Each weekday from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Grace and Ashton cohost Battle of the Sexes, a radio program arguing the he-said/she-said issues of the day. Their fiery debates often have listeners wondering if there’s more to their relationship than just talk, even though Grace has been dating Phillip, Mr. Tall, Dark, and Perfect, since long before she ever met Ashton Miller.
Yet when news comes that Battle of the Sexes is on the bubble for cancellation, Grace and Ashton need to step up their efforts to engage their audience to keep the show alive. When a charity organization approaches them and proposes that the two of them kiss for a fund raiser, Grace and Ash agree to kiss for a good cause. A kiss is just a kiss, right?
I like to keep things light and fun, and believe that life is journey so if you're going to buy a book, your life should better for it. Whether a book I write is intended to help you escape for a few hours or designed to teach you a new skill, I hope you find it unforgettable...in a good way. ;)
Current/Upcoming Titles: - Pimpernel - Walk of Infamy - King of the Friend Zone - The Kiss that Launched 1,000 GIFs
About the Rhea Jensen series. I like to tongue-in-cheek tell people, WARNING: This Series Contains Mormons. This series is more mystery/adventure with a dab of romance. HOWEVER, the last book in the series, Walk of Infamy, will be a stand-alone novel and end to the Rhea Jensen series that Pimpernel fans will likely enjoy.
Clean romance lovers --- Add this one to your to read shelf!!
I’ve been a Sheralyn Pratt fan for 5 years. I first read her book City of Angels back in 2010 and loved it. Her Rhea Jensen series soon became one of my absolute favorites. I loved the snarkiness and humor and have been waiting for the final book in that series to be released.
I had the chance to meet Sheralyn last year at a Conference in Provo, UT. At that time I begged her to finish the Rhea Jensen series. She’s had valid reasons why she has not yet finished the series and may not do so for quite some time so I conceded that a clean romance would be an acceptable alternative.
I recently got an email asking if I wanted to read the unproofed copy of her new clean romance The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs.
Heck yeah!!
Any guesses on whether I got anything done that day? Sure did. I read an amazing book! I spent an hour on an exercise bike reading the entire time. We had 4 dentist/ortho appointments that day and I read the entire time. When we got home I curled up on the couch and didn’t get off until I was finished. No better way to to spend my day.
This is the exact type of clean romance that I love to read and can recommend. Full of snark, bantering, and plenty of laughs, The Kiss That Launched 1,000 Gifs is a book sure to be loved by anyone who enjoys clean romance.
So do yourself a favor and add it to your To-Read Shelf!
Content: Clean (although there is talk of and implied sex)
Originally read June 2015 - Reread November 2016 - Just as good the 2nd time around. This is one of my all time favorites!!
This was a different kind of chaste romance than Jennifer Peel's work, mainly because the lack of sex was more of a timing thing than a trait of any of the characters. Indeed, Grace starts off the book in a relationship that was explicitly sexual—as in discussion with her eventual ex included talk about sex as a regular part of their relationship. So it's chaste because the book ends as the relationship solidifies into something the readers know will last.
And it was a solid read. Excellent characters and a decent plot. My favorite, and what pushed it to a solid four stars, was the banter between the two. We get glimpses of their radio show where banter is their job and Pratt managed to make it seem like it really could be. There was wit, but there was also really good byplay between the two with both coming off as strong and confident even as they argue and debate. I loved how well the dialogue played out and I'll be looking for more by Pratt for this alone.
Dragging it down a bit is some of the contrivance to drag the romantic tension out. It wasn't intrusive enough to drag it down even half a star, but there was a time or two where I had a flash of impatience because I was beyond ready for them to be together already. To be honest, I might have dropped down a star by the end, but have to admit the Epilogue ended that temptation flat. Best proposal ever, and perfectly fitting the characters to that point. I mean, it had banter and argument even as it layered that extra awareness of the underlying love they shared. It was a fantastic ending to a story I thoroughly enjoyed.
Grace is a beautiful, sassy, Latina woman and Ashton is a laid back, outdoorsy, athlete and their differences are just enough to help them engage in an intriguing banter day after day on their radio program. I absolutely adored the banter! These two are quick thinkers and know just which buttons to push to keep things interesting, without going too far. The subtle attraction felt more like a sizzling chemistry at times and culminated in a kiss for charity. Only a boyfriend stands in the way.
These characters had personality galore and it really showed through the words on each page. I love strong characters who are perfectly imperfect. I really appreciated the supporting characters as well--especially Esme, Grace's best friend, and Megan, Ashton's niece. Both say it like it is and are total spitfires, especially Megan with her wise words and actions that go beyond her years. I felt completely immersed in the story and felt like I was watching it unfold on social media, right along with the rest of the world.
I love a good, clean romance and this one had a dash of spice. I thought it was very cleverly written and I really can't stop thinking about the story, the characters, and what happened. This one is going on my favorites list!
Content: kissing (making out); mention of sleeping with someone in the past, but no details given; discussion about rape in general without details.
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*
Ok, honestly....I stayed up waaaaaaaay too late reading this one last night. Ha ha ha! But I couldn't sleep anyway since we've had the lovely tummy bug going around at my house, and I was tossing and turning from it. Sooooooo instead of laying in bed wide awake staring at the ceiling(or walls) I put my awake-ness to good use ;-)
I was hooked from the get go! Grace and Ash were just so much fun to read about. Their banter on their radio show, Battle of the Sexes, was just too fun! I found myself holding in giggles, because I didn't want to wake anyone else of course. Oh my word! Can I just say I related so well to Ash too! He may be the guy character but heavens I totally understood him. He's the kind of person who doesn't have a clue about social media and has no accounts, yet his co-host Grace is queen of social media. When their show is being questioned with a possible replacement by a syndicated show his PR group tells him he needs to up his game. What does that include you might ask? Yep, you probably guessed it too....social media baby! #completelyclueless... ok that's not a real # but I couldn't resist. I guess I'm not as clueless as Ash about social media but pretty close. I don't do FB, twitter, instagram(are there any others I left out????). The first time I heard about a 'tweet' was months, months I tell you after twitter was all the rage. My sweet sister in law had to explain it to me. And honestly, I'm not THAT old! I do know how to use FB(I just browse through my mom and sister's when we visit). ^.^ But it's just not my thing and I'm ok with that. But it sure endeared me to Ash to know that he was even more tech illiterate and social media illiterate than me! Hee Hee!
If you enjoy fun banter between characters, a hidden crush/love and lots of playful tweets, instagram posts(and even a couple pictures with captions actually making up a chapter) I think you'll have a great time with this book. Plus if you've read any of Power of the Matchmaker series, Sheralyn Pratt wrote one of the books in that series, King of the Friend Zone, and Esme the female MC makes several appearances in this book. And if you have read this one and not King of the Friend Zone, then I recommend going and reading Esme's story, I highly enjoyed it.
Seriously loved the chemistry between these characters and the actual kiss in the book that launched the 1,000 Gifs...yeah that was pretty fun. There's a whole story behind it and it's a fun part of the book. Cute fun read that overall I really enjoyed!
Content: Ok there were quite a few innuendos throughout that wasn't in the other book I read by this author. Most of them are very mild and, clean-if you can call an innuendo that- but there were a few that pushed it for what I usually am comfortable with(hence the 4.5 stars instead of 5 from me). Grace's boyfriend Phillip gives her an ultimatum at one point in the story that they will break up if she doesn't spend the night with him.(spoiler-she doesn't) They do talk about the fact that they have sex, nothing graphic or detailed but enough that you know they sleep together occasionally. Phillip wants Grace to move in with her but she believes that won't help their relationship last into marriage, but probably just cause them to breakup. A couple sweet kisses, and a couple passionate kisses. I'm pretty sure that's everything within the book content wise that someone might be wondering about. Overall I would recommend for more mature readers, even though it wasn't anything graphic or detailed I would still recommend for mature readers.
I'm so excited I got to read this book! There was a bit of pre-buzz surrounding it in my book circles so of course it was on my radar. I was told when I signed up to review this book that I wouldn't have that long to review it. A week, I think. Ha. I didn't even need a day!
This is the kind of book that just makes you keep reading. There is no putting it down, there is no conceding to sleep or children or dinner making. So, pick up this book when you have plenty of time to read it through or you will be unhappy. Like me. Because I made dinner and the whole while I was cursing the fact that we have to eat. :)
There is build up and tension in this book. There is banter and sass. It's sparky (like sparklers) and I loved it all. I just couldn't help myself. Now I want more. More I want now. I think I have a problem.
As far as content goes, this book is a clean romance. There are references to the MC's past sexual relationships with other people but nothing of detail. There is some sexual innuendo.
And, lucky for you, today is release day so you don't have to wait to read it! It's the perfect summer by the pool or the beach or enjoying your AC book. Happy Reading!
I've been reading this book for 5 full days...feels like longer, I got to 27% - but I made the decision to DNF. I have a really really good book up next that I'm itching to start, LOL! That may have played into it!!
This book is cute, story was interesting, I just got bored waiting for the "click".......waiting for the characters to connect. I gave up! I started to ponder how this made it on to my kindle since I get like 85% of my books from friends reviews!!! One look at the cover it felt youthful to me - but it was actually quite chick lit, workplace, silly life drama. I imagine once the kiss actually happened maybe I would have been hooked. Where did my patience go?!?! :)
4.5 This book has been nominated for a 2015 Swoony Award, to vote click here.
First off, isn't that cover gorgeous?? Love it!
Anyway, ever since I first found out about this one I couldn't wait to read it. I've enjoyed Sheralyn Pratt's suspense series and was curious to see what she could do with a contemporary romance. I was not disappointed. This was a fun read! Be prepared to get sucked in and unable to stop!
Grace and Ashton host a radio talk show, Battle of the Sexes. Every day they go head to head on a verity of topics, their chemistry is off the charts. Secretly Ashton has been crushing on Grace since they started working together two years ago. Problem is, she has a serious boyfriend.
I kind of wavered on what to rate this one. On one hand, it was a totally addicting read. It flowed well, had a fun plot and lots of interactions with our H/h (which is always a good thing). On the other hand, if I over analyze it, I kind of wanted to see more developed between Grace and Ashton. They are obviously physically attracted to each other, but I'd like to see them as a couple and see them really fall in love (its pointed out that they never spend any time together off-air, so aside from the couple hours debating every day, would they really get along in the real world? They are pretty opposite. They obviously connect physically, I just want to make sure there is more to them than that. But again, that's just me over thinking things probably.
Overall, I thought this was super cute! I look forward to reading more contemporaries by Ms. Pratt!
Content Romance: Clean. Mild innuendo and talk about previous relationships, hooking up pre-marriage. Pretty worldly view on relationships and sex. Language: None that I remember Other: Casual/social drinking Violence: None Religious: None
Grace and Ashton are co-hosts of a radio program, "Battle of the Sexes," where they discuss and/or argue about issues that come up between men and women. Grace has been dating Phillip, a chef who owns his own restaurant, for the past three years but there is chemistry between Grace and Ashton that keeps their fans guessing at their real relationship. Things just get more heated when they are approached to share a public kiss for charity.
I heard a lot of hype about this book before I started reading it so I made sure to start it on a day when I could finish it. I'm glad I did, because it delivered! If I had to choose a side between the two, I would pick Ashton. He's fantastic! There really wasn't anything about him not to like--he's a genuinely good guy. I didn't connect with Grace right away but she grew on me by the end. They played well off each other and had some great banter and chemistry.
I loved Ashton's 15-year-old niece, Megan. Ashton is technologically challenged but desperately needs to catch up quickly and she's the right person for the job. Her life has had some challenges and he proves to her that he will always be there for her. They have each other's best interests at heart and step in when needed.
This is a quick, fun read and once I started it, there was no putting it down until I finished! It's a clean read, but there is some sexual innuendo and references to past relationships. This is the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last!
I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.
I could not put this book down!!! Another 2:00 am finish for me :) Grace and Ashton are both strong, compelling characters that made me invest in the story from the get go. There is something about the attraction lurking beneath their emotionally-charged banter that takes the chemistry to a new level. They are both maddening at times, but what shines through is the compassion and caring they have not only for the friends and family they are close to, but for their listeners as well. They each take on the role of advocate for social issues in a way that is entertaining yet serious at times. Ashton's teenage niece is my favorite, wise beyond her years and the #1 supporter of an Ashton/Grace romance. The battle over social media is hilarious and there are several times I chuckled while reading. And the kiss... sigh. The lead up creates such anticipation and the description is perfection. From there the story takes a turn I didn't expect but made me desperate to find out what happens next. Highly recommend to fans of contemporary romance!!!
(Thank you to Ebooks For Review for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)
I really enjoyed this one. Clever, fun, and a little bit of heat. The plot was clever and executed well. I adored the battles between grace and ash. Characters were well written, though I didn't care much for Grace. A few plot points bothered me. And I didn't care for the innuendo, discussions of sex, and infidelity. Knowing this is an lds author, I feel the story could have been stronger without worldly aspects. (Several times I was taken out of the story bc of this). That being said everything is in discussion, nothing explicit. Recommended. Clean.
Although this one is not CF it is PG. This author really lets the sparks fly in this cute romance. I loved it just as much the second time reading it. The witty banter and chemistry between Grace and Ash is off the charts. Now that I know there is a sequel about Esme, Grace’s best friend, I’ll be starting it right away. Hopefully I’ll get an update on Ashton and Grace.
4.5 stars. Sheralyn Pratt is a new author for me and I enjoyed this book so much I was either up late at night reading it or listening to it during the day so I could multitask. Radio show hosts Grace and Ashton have opposing views on almost every topic, which makes for witty banter and heated discussions on their afternoon show "Battle of the Sexes". Their listeners love the show, but even though it's been on for 2 yrs and it's the highest rated show in its time slot there's a good chance it's getting cancelled. The station's marketing department comes up with a "Hail Mary" billboard ad campaign--6 billboards for each of them (all of Ashton's just happen to use pictures of him shirtless) all around the city--but will that be enough to save their show? Grace is hot blooded Latina with a penchant for only wearing dresses and heels at work (which Ashton really appreciates) while Ashton is more relaxed, athletic and really into the outdoors (hiking, fishing, camping). Grace has a boyfriend of 3 yrs (Phillip) while Ashton as a reputation for not keeping a girlfriend for very long. The reason for that is he's been secretly in love with Grace ever since their show started. Grace stands up for herself and I was happy when she basically told Phillip where he could put his ultimatum. Ashton is a good guy who cares for his niece like she's his own and I loved the scene where Grace finally gets to see a more serious side of him. I felt for him when he was forced to I liked Grace's doesn't-beat-around-the-bush best friend, Esme, and Ashton's wise-beyond-her-years teenage niece, Megan, who see things Grace and Ashton either don't see or don't want to acknowledge. This book has a lot of witty banter and definite chemistry between the main characters, and some steamy kisses. I thought the pictures of Grace and Ashton's Instagram posts were a great addition to the book, but I wish they had included at least one picture of one of Ashton's shirtless billboard ads. I plan to read Sheralyn Pratt's King of the Friend Zone (Power of the Matchmaker series) as it's all about Esme.
Ashton Miller is a jock who loves outdoors and avoids all social media; Grace Vasquez is a smart cultured Latina social media queen. They couldn't be more different, but together they host the radio show "Battle of the Sexes". People tune in to experience the chemistry and banter between them!
Grace is the other half of a power couple. She has been dating Phillip, a well-known chef who owns his own restaurant, for 3 years. Ashton is so much more than he appears to be on the show. I loved getting to know Ashton outside the studio. He is kind, thoughtful, sensitive, and a great mentor and role model for his 15-year-old niece.
Their show is on the bubble and they need a Hail Mary to save it! So they agree to kiss for charity - their kiss will last one second for every $1,000 raised... and the longer the kiss, the harder it's going to be to hide and/or deny true feelings!
Sidebar: One of my favorite quotes in this book was when Grace is taking a picture of a sunset and Ash says, "...the point is to be in the moment, not miss the moment while trying to capture it." It just made me think how often do I get caught up in capturing the moment - only to miss it!
Content: Clean Source: Review Copy (opinion is 100% my own)
Ugh. I LOVED this book until about 3/4 of the way. Maybe half way. I could not stand grace!!! Holy cow was she shallow!!! All she cares about was looks. Oh and wearing stilettos on a 3 mile hike?!?! Seriously!!! The chemistry was amazing but I think ash was selling himself short! He deserved someone who liked what he likes. Man. I really can't stand grace. She was annoyed he wore jeans all the time and wanted to change that?!?! Either accept him for what he is or walk away. Gah I think I will be annoyed about her for days. I absolutely loved Ashton!!! He was a great personality! But grace. Ugh. Phillip was perfect for her IMO. Ok maybe not. But I'm so annoyed right now. Oh and the overwhelming feminist. I should stop thinking about this book. It really just started to rub me the wrong way. I would have given it 5 stars if it ended at the middle with the last chapter and parts of the epilogue were on it. I mean seriously. Can you stop being so pushy and demanding all the time?!?!? Gahhh. Ok. Really have to go to bed. Maybe tomorrow I'll give it one more star. Maybe.
Ok. I'll give it 3-3.5 stars because the writing was good. Just need a different personality for Grace.
I have so many words I want to use to describe this book: amazing, hilarious, touching, captivating. And even then, these four don't do it justice.
Ashton and Grace are my new favorite main characters. The humor, the emotions, the banter, it was everything you'd like to see in a romantic story. Neither character overpowered or outdid the other. They truly complemented one another.
I ranted, cheered, cried, and did a happy dance as I devoured this book in one sitting. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for a feel-good, funny and relationship centered story.
This was a fun story. Nothing too deep, just a fun clean story, but yes they do talk about sex but there is not a sex scene in the book. The main characters start out with shallow characters but as you grow to learn about who they are you really end up liking the hero. I thought Ash was pretty amazing and I worry that stories are so focused on creating a great hero they forget to build up the heroine. Does this girl like kids does she want a family? What are her values? You end up not learning too much about her. That is my main problem with this story and so many others. They build a perfect man and it's just not real. But hey it was a fun book and the kiss was great, so was the end:}
SQUEE. Such squee, I can't even. This book left me doing doing a weird little goblin dance of joy and puffy hearts. This is a great opposites attract romance with an AMAZING one-sided/unrequited love (or is it?) that just GUTTED ME and made me turn into a jellyfish. A JELLYFISH.
While I tagged this one as a closed-door romance, there is PLENTY of chemistry and heat between Grace and Ash. I love their dynamic, and I also like the way Sherlyn Pratt manages to amp up the plot and tension (especially toward the end where Grace gets all these plot reveal bombs dropped on her like boom boom boom! Yesssss.) while keeping this a very low- to no-angst romance. Don't get me wrong, there were still a few moments where I teared up, clutched my chest, and wailed "Noooo, my heart!" (just in my head, not out loud... sheesh) but overall this is a light, fun, cuddly read.
What's more, Ash and Grace are so REAL. I found myself lying in bed the night after finishing this thinking of things I wanted to say weighing in on their discussion about the division of household chores/cooking vs. paying for things, as if they were real people and it was a real discussion that I'd been a part of, and I just hadn't gotten the chance to get my point in but there would be an opportunity for a rebuttal. I had to keep reminding myself that marshaling my argument was pointless because these are characters in a book and I cannot actually talk to them. Like, more than once, internal me needed this reminder. That is how real these characters were to me and how deeply I connected with them, which is really saying something because I finished this book in one day.
While this is a stand-alone novel, I'm really excited to see that Sheralyn Pratt does seem to have another book about Grace's awesome friend Esme, who is a side character in this book, called King of the Friend Zone. You'd better believe that's on my TBR!
This was one of those books you wish you had all day blocked out to just read this clean contemporary romance with fiery sparks. The chemistry between the heroine and hero without even touching was off the charts. This was also filled with lots of supporting intelligent side characters.
Ashton the hero is an outdoor and environmentalist journalist who has an ongoing segment on television and does the radio show “Battle of the Sexes” with the heroine Grace. He also is an amateur athlete (volleyball, hiking, climbing, primitive camping, etc.,). He has brains, muscles, and hot looks. He is faithful and honorable to his good guy moral values which make the ladies swoon, but the more worldly Grace argues on the show that those values are old fashioned and sexist because today’s woman doesn't need men to protect, provide, or take care of them.
On the old fashioned front, he is not too much of a communications technology aficionado though he is on television, webcasts, and radio. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, Tumblr, ship names, and GIFs? What are those? Ashton is clueless about these things. Cell phones? The media company that owns the radio and television station gave him a smart phone a couple years ago and he put it in his office desk drawer and he has never picked it up since.
Lucky he has a 15 year old niece Megan to tutor him on the 21rst century. I like that Ashton was an sensitive, insightful, intelligent, protective, uncle that stepped in when his sister wasn’t there for his niece to give of his time and be an adult role model that walked the walk and didn’t just talk the talk.
Ashton has been totally crushing on his co-host Grace for the entire 2 years they have been working together and hasn’t had a serious relationship that entire time and it isn’t from lack of women interested. After a few dates both the woman and him realize his mind is elsewhere, which is Grace of course. Mr. Tall, Dark, and (to Grace) Perfect boyfriend of 3 years stands in the way though. Grace is already taken.
Grace the heroine is a part-time evening news journalist, major social media personality, as well as the co-host of the radio show “Battle of the Sexes” with the hero. She has been part of a power couple for 3 years with Phillip, a celebrity chef and restaurant business entrepreneur/owner. She never is more than arm’s length from her phone checking every form of social media site or posting things about her life on each on those same social media formats. She has made her life a 24 hour social media reality show. I have to agree with Grace’s BFF Esme, I totally didn’t like the person Grace was while dating Phillip. Phillip totally took over her mind and all she cared about was becoming just like him and whoever she thought he wanted her to be, especially in public. They both cared about worldly happiness over happiness in their relationship. I liked the person Grace was after the break up a lot more. Yes, for those who don’t like cheating in your romance novels, Phillip and Grace do break up during the first quarter of the novel, way long before Ashton is even a possibility in a her head or on her radar at the time.
These two opposites are as different as a day at Zions National Park (Ashton) and the nightlife of Miami (Grace), but together like I said total fireworks! So block out some time when you can read uninterrupted, because you won’t want to put this book down like (sigh) I had to.
Sensuality content: Clean. Passionate kissing standing up flush against each other in tight embrace. Brief mention of a couple having a past sexual history nearly a month before the events of the book with zero details. A serious, intelligent, and honest discussion with a radio caller on how most adolescents and new adults in their 20’s know rape is wrong, but don’t understand what really constitutes rape or what constitutes consent.
Religious content: None at all.
Source: ARC given before release in exchange for my 100% honest opinion.
Grace and Ashton love to debate each other on their radio program Battle of the Sexes. Grace is independent and sure of herself, while Ashton loves to rile her up with a distinctly masculine point of view. However, their radio show is now on the bubble, so Grace and Ashton need to try and do something to keep the show going. At first it involves simple things like interacting on social media, but then agree to kiss for charity. A kiss between frenemies seems harmless, but is it really?
This was such a fun book. I definitely related to Grace. She is very strong and knows what she wants out of her life and out of her relationships with people. I especially liked that she was serious about her career while still having fun. She was so professional that a kiss was no big deal. Or so she though. Ashton was hard to get a read on at first. I am not impressed by men who try to be so stereotypical, but Ashton really liked to argue with Grace. It was hard to determine what was real and what was just Ashton egging Grace on. They had developed though a friendship of sorts, and watching it grow was one of the more fun parts of the book.
The author clearly has a good grasp on social media as well. Talking about the shippers and the names they come up with was so spot on. This was such a fun way to tell a story and make it feel very real and current. Grace was very social media savvy while Ashton didn't know as much about it. However, the interactions they had felt very real and added another layer to the story. Overall this was a very cute and entertaining read. I think people who know a lot about social media and fans will particularly enjoy this story.
Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute. There's the review in a nutshell. This book is stinkin' cute!
Grace and Ashton are co-hosts of a popular local radio talk show. The premise is a "he said/she said" format. They argue about the body image, cupcakes, etc. Pretty much anything goes on the show as long as they can keep up their hilarious banter. The tension between the two is very high, the problem is that Grace can't see how much their flirtation can be. She clings to her boyfriend as a safety net.
The tension builds as they agree to a fund raiser to get shoes for needy kids. They agree that for every thousand $ rasied, they will kiss. I'm not going to tell you how much was raised, it does make for a very interesting kiss. A little awkward at points, but a memorable kiss regardless of the circumstances.
If you want a great summer read that will have you laughing out loud, this is perfect. It's pretty clean. There is innuendo and of course kissing! It is a light read but has some deep conversations that are pretty profound.
Loved this one! The banter and wit was great. A quick read full of laughter, romance and fun characters. Ashton was awesome--hilarious and swoon worthy...and I liked Grace well enough (although I forgot she was Latino until she would mention it). I'm glad the boyfriend factor didn't drag on unnecessarily. But Ashton made the book. The constant banter and Instagram post battle between Ashton/Grace had me laughing. And they had great chemistry!! A mark of a good book to me is when the supporting characters are so well written...and Megan and Esme were just that. Megan was adorable and practically stole the show when she was in a scene. And Esme was a fun, non-flighty BFF. All in all, this was a quick, super fun, clean read (mentioned sleeping with others, but no scenes). Very enjoyable...kept me laughing!
This is my first story from this author. But I will be finding more of her books to read. Ok, so I love this story!!!! I was annoyed at first, Phillip this and Phillip that. But it only took 5 minutes for that to change. This is a great read. I couldn't put it down. I love Ash and Megan. Esme is great too!!! I like grace's spunk and the fact that she says what she believes. I won't lie I got a little mad at her. Ash is amazing!!!!! I wish he were real! I think everyone should stop and read this. This is a clean book with a lot of hinting to more, but it is well done. I will probably read it again.
I basically crushed on Ashton this entire book. I'm just sayin'...
Ashton and Grace are on a radio show called "Battle of the Sexes" where they debate things every day. Ashton has loved Grace from day 1, but Grace has had a boyfriend for 3 years. But big things are happening! & a kiss for charity changes everything! The entire book was fun. The banter between Ash and Grace was super adorable! Grace was saucy and sassy and strong. Ashton was athletic and hot and REAL. Such a super fun read!!
*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
4,5! Really realllyyy enjoyed this. The ending was kinda rushed, I wanted to see reactions! But that scene... the phone call from that mother... wow....
Grace and Ashton cohost Battle of the Sexes, a radio program that is presented in the he-said/she-said format and deals with a varied range of topics and issues. Their banter and debates have long since interested the listeners who often wonder if they are a real life couple or not. But with the chance of the show getting cancelled, Grace and Ashton need to step up their game. When a charity organization approaches them and proposes that the two of them kiss for a fund raiser, it is a twofold opportunity for the duo. On one hand they could help raise a lot of money for underprivileged children and on the other hand it could also help raise their show to a different level. But wait, it could be a threefold opportunity – Kissing each other for the charity could also lead them to face the chemistry between them. They may be polar opposite of each other, but there is no denying that there is chemistry between them. Will they finally acknowledge it? And what of Grace’s boyfriend – Phillip?
There’s a saying that opposites attract. It is not just a saying – but a reality in Grace and Ashton’s case. Grace comes across as this strong, independent, headstrong girl who how to manage social networking and also have fun. But slowly that image falls apart as we see that even though she is a confident woman in her professional life, she can be shallow and clueless in her personal life. Ashton on the other hand couldn’t care less about social media. He is an outdoorsy fun loving guy and he sure knows how to get under Grace’s skin! Together they do make a formidable team and the chemistry between them is so much fun, especially when they get into one of their showdowns.
I loved the fact that the author included today’s social media frenzy in her book. It is something that everyone of this generation will understand and enjoy. The author’s language and the narration were easygoing and engaging. Lot of sass, drama and sizzling chemistry kept the book going. And while the plot was very much predictable, it did not dampen my enthusiasm of reading it.
The book made for a really light and entertaining read.
