This was an interesting read in the Dan Brown mold of religious conspiracies and the author does a great job of making this very original story believable. The plot moves between the past and present, which is a feature I always enjoy and cleverly combines pure fiction with references to real events and people, giving the story credibility.
I am not terribly religious so enjoyed the book as a thriller, full of intrigue and suspense, without worrying too much about the challenges to traditional religious ideas. I think it does help to read this book with an open mind but then that is probably true of how one should approach most books.

4.5 stars.
I was attracted to this book by the cover and the blurb and the story did not disappoint.
First and foremost this is an intrguing story about the origins and future of christianity which inevitably leads the characters to the Vatican. Pace is maintained throughout and Eugene writes with clarity and has great "readability" and despite moving forwards and backwards in time the story flows incredibly well. A thought provoking read which ends with a sense of hope for the future despite the world's imperections.
Underneath the story there is an interesting and inteligent consideration of religion that goes far deeper than similar books I've read.
Overall I absolutely loved this read but I did have a couple of minor niggles, neither of which massively damaged my enjoyment. Eugene uses dialogue a great deal to move the story along. While this technique worked very smoothly it didn't always read as natural speach. In a generally well produced and edited book the few minor errors did stand out.
Overall an intelligent, imaginative and interesting read that held my interest throughout. If the blurb appeals I recommend you download a copy.

The Trifecta was another Awesome read by H. Eugene. It will challenge all of your beliefs and like many other readers have said to put yourself out there and write about religion at all, especially as a debut novel is pretty courageous. This book is another fast paced wild ride that is full of all the key elements that readers tend to look for in books.

There were so many aspects of this book that really made you want to see this book come to the big screen. The scenes in the Vatican were so well written and descriptive that you almost felt like you were there along with Myles. The scenes in the club ( I don't want to give too much away) were so shocking it left you on the edge of your seat wondering what would become of poor Myles. Rarely do we see a fiction book make you question everything you have ever believed!

I stumbled on the author by mistake, however, he has a unique ability to grab you into all of his books and literally not let you go until you get to the last page. I seemed to have read all three of his books in just over a week and I really do not have that much time to read. He will be a thriller writer to watch in the months/years to come.

Any author who writes about Christianity is courageous and willing to open his/herself up to criticism. I applaud Eugene for his ingenuity and skill at holding the story together in a fluid way whilst infusing religious research.

The cover up in the Vatican was realistically portrayed and believable. The concept; that God is lost and so is a very important lost gospel, also gave the story an interesting and suspenseful feel. The book made me question a lot of things about my own beliefs, and this was a real plus for me.

Whilst I am unwilling to talk to deeply about the religious aspects of the book, I will say that it was an eye opener. I thoroughly enjoyed Trifecta and I am giving it 5 stars for originality.

Traveling back and forth through time we follow the story of intrigue, cover-ups and mysterious secret societies that after a while I felt like my head was going to spin. So much to ponder and think about it was almost like Dan Brown's books on steroids. I'm sure the book was thoroughly well researched as it covers so many different time periods, real life societies, only some of whom I have heard of, like the Knights Templars and real life and fictitious historical personages. This is a book that will make you think!
