A short novella from the "Trust Me" Series by Mary Elizabeth Summer

2.5/5 STARS

I only read this to test out CloudLibrary's app for reading eBooks, since my local library switched to that from Overdrive. I'm so sad, I really like the Kindle e-reader app best.

Down to the Liar is informative, albeit, short read. If it's been awhile since you read book one, Trust Me, I'm Lying, it has plenty of reminders of what went down previously in Julep's world. The mystery is kind of weak, and Julep's character is, seriously, kind of a bitch.

So, on to the next book...I just don't know if I want to continue...I can't read it next, I need to bang out a couple of NetGalley's first.

I missed Julep so much!! I am so glad I read this before the second book since it caught me up with what had happened in the first book.
Julep takes a con where she must help a friend in need and keep her from getting harassed any longer.
This was deliciously unpredictable and suspenseful. I missed these characters so much, it was amazing to come back to them. Although circumstances are now a little bit different which keeps breaking my heart. I thought I knew who was behind the harassing but Mary slapped me with a plot twist I never saw coming.
I loved it and I am even more glad the story isn't over yet!

I had forgotten how fun this group is. This time around, Skyla is being attacked on the Internet by an anonymous person (or persons). So Julep sets out to get help and find out who the culprit is. The answer is surprising and (for me anyway) unexpected, especially the reason why.

“You can if your relationship with truth is as sketchy as mine is.” (c)

What’s got you in a snit?” ...

Julep Dupree returns to hunt down a group of cyberbullies attacking a classmate. This novella takes place between Trust Me I'm Lying and Trust Me I'm Trouble. Julep is still grieving from Tyler's death and blames herself. She's afraid she's endangering everyone close to her and keeps them at arms distance. However she learns she needs her friends to help her emotionally and with the cyber-bullying mystery. I enjoyed reading a short story with a mix of old and new characters. My favorite part was watching Dani and Julep's relationship start to grow from acquaintance to friends. It's a good, quick read and fans of the Trust Me series will enjoy it.

A great way to bridge the two books following the events of the first book especially. For me, it was a great way to reorient myself into this world I've been away from for years.

I received a copy of this digital novella as an ARC and am giving it an honest review.

After reading the first book in the series Trust Me, I’m Lying, I quickly fell in love with the story. So when I found out that this novella was coming out I was very excited but also a bit hesitant to see what direction this would go in and how much it would tie into the events of the first book.

The events in this novella takes place after the first book and also shows how Julep is handling, or not handling, the events that happened there. This novella supports the first book and continues Julep’s story very well providing not only something for fans to read before the second book Trust Me, I’m Trouble comes out but also helping to advance Julep’s overall story and journey. I think it will serve as a nice bridge between the first and second books.

As for the plot we see Julep once again running a con but this time it’s meant to help someone who is the victim of cyber bulling. This proves to be a bit more of a challenge then she expected and perhaps a bit more dangerous then expected as well.

Also this time around Julep doesn’t have Sam around to help. Not that she’s the best at calling for help or thanking people who give their help anyway. That aspect also plays into this story, forcing Julep to confront how she feels about the people around her, whether they happen to be someone she can call a friend or people she tries to keep more of an emotional distance from.

It was also great to see Dani again. After the events of the first book I figured she would be sticking around Julep in the future and I was pleased to see that she has. Dani's presence is big help but also forces Julep to confront how she feels about past events if not try to start working through them.

You can also really see the friendship between Julep and Sam even if they are both in a difficult situation. People you can depend on are hard to come by and friendships can easily fall apart so I like how that part of Julep’s life was portrayed throughout this novella.

There is a very good balance between what’s going on with Julep emotionally and with the rest of the plot regarding her trying to uncover and stop these cyberbullies. Both of them tie in together and neither one overwhelms or pushes aside the other plot as I’ve seen happen in some stories.

This was a fantastic novella, a great addition to this series and a great way for readers to prepare for the next book to come.

This short little novella takes place between Trust Me, I'm Lying (Trust Me, #1) by Mary Elizabeth Summer (book 1) and Trust Me, I'm Trouble (Trust Me, #2) by Mary Elizabeth Summer (book2) but I read it after I read book 2. I think it does a good job bridging the gap between the two novels. It shows how Julep is dealing with the aftermath of the conclusion of Book 1 and sets up some different things for book two.

Even though there is a quick little mystery her "agency" solves, I think this book is more focused on character arcs.

I don't think this novella is necessary for the story, but I enjoyed it.

I think I really love this series. It's pretty much the only cops/robbers book I've read over the past couple of years that's been both believable and enjoyable. (And it's mostly because of the character development.)

Julep Dupree is back (and a little sadder than before since you know, in a short novella by Mary Elizabeth Summer. In this, Julep is hired by Skyla (BFF of Bryn) to find out who is cyber bullying her. Julep and Murphy (yeah, he's now definitely part of THE team so YAY!) work their magic and find out who it is. Dani is still protecting Julep (I just love Dani so much) and her English is improving.

In hindsight it was obvious who was actually bullying her.

There was a teaser to Summer's next book Trust Me, I'm Trouble . And if it is, what I think it is, this book is going to be very, very enjoyable. I JUST CAN'T WAIT!

If you have not read the first novel do NOT read this novella!!! It will spoil a lot if you haven't finished the first novel, but if you have....you so need to read this!! A good novella that is just following a simple-ish case as Julep continues her investigating. I like that this story picks up a few months after the first novel ended so that you have a little time between and you can better understand where Julep is at in life.

I don't know how to describe this book without giving anything away so just read it!!! If you loved the first one (like I did) this is a nice addition and I am excited to move onto the next novel!

I knew this was a very short book when I got it, but I like the series so much I had to have it. Even though it only has three chapters it is just as lovable as the other books by Mary Elizabeth Summer that goes with this series.
