In the thrilling second installment of The Progtopia Trilogy, the stakes are even higher for two heroines from two different timelines, as they continue their work to overthrow a cruel and corrupt system of government.
She found strength in numbers—a team of like-minded souls determined to bring down the One World Government. But now the year is 2035, and sixteen-year-old Camille finds herself separated from Peter and the rest of her group.
With ex-CIA agent Franklin by her side, Camille must find her way back to the shire, a hidden underground location where a group of revolutionaries has worked for years to overthrow the government and its powerful and tyrannical leader, the Premier. But in a world so desperate that citizens will turn against each other for a bite of food, working undercover is a dangerous game.
Flashing forward to 2173, the all-consuming darkness of a worldwide utopian society is exposed, as resistance leader Thatcher Kelleher is left to fend for herself in the wilderness. With her diabolical brother, Jonathan, searching for the ability to read minds—it’ll take the courage and determination of a true leader to combat this next frontier of government control.

Covering a four year period in the two time lines, as they say of the second book in any trilogy, "the plot thickens". There are so many twists in both timelines, 138 years apart, and much new technology introduced. It definitely had me on the edge of my seat as my mind spun alternative conspiracy theories. Can't wait to see how the third book will wrap it all up. Warning: as with all good middle books in a trilogy, this one ends with things on the dark side... and as we all know about dystopia fiction... the good guys do NOT always win.
Well written again, and looking forward to the conclusion!
An exciting action-filled book that picks up where Progtopia leaves off. Yet, another cliff-hanger ending that left me anxious for Book 3. McGrevey continues the stories of characters that I loved and loved to hate, and she introduces new ones. There are some back stories of key characters which I loved. She continues the cautionary tale of where we could end up in the not too distant future. A great read for teens and adults!
Progatory is a book that has you thinking about what rights we have, and what rights we have given up. This book takes you back and forth from the past, when the Government starts restricting rights and controlling the people. To the future where the world is totally controlled by a one world government. Definitely a thought provoking book.
This small space cannot capture the energy and twists and turns that Book #2 contains. As some folks have mentioned, reading book #1 (Progtopia) is a must or you might be a little lost in the first couple chapters...but it's not tremendously terrible if you just pick this one up right away. Kind of like if you started to watch The Empire Strikes Back or Godfather II first--you would be a little curious about some of the characters and how they became the way they did. Some of the "nastiness" of the characters in this book had come out in Book #1...so hence, that recommendation.
If you are into binge reading, this is one series that you just fall into. Every single line is very engaging. McGrevey is able to slip the intense decisions of most of the characters in a couple lines. I noticed myself going back and saying to myself "...wait...did they really just do THAT?". The characters are the best part of this whole series so far!
Now...another test of patience to wait for Book #3. If you are reading these reviews and are waiting till all three come out to start reading them, you will probably read all 3 right in a row! Not joking. For all of my other fellow McGrevey fans/readers at this moment, I say: "Patience, Grasshopper...Patience!". I cannot even imagine what Book #3 will look like, but if it is like these first 2, then it will be pretty unreal!
