Sara wasn't looking to meet someone when she booked her family's vacation. She just wanted to give her kids, and herself, a decent Christmas. Away from home. Away from the painful memories of what they had before her husband died. Ty hopped a flight out of LA after another fight with his on again, off again girlfriend. All he wanted was a break, then he was more than happy to go back to his routine of working construction during the week and playing with his band on weekends. They both knew when they met there was something between them, even if they weren't sure what. When they said goodbye at the airport New Year's Eve and headed for their respective homes, three thousand miles apart, Sara was sure it was the end. She didn't see any other options. Ty, however, was determined to find one. Intended for readers 18+ **** This is Book One of Ty and Sara's story. The full compilation, Book One: So Unexpected, Book Two: My Angel and Book Three: Forever is Here, was published May 2015. ****
I was so happy to see Ty turnaround and come to be a great guy, but that didn't last long.
So Sara, single mom of two boys just lost her husband to cancer a year before, and is now trying to make it up to the boys on christmas by taking them skying in Colorado, when she meets Ty. At first he is thrown off by the mom, because he though she was a nanny but then he warmed up to her and the boys so quick.. So quick that he left his life behind in LA to move to New Hemisphere to be with her after knowing her three days. However it worked, they were together for a quite a while.. he was writing his songs at night, working for his estranged dad during the day, playing daddy and hubby in between, until he got a deal of a life time and went to LA to record an album where he met the hottest super model..however he came back.. but not long after LA was calling him back.. and this time he broke up with Sara for good.
What really pissed me off was that he thought he could leave Sara for 7 months do his thing, and come back and play dad and hubby again. He was in LA for two days before he effed the supermodel and Sara crossed his mind like 5 times in those few months after.. He was an ahole!
I wasn't quite sure whether the mentions that Sara's friend Siobhan had married into a Jewish family were clumsily handled inclusiveness or slight bias. I would have been much more comfortable with Sara and her family having a tradition of joining Siobhan's family (who are not super religious) for a mostly secular Passover as well as Siobhan's family coming to Easter and Christmas, but that wasn't mentioned. The book ends in a place that very strongly hooks into the next. I had a good time reading this one but I don't feel inspired to read the others.
This book on many levels was very relatable to everyday life for a working single mom. I like the interaction between both main characters and the kids involved. This story had some elements and romance and tension between families. I gave this book a three star rating as it was the start of ty and Sarah’s story but it was a little slow in certain areas therefore I’m hesitant to read the rest in the series.
I am not a fan of cliffhangers. That being said, Amanda Wilhelm did tell upfront that this was a cliffhanger. That made me happy. I could choose to read it and decide if I want to continue. The story is good. The ending wasn't. The way it stops is mean 😶. But i 'll be finishing the story.
Story plot was ok. Felt there should have been more dialog between the people. First names were mentioned way too many times. Should have been proof read better lots of errors.
I hate books that stop in the middle of something. We should know if it's a continued book before we start the first one!!!
I hate books that stop in the middle of something. We should know before we start book one whether we have to buy book 2 or3 to get to the end of the story.
This first part of the story line was really good. Sara lost her husband a year ago. While on winter vacation with her two boys she meets Ty. He worked in construction and she work at her son's school. They had enough chemistry for him to move from LA to New Hampshire to see if they had a chance. It was sizzling. That is until he got his big break. You see he was also a singer who wrote his own stuff. Now that is where I will stop telling what happens. There are two more parts left t be told. Amanda Wilhelm has me hooked.
I really liked this book. Enjoyed the story. It is some what sad at first. I don't usually complain about editing because everyone makes mistakes but there were so many errors I couldn't stand it, I just quit reading. I did finish reading only to find it was a *cliffhanger* didn't like that part.
