Hitting the Apex #2
Downforce
It started at a masquerade ball …
All I needed to do was show up to the ball, give my perfectly rehearsed speech, and seal this new sponsorship deal for my brother.
It was supposed to be simple, but when the Phantom of the Opera lifts his mask, my heart sinks.
Not only is it not who I intended, it’s much worse.
Max Ferreira. My brother’s new F1 teammate … and biggest rival.
He’s nothing more than a flirt whose only interest in me is to get underneath my brother’s skin.
Max shouldn’t unravel me the way he does.
But I’m nothing if not loyal.
I don’t care how much his eyes light up when he sends me that crooked smile.
Or how carefully he listens, like no one else, when I talk about my true passions.
And, not even when he’s the one to encourage me to go after what I truly want out of life.
None of that is enough to make me disloyal to my family.
Doing so would break my own heart.
Or would it?
It started at a masquerade ball and ended with me falling for my brother’s biggest rival.

4.5⭐️ I really appreciated all of the dynamics in this story. Annalise and Max spent years disliking one another (or so we thought), only for them to discover that there was something else brewing beneath the surface. I really enjoyed their banter and chemistry.
This was a slow burn, but it didn’t drag. The pacing felt realistic because after years of disdain and essentially being rivals, an instalove romance wouldn’t have made much sense. I liked that we actually watched them dismantle the preconceived notions they had about one another and intentionally spend time building their relationship. I never had to wonder how they fell in love. Max definitely fell hard and first, but it didn’t take long for Annalise to catch up, despite her loyalty to her brother. I really loved the way she stood up for and protected Max, especially knowing that was something he lacked in his childhood.
The side relationships also added depth to the story and provided so much insight into how these characters came to be who they are. Max was a loner, struggling to come out from behind his father’s shadow while also dealing with his mother’s verbal abuse. Annalise was surrounded by love and family loyalty while simultaneously battling her own brain. Those experiences shaped their motivations and the way they interacted with the people around them.
One of my favorite things about this book, though, was the care taken with Annalise’s OCD. There’s a common misconception that OCD is simply liking things orderly or being afraid of germs, so I really appreciated seeing the different ways Annalise’s OCD manifested in her life, how it affected her family, and how she had to actively work against her own brain every day. I thought this aspect of her character was written very well and added another layer to her story.
My only complaints are that the last 15–20% of the book felt very fast and a little rushed compared to how fleshed out the rest of the story was. We also get lots of nods to Max’s Brazilian/British culture, but I didn’t feel that same attention was given to Annalise’s background. At one point, I honestly forgot that she was biracial until her mother was described as being Black.
Overall, this was another great installment in the Hitting the Alex series. I love this family and this author’s writing style, and I’m looking forward to the next installment. And I’m really hoping it’s Travis & Bree. 🤔

This is an outstanding enemies to lovers story set in the fast paced circus that is Formula 1.
We start at a masquerade ball where Annalise has a lovely time dancing with Max who she thinks is the person she’s supposed to be courting to close a sponsorship deal for her brother. The mistaken identity when discovered, leads to their first showdown in this story, but not the first in their history.
Max has a long standing rivalry with Annalise’s brother Travis, and has just joined the Amato Racing Team where Travis won the previous years World Drivers Championship and where Max’s father was a champion before losing his life in an on track accident many years ago.
Both Max and Annalise are engaging, complex characters. Max has deep seated insecurities around being compared to his father by the press and especially his mother (evil woman!), Annalise has OCD which is woven into the story and her character in very realistic, seamless way. Their relationship is a slow burn one. Their interactions and dialogue along the way, fabulous. The way they see each other and support and bring out the best in each other, makes for great reading. Their romance, conducted in secret, was always going to be explosive when discovered!
I’m a big F1 fan so for me them navigating their way around the world to the various races was always going to be a highlight, but the racing doesn’t overpower the off track action, so not being a follower of the sport shouldn’t in any way diminish your enjoyment of the storytelling.
An excellent read! I’m looking forward to more from Ms. Patterson in this exciting, fast paced series.

Formula 1 romance is an auto-read for me, but it is often hard to find books in this niche that keep me fully engaged and entertained. Downforce completely delivered. Even though it is the second book in the Hitting the Apex series and I haven't read the first one yet, it works wonderfully as a standalone and can easily be enjoyed on its own.
I loved the characters so much because of how realistic they are. Even Max's mother, whom I disliked from her very first scene she appeared, was brilliantly written. Sadly, there are many parents like her in real life, and I especially loved seeing Max navigate that dynamic while still doing his absolute best to please her.
The premise is also fantastic. Annalise isn't just a random employee or assistant to Max's rival; she is also his sister, which raises the personal stakes for her significantly once they got involved with each other. I loved how they started off on the wrong foot, only for her initial perceptions to shift as they truly got to know one another. They fell for each other hard and fast, which made for a deeply satisfying romance.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book, and I am completely seated for any future installments in this series with plans to go back and read book one once my TBR pile clears up. Many thanks to Tiffany Patterson for allowing me advance access to this book. I’m leaving this review voluntarily, and all thoughts are my honest reaction to the story.

I really enjoyed Flat Out when I read it early and was grateful to be given an arc of this next book!
I find a lot of comfort in Tiffany Patterson's writing and the characters she creates. The f1 setting has also been a lot of fun.
I really enjoyed the relationship between Max and Annaliese. It was a slow burn but the book had so many moments of them truly getting to know each other. They're incredibly cute and have such fun banter.
I also loved Annaliese and found her relatable. I would have just called her type A without thinking much but I love that Tiffany Patterson created a beautiful FMC that hits on the deeper aspects of what a true OCD diagnosis looks like and tendencies that go along with it. We also got Max's difficult childhood and how it helped me make specific decisions in his career, but is so attentive and so caring in a relationship. It definitely was a he fell first kind of book based on everything he noticed about Annaliese.
Thank you again Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC and can't wait to see this world grow even more!

This has been a fabulous read! A true enemies to lovers romance with heaps of strong feelings, great dialogue and the well drawn contrast that can exist in different families. Max and Annalise have such a fiery relationship based on past experiences and his rivalry with Travis, Anna's brother. With the F1 setting, the level of competition and pressure is high, and with the rivalry at it highest, the concept of any kind of relationship between these two is just so taboo!
I loved the unveiling of the true Max and the manner in which Annalise is able to see it and revaluate her responses. These two are great together..and don't get me started on the wonderful idea of dinner and an interactive performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Just so brilliant!
This has been a book that grabbed me and held on as I shared the enticing, interesting, lovely romance between these two delightful characters 💖💖💖💖💖

5⭐️
Loved everything about this book, like I’m literally sad that it’s finished!! Max and Annalise were honestly soo cutee because as for me and my house, I really do appreciate a cheeky enemies to lovers romance done right.
Max had nothing to lose and everything to gain going after Annalise, which I appreciate because he was relentless and makes you realise that if he wants to he will. Annalise having OCD was so real and I respect how Ms Patterson always adds relatable issues in her books, and it shows that you’re not any less deserving of love.
Though I loved most aspects of this book I would’ve liked to see Max and Travis have a better relationship. Yes I know they worked together and it eventually got better, but it would’ve been nice to see a closer bond directly in the book.
The epilogue made up for it though, it was so precious. Loved the cultural inclusion.

Tiffany Patterson did it again
I absolutely loved Max and Annalise. Their relationship developed so naturally from years of rivalry and misunderstanding into friendship, vulnerability, and love. I especially loved how they truly saw each other. Annalise helped Max see himself beyond his father’s legacy, while Max helped Annalise recognize her own talent and potential.
I also appreciated the portrayal of Annalise’s OCD and how Max listened, learned, and supported her without trying to change her.
Max completely won me over. Protective, confident, vulnerable, and absolutely gone for his princess. ❤️ Their love story had humor, family, healing, racing, and plenty of emotion. And that proposal was PERFECT for them.
Another five-star read from Tiffany Patterson. I can’t wait for the next one! ❤️🏎️

We are back in the world of F1 racing with the 2nd book in the series. Annalise Townsend works with her brother’s F1 Racing Team. She is determined to land a sponsorship by attending a masquerade ball. While enjoying the night’s festivities, she encounters her brother’s biggest rival turned teammate, Max Ferreira.
From here, our main couple begins on a whirlwind journey from heated rivals to much more. I want to share any major spoilers, but it is never a dull moment with these two. The author takes on a journey filled with steamy romance, humor, and action. Max and Annalise had quite a battle of wits. However, they eventually arrived at their HEA. I am loving how this series continues and am patiently looking forward to the next book.

ARC Review
Another winner by Ms. Tiffany! I absolutely loved this book and experiencing the slow burn between Annalise and Max. They've been around each other in the motorsport world with an antagonizing energy, which perhaps masked their attraction to each other. Max had to withstand a lot of emotional baggage from his parents, while Anna had the Townsend clan to build her up throughout her upbringing. She's fierce with her protection and Max grabbed onto that shield. The chemistry between these two was electric, and betrayal feelings abound since Max was Travis' racing rival, but were sorted out. Beautifully written story which I highly recommend.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Max and Annalise’s story.
Annalise works for her brother’s F1 team and attends a masquerade ball to acquire sponsorship for the team, only to come face to face with Max, her brother’s teammate, and biggest rival.
This is a well written slow burn, easy to read story, with family, friendships, emotions, determination, enemies / lovers, secrets, challenges, humour, witty banter, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

The second book in the F1 series is about Annalise, the only girl in the triplets. She’s Travis’ assistant, runs his world, but is starting to feel like she needs more.
Max is another driver who is in competition with Travis. There’s a lot of bad blood between the two. But Max has also been watching Annalise for years.
He makes a move and of course they end up together. I was a little annoyed at the twist at the end since it’s similar to what happened in book 1! Max and Annalise do get a HEA.
Now will I read book 3 in the series? Yes, of course I will because I love the Townsends family! Borrowed this from Kindle Unlimited.

Author dropped for sale on her website and I couldn't help but get it to continue the story.
I was enthralled with Annalise. Her strength, her loyalty, her struggles. This book felt different than Tiffany's others. So intimate and vulnerable. I didnt want to put it down. I laughed with Princess and Max. I cried with then and def got angry and frustrated for them.
I was so sad when it was over because I could continue to see there story unfold for another 23 chapters.
Read it, love it, and come back so we can than talk about it.

Downforce is the second book in the hitting the Apex series. This book tells the story between Max and Annaliese. Max is Travis’ rival and sworn enemy and Annaliese is Travis’ Sister. This story is a great take on the enemies to lovers, slow burn and secret romance trope. Tiffany Patterson gives us great insight to Max and the reason he is the way he is but also shows another side of him. That is just amazing to see. I love Annaliese because she’s brilliant she has OCD and is constantly working through it, but also being that baddie. Such a great book and a fantastic entry in the series.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has secrets, and sweet romance.
This is Annalise and Max’s story. She is trying to get a sponsor for her brother when she runs into his biggest rival. The sparks fly. The way these two are pulled together is crazy. They have the greatest banter. She thought she knew him but never realized that he is really a great person. They fall hard and fast, but can she be with him? When secrets are revealed, it is great that they can stand together and take down the people that need it.
I recommend this book.

I 💙 this book. Annalise and Max are a couple who work. The dislike of Max is so strong that sneakiness was bound to happen. The sparks fly at a party and the games begin. Max is determined to win Annalises heart and she's trying to deny her feelings. When the secret comes out..family bonds are tested. I love how they stood up for each other and didn't back down. Max's mom and his agent got what they deserved. Hoping for a new member to be added to the Townsend Family. Received an ARC.

Annalise reminds me of myself with my slight OCD tendencies to check things again and again. I loved how Max and Annalise’s relationship slowly progressed from hate to mutual trust to something more.
It was amazing to see how they each embraced the other’s “faults”. Their characters were fleshed out perfectly thus making it easy for me to empathise with both of them. I couldn’t help but root for them to finally have their Happy Ever After!

I loved this book Tiffany has done it again. I enjoyed the F1 series it’s so different and I really liked Annalise’s passion for the sport. The slow burn between Max and Annalise was so enjoyable and kept you wanting more. There was so much more to max that meets the eye with his family complexities. But he was just what Annalise needed in her discovering her full potential and same for him. This was such a sweet book and I’m looking forward to more in the F1 series.

Not for me
There’s something that just didn’t work for me with this one. The F1 theme didn’t feel as well executed in this one and I didn’t enjoy the relationship between the MCs I would’ve preferred a different mmc within the the world of F1 who’s not Travis’ rival to give the MCs more time falling to fall in love but overall not a bad read. It was not my cup of tea but might be for someone else

Being the sister of the world's number one formula 1 driver has it's ups and downs. But Annalise, now has Travis's nemesis to content with also. It is proving difficult to keep out of each other's way, when Max is doing all he can to be in her way. An attraction is there under the skin, but it is itching. Is it a scratch to deep, for them both? Very good read.

Nice story. I am glad that Annalise and Max were able to work out their personal issues. Max’s mother is something else. The way Annalise brother Travis handled the situation when he found out Annalise and Max were a couple had me rolling my eyes at Travis character. However, I am glad Travis and Annalise worked out their differences. Can’t wait for the next story in the Townsend family.

ARC review. Townsend legacy book. Annalise’s story with Max. Two people with different struggles and in a challenging situation who are determined to love each other. Loved how they supported each other. A feel good story, my favorite in the series thus far! However I do hope Miss Patterson gets back to writing morally grey alpha males!

This is a really sweet story
I preordered and I’m so glad I did! Don’t get me wrong, this book has steamy parts typical of Ms. Patterson’s books but she really took time to build this relationship. Annalise has her psychological issues but so does Mac either his mother. Plus this story has the best proposal ever. I think these two are my new faves in this Townsend universe.

I enjoyed Max and Annalise’s story. Max had great development; especially enduring emotional and verbal abuse since he was young. And watching Annalise go through life with her condition added another layer to the story. Her navigating through it was interesting.
Annalise’s father not letting go of someone calling her a bitch cracked me up. Glad she and Max got their HEA

lovely couple
This was such a sweet read, I loved how the slowly fell in love. I was on pins and needles waiting to see how the family would find out and that scene was so good! I was actually expecting the uncles to rough up Max a little but I’m glad he was accepted. Always love a Townsend read!

This was a really good book! I like Max and Annalise together. I didn't like how vicious his mother was towards him. They both had issues to overcome, and this is what really made the characters relatable.
I never realized how much went into motor sports until reading this series.

This is a friend's to enemies love story between Annalises and her brother rival Max. Max was determined to win Annalise heart but she was trying hard to deny her feeling for Max. This is a slow burn with two people who loved each but had secrets that was in the way.

Tiffany Patterson is one of my favorite authors and I absolutely love everything about the Townsends! I loved Annalise’s love story. I also loved how she showed the effects of someone suffering with OCD, she did it with gentleness and compassion.

I won this in the Goodreads giveaway and I normally don’t like rich kid, celebrity, or million/billionaire romances. I find all label dropping irritating but this book didn’t fall into that trap. The characters were written like real people with real problems and emotions.

Love The Townsend Family
I totally enjoyed another book about the Townsends. This family will put a smile on your face. This family is always entertaining.
