Well, guess that's it for Greg Land for me.
I thought it can't be that bad right?
It is that bad though, dude never did a panel in his life that he didn't trace from magazine pictures and celebrity pictures and even porn scenes!
Content that he doesn't even own!
Like a parasite.
So, from now on any Greg Land comic will automatically lose 2 stars because his art gets no stars from me.
If the comic gets three stars that means it's 5/5 writing.
Greg Pak is doing great things here, I am very surprised they didn't ask him to write any main X-Men series. He understands the love triangle that is Emma Frost-Cyclops- and his dead wife Jean Grey.
He also understand the love triangle that is Cyclops- his dead wife Jean Grey- and Wolverine!
Weirdest love triangle ever and it gets weirder in the Krakoan era where it was insinuated that even though Jean and Cyclops are married, she is actually with Wolverine instead and he lives in the same compound with them that is Summer's family exclusive -spoiler alert- Wolverine isn't a summers!
He understands the Dark Phoenix as well.
Hell! He understands Quintin Quire and revived him, I hope Quintin doesn't die again, but I am actually confused because I don't think I read him in any of the comics released after this one and I read a lot!
Unless he is in X-Force or X-Factor which I didn't read at all.
Let's see where this is going because quite a few clashes are about to happen!

Phoenix Endsong Issue 2
Plot: Scott apologizes to Emma Frost for having a nightmare about his dead wife Jean, that makes him lose control and laser blast half the room. Some things just can’t be helped. Scott never really got a chance to say goodbye to Jean, but he’s moved on and chosen Emma to share his bed with now. Emma seems satisfied by this and tells Scott she wants to see his face and then switches to diamond form. Emma slips inside Scott’s head and see’s his thoughts wander to when Jean tried to hold his optic blast back. She also sees that his thoughts just see her in her diamond form. She accuses him of only loving her because can’t hurt her. He assures her that’s not true. She’s good for him, and that’s why he loves her. Logan breaks there moment and tells them Jean is back. The X-Men discuss. Scott doesn’t believe it’s really Jean. Logan does because he’s smelled her. Scott wants to find her and destroy her. Scott argues he and Jean are mentally linked so it couldn’t be her. Logan counter-argues that Jean is fighting the Phoenix force. Scott still wants to kill her. He recognizes from the red and yellow costume, she’s the Dark Phoenix. Scott gives the X-Men their orders to capture Jean. We see Scott spot Jean and blast her, but we soon see it’s a stimulation and Scott is training for the real thing. Then there’s a breach. Another mutant has broken into the mansion. It’s Quentin Quire, and he’s looking for Sophie. Dr. Mcoy tries to tell him Sophie’s gone, but he’s not trying to hear all that. He finds the three Cuckoo sisters, but Sophie isn’t with them. He sees she really is gone and ERUPTS green light. Meanwhile, Storm tracks an unusual hurricane. Then she discovers the airplane. Inside seem to be several men trying to track down Phoenix and Kid Omega. KO is now at Sophie grave as he remembers. As he holds Sophie’s corpse he remembers how the Phoenix brought Jean back and says let’s see what it’ll do for us.

Rating: 6 This one was slow building, and only got interesting at the end when Kid Omega crashes the mansion and plans to resurrect his dead love interest. I really liked the illustration of him holding her dead body lite up in green.
