A whirlwind of luxury, crime and sexual thrill was what Isla Maran found overnight with Abram Lenox. But she left it all behind to let him hunt and kill Jesse Toro. She left him for her shot at normal.

But there's no chance for that now. Now, in the hands of Jesse Toro, Isla has no choice but to be a part of this -- to be caught in the crosshairs of a war that will end in bloodshed only she can stop. Because with Jesse, she discovers shocking lies that will change the whole course of the chase. Lies that will change absolutely everything.

So I find lately that I just start reading books without reading what they are about.. I love s couple of this authors books and though light funny sexy just my type ... nope this was angsty intense, violent.. murder death kill but also sexy cute funny.. I think my heart was really set on guy 2 .. he was different sorry to say but better too he was more chill and not really about that gangster lifestyle and more soulful .. i don't like love triangles someone always gets hurt and left out and it was heartbreaking, I like more upbeat books this made me feel too much and think about the what ifs and the sadness of the guy not picked

This read was the epic conclusion to the Abram-Isla love story that just got complicated! Because that ending in the first book was a killer. Goddamn. I did not expect the spin. Or the spins, because there were lots of 'em. But as with the first book, I loved how well-paced this book was. In your face and no dragging on with the story. I really enjoyed the epilogue because it really detailed things that I wanted to have closure on.

PS--And I also did not expect Jesse Toro. Whaaat?! I am not ready for this villain-slash-hero. I could not even bring myself to hate him. I have not researched it yet but feel free to let me if this delicious piece of a man has his own book.

DNF @ 36%. I tried. I couldn't.

A little warning about the love triangle that occurs in this book would've saved me so much time from bothering with this story in at all. Not my jam at all and even tho it seems it's more emotional than physical aside from that first time at the end of the first book (according to others reviews)...yeah no. Pass.

Abram had lots of potential but this series was just disappointing. The pacing and timeline of events confused the hell out of me. And Isla...no. Horrible heroine. She was annoying and flaky with her feelings. Isla was also dumb IMHO. How she ended up so easily in Abrams world was astounding. None of it made sense. Isla got herself in a mess, got horny, wanted the guy...had to wait for the guy while getting orgasms for her patience and still somehow she sleeps with Jesse within a fucking second of time regardless of the subterfuge from Jesse. It was soooooo stupid! And there were so many questions and holes in the plot. No.

This was such a good wrap up to Isla and Abram's story. I did find it to be a little boring in some parts. And I found myself skimming some of the paragraphs because I was just so bored.

Anywho, this book picks right up where the first book left off. And I must say that I absolutely fell in love with Jesse's character. I would 100% read a spin off for him. I just love his cute little cinnamon roll self. He stole the show for me for this book. I ended up loving him much much more than I did Abram. And I am definitely not ashamed to say so. Lol.

And let me just say, that epilogue... So mean Stella Rhys, SO MEAN! Lol. You can't leave a girl hanging like that for pages on end! Lolol.

Loved this story so much. <3

Would have given it zero stars, if it wasn’t for this author. I love her writing, but I absolutely hated this story because of one reason only;

I hate when the heroine is involved with two guys at the same time. Even though she never technically cheats on the hero, she’s still clearly emotionally interested (and invested). And that just ruined the whole story.

I wish I knew that these books involved a love triangle before reading them. It would have saved me from this bummed-out-feeling I’m left with.

Now that Isla has hooked up with Jesse how is her relationship with Abram going to play out? Jesse isn't the bad guy he is portrayed to be, although he isn't innocent either.
I had moments that I really was fed up with Isla. She was playing both Abram and Jesse. She professes to love Abram but she kept leading Jesse on. She knew how he felt about her and yet she wouldn't stop him from doing things to her. Abram should have thrown her to the curb, but he accepted the excuse that Jesse tricked her. He may have at first but she kept coming back for more.
The one thing this author did that was such a major turn off was when she was describing Abram and Isla having sex and she would use the word HELMET when describing his cock. Every time she did this I would get a picture of a football helmet on his penis....LOL
There are many more words that could have been used and this one just ruined it for me.

I can’t- 😭
this book was a complete whirlwind of emotions.
i’m in love with Abram and Jesse, I honestly couldn’t pick just one, I’d need them both.
the ending had me all sorts of messed up, my heart was in my throat and I was terrified to turn the next page. But the epilogue was everything I wanted and needed, currently crying a mixture of happy and sad tears.

So, Isla has been a bad bad girl. The day before Abram said she should live her live, be happy and he will come back for her, yet she goes and sleeps with "sean" the first night. Now Sean is not Sean but someone else.
Abram has not been lying to her so I don't see how she can go to pretending that everything is A-Ok.
I know she has this nurturing personality and wants to save everyone, but not everyone is worth saving and you need to work on your relationship, girl.
Tell him the truth, before Nate does... Ooops too late.
And how does Abram just forgive that? And she gives him the silent treatment? Seriously? He should be the one that is mad!
Aghhhh! What is she had gotten pregnant by "Sean", jeez can you imagine? Poor Abram, probably would have forgiven that too!

So dark and suspenseful!
I was so up and down with my emotions. I really had no idea which way things were headed.
I just want to slap Isla. She's a really good person but she's too naive, too trusting, too empathetic. Those are all fabulous traits but sometimes they can be to your detriment.
Damage is the crazy ending to a crazy saga that all began on a night long ago that started with Isla learning that her best friend is marrying her ex-boyfriend.
Dark dominoes fell from then on...
wow.

Bittersweet ending

Great finish to a great story! I love the twists and turns, and there’s just enough darkness and angst to pull you in. There were some crazy holes in the plot (the gambling ring was a stretch but I can look past it), and in all honesty I found Jesse to be a better hero. But this was the most engaged I’ve been in a story in a while. It definitely makes it onto my re-read list.

I was disappointed that the twist cliff hanger from book 1 played out the way it did in this book. Maybe I’m just not a love triangle girl but this book made me really dislike Isla. Jesse and Abram each had their issues but she was the flakey one who flitted back and forth between them and then tried to act like a victim in their world. I really like this author and I like her books, just not how this panned out. I wanted the two guys to move on without her.

I liked this one better than the first book, which surprised me because I rolled my eyes HARD at the end of the first book when Jesse came on board. But I felt like Isla a lot of the time - I kind of wanted both guys to win!

Still not perfect, because Isla super sucked, but again, better than the first book.

I'd read a book all about Jesse.

Haphazard

I quite liked the first book in this duet but this one not so much. I disliked all the characters in the book apart from Jesse who h was a complete 180 from the first book and I absolutely hated the love triangle and how Isla was every man's kryptonite. I also felt the like climax was disappointing.

A completely and totally messed up story but I loved it so much. Playing both sides, getting answers and the fear and danger were fantastic. Not to mention the "fan my face" hotness of these men...a great fine h to this two book series.

Although this book is some years old, it does not appear to have been proof read by a competent person. There were so many missing words and wrong tenses that it affected my ability to engross myself in the story as every time I met errors I would be thrown out of the story.

This is a toughie. I was rooting for both guys! I hope we get the other guy's story in his own book. Spin off?

4-star goodness

This two-part book was a thrilling ride. A love triangle where you truly root for BOTH men, a la Twilight with Edward and Jacob. danger, yummy sexiness, and twists that made me never want to put it down. Stella Rhys does it again with amazingly deep characters and plot.

Spoiler:

Couldn't connect with either the FMC or the MMC. Through 90% of this book I was rooting for Jesse, the other "love" interest.

Also, he deserves better.

This book (series) was not good.
