Marcey really has this amazing grasp on painting a picture, a movie in your head. I have yet to read a book by her that my brain movie stumbles.
101 Days is a gruesomely vivid gothic swamp horror.
What do you get with a wicked witch of the swamp, her ability to create Rugarou's, and a boy battling his demons and his faith?
A problem, a bloody, body gulping, faith bending problem.
Beau was always told to steer clear of the swamp and they many horrors it holds, but one fateful night he finds himself in there, not for the first time, or the last.
Beau finds himself in the clutches of the Mother's whims, unable to pull from her grasp even if he wanted to. He must do her bidding as she wants, and the Rugarou inside, demands his submission. The boy wrestles with himself, his past faults and misdeeds. His most deadly deed comes back to haunt him, pulling the strings to his mind, and with the Rugarou right under the skin, he finds himself at a crossroads--does he find the strength to yank free of the Mother's grip or does he bow to her whims and bring her 12 and 1?

This is the perfect quick read for horror fans. Marcey does a wonderful job blending thrills and chills, terror, and twists all in a highly entertaining story. The folklore theme was perfect as well.
