The Unit: Episode Two

Rate this book
Tom Hooper is handsome, charming and smart. He is also a serial killer locked up in an institution for the criminally insane.

Mike Johnson is a career cop who now heads up The Unit, a small group of men and women tasked with stepping in to catch the killers no one else can.

When Tom approaches The Unit with information on body dumps Mike has no choice but to agree to work with him. It appears that all Tom wants is to atone for his past sins but can that really be all that he wants?

"I was thrilled when Riley asked me to read the first draft of his new book, The Unit. From the moment I picked it up all thoughts of my own deadlines disappeared and I was completely hooked. This is a series not to be missed and I for one am now a fan." - A.J. Carella. Author of The Game, To Kill For, Blood Sport, Hard Time and Gang Land.

The Unit Episode 2 by Riley Parker & A.J. Carella The Unit Episode 2 by Riley Parker & A.J. Carella is a four star book, start to finish.  It was intense & filled with suspense.  I only wish it had not been left with a cliffhanger.

Lacey, one of the detectives had been beaten & had several bruises on her face.  She had become skilled applying makeup during her abusive marriage with Larry.  "It took about 30 minutes to cover the bruises."   Years of practice had made her "...the Norman Rockwell with her various makeup tools."

Mike is assigning detectives to the ongoing investigation dealing with the serial killer who is institutionalized.  "Chris, I need you to go to the asylum & see what you can get from Hooper.  Harverson is insisting someone go up there today, I'm afraid.  I suppose you'll have to deal with that pain-in-the-a$$ shrink too, but be patient, take whatever he gives you.  Don't push him too hard.'

'Sure thing, Captain,' Chris said.  'Who do you want with me on this?'

'Take Lacey,' he said.  'I think having a woman around might make him open up a bit more.'"

I received a complimentary copy from Amazon.  That did not change my opinion for this review.
