a marriage of convenience, a relationship in name only, she jumps at the chance to better her station. For six months, they still haven't consummated their marriage and have taken lovers. One bad encounter has them both opening their eyes to what could be between them and I got to see another side to Edith and while I still didn't like her, I wasn't actively hating her either. The author made me enjoy the intimacy that developed between Edith and Alexander and I couldn't resist a few chuckles at their banter. Even when they were being antagonistic towards each other, I was charmed and in the end I found myself smiling at this story. Go figure!
In Becoming Mrs. Benedict, Alexander's younger brother gets his own shot at love with Ella, who is the baby sister of Elisabeth and Edith. This story was a lot darker than the first two and went down a path I wasn't expecting. Ella is very much alone, taking care of her dying father, and living out some silly fantasies in her mind. She even romanticizes the man who professed his love for Lissa and ended up sleeping with Edith. Why she thought this guy was marriage material was beyond me, but I guess it fed into the mania of this story. William is very much a villain and her juvenile idol worship is no more. Ella is forced to make some hard choices and they scar her. However, the love of a good man, Alcott, just might be the medicine to heal her broken soul. I loved how the author didn't have them just jump into anything so soon after 'the ordeal'. Everything flowed organically and watching these two navigate their way to true love was so worthwhile. This story ended up competing for first place in my heart when it comes to this series and won by a landslide. Who doesn't love a dashing hero and a slightly unhinged, not such a damsel at all, heroine?
I read these books each as they were individually released and am adding those reviews here for the boxset!
Becoming Lady Thomas -- 5 Delicious Melt Your Kindle Stars!!!!
Okay so this is the second romance genre K Webster has lured me into!! The woman is a writing machine and wow is she freaking good at it!!! I haven’t read a book from her yet that I don’t love and this book is definitely no exception.
Elisabeth is a young and innocent woman who has been in love with William since she was just a young girl. She knows that when he returns from university they will marry and live happily ever after. After all he loves her too and they were meant to be…. Unfortunately for her, her father goes and throws a monkey wrench in the plan. Said wrench being Lord Jasper Thomas and my oh my is he incredibly lickable.
So now Elisabeth has a choice, remain loyal to William and live the life she has always wanted or succumb to Jasper and his seductive ways…..
“It’s alright honeysuckle. I promised I would hold you. What I just gave to you was a treat, nothing more. I didn’t expect anything in return. From the moment I laid eyes on you, the desire to taste you has been overwhelming.”
Ya I’m not going to tell you how the story ends, but I will tell you, you definitely want to one-click this book and enjoy every last minute of it….because if not you will be missing out!!!
Becoming Countess Dumont -- K Webster rocks historical romance!
I am not going to lie, when I finished Becoming Lady Thomas I had absolutely no love for Edith and I thought Alexander was nothing more than a pompous and arrogant player, albeit an extremely sexy, pompous and arrogant player. I went into this story with my mind made up on how I thought it should go, but because Ms. Webster is so very good at what she does, she changed my mind before I even knew it was happening. FYI, I liked her story way better than the one I had formed in my head ☺.
Edith and Alexander are just two really misunderstood individuals, with serious trust issues, but somehow they come together and form an unbreakable bond and you will find yourself routing for them. I know I was and I hated her at the beginning of the story. They actually become kinda cute together and when they get together between the sheets make sure you have a fan handy!
“You’re absolutely stunning tonight, Edith. I haven’t been able to take my eyes from you most of the night. My hands are eager to caress your sensitive flesh that’s hidden under your dress. I’m practically watering at the mouth at the very idea of sampling what I had the opportunity of pleasuring earlier this afternoon. Dear wife, please let me make good on my promise behind closed doors later.”
This was another great read for me and I can’t wait until the youngest Merriweather sister gets her story!!!
Becoming Mrs. Benedict -- Fabulous Ending to a Fantastic Series!
Ella is the youngest sister of the Merriweather clan and as such gets treated much like a baby. She is left to care for her father who happens to be on death’s door while her sisters are off living their happily everafters. Well obviously she wants her happily ever after too……. So when William Benedict comes knocking on her door regardless of his past relationships with her sisters, she thinks why not?
What I loved most about this story was that Ella is way beyond her time with her attitude and mannerisms and in being that way makes her character absolutely fabulous. K Webster stays true to the historical romance genre, but at the same time delivers a strong and very feisty leading lady.
Our hero totally understands his woman on every level and loves her the way she needs to be loved and for that we love him all that much more….
“I want so much more than to court you, he growls so close to my lips that I can nearly taste the wine upon his. I want to kiss you, Ella, I want to touch you. I want to fucking taste you so bad it makes me crazy.”
I absolutely loved the way this story ended. Thanks for another fantastic story, K. Webster.
first off I want to add that I was given a copy for an honest review. and since I'm being honest I'll just say I was never into historical romance..... until now. this series is so awesome! it was seriously like Author K went back in time and wrote this. the speech the clothes and the entire setting just seemed to fit perfectly. all of the characters are awesome. each woman is her own even though they are sisters. my favorite is Ella. she's a tough little bad ass! and her man alcott. omg! smoking hot! jasper and Elizabeth are amazing together. his dirty mouth is something that all women should read. Lol as always author k kicks ass and takes names with her writing. I truly believe she can't write anything bad! this is a 5 star series and I'd give it 10 if I could. way to go K Webster you kill it AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!

This series has it all!! I loved all three of these books and all for different reasons. I love that they are all sisters but their stories all vary. This series has the alpha overload and the time era of swoon worthy gentlemen. But once those gentlemen are behind doors can they keep up the facade. I also loved the female characters and how they pushed the envelope for this time period. If you want to read historical romance that has steam and the K Webster twists than these books are definitely for you.
What happens when everything you've been dreaming of gets ripped out from under you? When Mr.Merriweather makes a decision that puts the life of one of his daughters up for grabs, who do you think this successful man will choose as his payment? Theirs Edith, just home from college, gorgeous, sophistacated, the perfect fit for any man. Elisabeth, who's younger but still the middle child, shes very much in love and in her eyes the least beautiful of the three, she considers herself lucky to have caught Williams eye. And then their is Ella, the youngest, certainly not old enough to be taken from her home. Jasper is not what any of them expected. He's had his eyes on one of the girls since the deal was struck. Can he make her fall in love with him too, or are arranged marriages doomed from the start? Watch as Elisabeth battles her heart and finds herself and the truth. Will her heart stay true to the man she's loved all her life or will she find love with the man who stole her away from everything she knows, or at least she thought she knew. I for one am TEAM JASPER!!!
K has done it again!! We met Edith in the first book in the series but we don't really know her. I don't think she knew herself really. Agreeing to become Countess Dumont was one of the greatest things for both Edith and Alexander. When we first met Edith I hated her. I didn't think redemtion would be possible for the evil whore. Shame on me for doubting the mad skills of K Webster. I grew to understand and love Edith. Alexander was harsh and seemed to be careless when it came to the feelings of his new bride. When they make the treck back home to convince his Father is when they learn that the hidden truths are so much greater than all their lies. Now that the two have a taste of what true love really is will they choose to discover it together?
Becoming Mrs.Benedict is my favorite of this series and im bummed that it's over. I really enjoyed the historic aspect, I want to believe love this fierce and powerful existed for people back then and will continue to grace the lives of those who deserve it.
Ella Merriweather is the baby of the family, and so everyone treats her as such. They think of her as the innocent, weak, little Ella. This story will prove not only to her family but herself and anyone who knows her that shes the strongest Merriweather woman their is. Through circumstances out of her control she finds herself caring for her very ill father alone and bearing this knowledge on only her shoulders. Until the day the man she thought would be hers even after he loved her sister showed up. She thinks hes there to save her, but she's so very very wrong. Will she follow her dreams of becoming Mrs.Benedict or will the man who was sworn to stay away be there to break through the darkness that threatens to take away the last shred of the Ella everyone knows. Ella grows into a such a beautiful strong soul and follows the beat of her own drum. She's a survivor.
Alcott's brother just married the oldest of the Merriweather women. He's been sworn away from Ella. That possibly makes him want her more, or it could just be her. He doesn't feel himself worthy, yet. He makes a promise to become a man that would be MORE than enough. He proves this when he catches his falling angel and loving her back to life.
LOVE THIS SERIES!!! Best historical romance I've ever read!!!
No Spoilers...This is a box set and covers all three stories Becoming Lady Thomas, Becoming Countess Dumont, and Becoming Mrs. Benedict. All three stories are told from multiple POV's. The stories are a little on the shorter side than I expected but they packed a punch. I found myself smiling throughout all 3 books, and at times laughing out loud. The books allow for the female leads to be flirtatious in a historical setting. This is a different take on most historical romance. I liked that the females were feisty, vulnerable and secure in their sexuality. I loved that the men were cavemen (at times), Loving, and protective. These are not books that are going to make you cry or necessarily gasp, but they are definitely feel good books. The little bit of drama that was used in each book was almost a backdrop to the romance. Good writing and good box set. Well worth the read, and well worth the money.
I loved this series! I'm not usually a huge fan of historical romance but I thoroughly enjoyed these. If you love a quick read and your men to talk dirty then these are the books or you! Be warned though, If you're looking for your typical historical with the prim and proper characters, This isn't the book for you but I would give it a try anyway, You never know... You may actually like the cookies on the dark side after all. ;)
K Webster doesn't seem to able to write a bad book. I loved this series. The books follow the lives of three sisters and what happens to them when they are set to be married. In a time when arranged marriages were a thing and there was little to be said from the lady. It's great to read a book or rather books that while "erotic" are not completely just erotic, there is and actual storyline and all of the books follow along with the prior.
