Raymond Bean is a dad, a teacher, and the Amazon best-selling author of the Sweet Farts, Benji Franklin and School Is A Nightmare books. His books have ranked #1 in Children's Humor, Humorous Series, and Fantasy and Adventure. They often rank among Amazon's top 100 books for children.
This is the second book in the Benji Franklin: Kid Zillionaire series. In this book Benji, a child genious, has two problems to solve. Benji, working with Sir Robert and all the gadgets he has supplied him with, has to solve the problems of an island that is suddenly experiencing earthquakes and blackouts as well as the problem of a business that has all their profits disappear by money transfers. Of course, Benji's mother still wants him in school completing all his work and assignments and he is still dealing with his nemesis Cindy. When Benji is told he must work on the last assignment at school, he recruits Cindy and the student body to help him. He solves both problems quickly and at great expense and gets well paid in the process. Children from 7 to 11 will enjoy this book as it shows a young child solving the problems of adults and the world.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
After Benji's Excuse Yourself app, that he invented for kids, becomes popular with adults, he builds a successful business helping adults get out of dangerous situations. Benji is a zillionaire and owns his own car, he has a chauffeur to drive it, a spaceship and his own submarine. His mom wants him to stay in school, and his principal, while tolerating what he does to a certain degree, is often clearly unhappy when he gets behind on his schoolwork because he is off saving the world.
This is definitely, an original idea; I'm sure the series is quite popular with children because Benji is rich and has a life filled with adventure. Readers will also like the fact that Benji is a genius and has a job helping grown-ups solve problems that they can't figure out on their own.
This is a fun book with illustrations that children will enjoy.
This is part four in a series about a child who became rich by developing a wildly popular software application and now goes about the world solving the problems of rich and powerful adults. On the whole, this is the fantasy life of a seven to nine year old boy. That's the best way to describe this whole book. While I wasn't in love with this book as an adult reader, I can see it being well received by its target audience. Overall, a good book for younger middle grade boys.
Benji Franklin is a super brilliant kid that has made tons of money through an app he created. That app opened the door to him becoming a sort of kid super hero that bails out adults when they need help. He uses all of his resources i.e. his brain, submarine, spaceship, secret office hidden in the school to save the day. This is a fun adventurous read that would be perfect for reluctant readers as well as kids looking for a lighthearted read.
Asher (10yo) read. "Benji is called by a mysterious caller somewhere in the ocean who says he needs help because of a lot of earthquakes. Benji and his dad go to investigate. They find a panic-stricken people on an island afraid of earthquakes and their volcano erupting. There is also a man there who says he is trying to map the sea floor to stop the earthquakes, but Benji thinks he's being a bit to secretive and starts investigating further."
This is an exceptional character. I absolutely love his thinking and adventures. I hope that this series continues on for a bit longer. Benji Franklin is extraordinary!
