The BDSM Group's inaugural Bring Out Your Kink event: Bound in Ink
starts off with a BANG!
In this dragon shifter scifi, the dauntless hero Gideon uses all his training to survive his new master, his guards, and his pet training mistress. Fast-paced and action-oriented, I would have preferred a bit more emotional attachment to the characters and world building to give a richer feel to this futuristic tale.
The smorgasbord of non-con includes everything from humiliation to gangbangs, manties, and tail sex.
Overall, fast and furious.

Nope. This did not work for me at all. Enticed by the idea of an erotic mix of sci-fi and slavery I was excited to read the first story in the BDSM group's Bound by Ink inaugural extravaganza and am disappointed that despite it being well written Drago Star left me cold.
I am not keen on reading this particular kind of harsh treatment, humiliation and rape . No thank you.
I can deal with violence and brutality as long as there is some reason for it, in this case the purpose did not engage me. Instead this whole story just felt like an exercise in macho dick waving and not the eroticism I had hoped for.
The introduction to manties was a minor highlight. The fact that one of the protagonists was a dragon shifter was also interesting. A star awarded for each of these points.

Fun dirty story full of non-con action. This is definitely a fantasy story and shouldn't be taken to seriously, there is lots and lots of rough fucking and Gideon still manages to come repeatedly from it, but that's what makes it fun.
I didn't particularly like the twist, but that was just personal taste.

this was quite similar to the other j. johanis book i read the other day, blood of the sphinx - both are absolutely fucking ridiculous and have magic cum in them, but were so much fun. i think i've found a new favourite taboo erotica author.

Although I enjoyed the BDSM elements of the story I was was disappointed with the ending. I don’t want to give away anything, but I found it pretty silly. Up until then I would have given it 4 stars.

This was a short quick read that I enjoyed reading. This was the first book in a new series too me and this was my first time reading this author. Captain Gideon is a candidate at the Drago Star Academy and well on his way to fulfilling his lifelong dream to be a Star Commander and fight the alien insurgency on Earth. However, before he can complete his training, he is captured by an unknown entity who sells him to a sadistic alien master. Drago ia s dark twisted sadist and this book is full of violence and full of hot sex scenes and torture. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Drago Star Academy only accepts the best of the best military candidates and of those few graduate.
It's been Captain Gideon's life long dream to become a Star Commander and right now is weeks away from graduating to make that happen. Nothing will stand in his way including an ultimatum from his live in lover Jessy who makes it clear that Gideon needs to quit the military or they're done and he moves out.
Suddenly waking up to discover he's been abducted and a captive to slavers is the beginning of a new hell, especially after he's purchased by a sadistic dragon shifter who plans to make him his personal sexual pet. His only hope, to determine why he and other members of the academy were taken and how to mount an escape plan that includes killing those responsible.

Futuristic SciFi m/m erotic short story that features a LOT of man on man action, including rough dub-non con and dragon-human sex scenes. This is not the sort of story for the squeamish or fairy tale romance fans. It's gritty. It's dirty. It's HAWT D/s quality rough sex at it's finest. Of note there is a female Domme type character who has no direct personal participation in any of the scenes but does a fine job directing the actual participants.
There are two types of plot driven stories and this one certainly qualifies as a story line that supports the erotica content. Surprisingly, the story line itself was one that I would have enjoyed on it's own merits as it was that good. The author was able to articulate such a well thought out plot that included a surprise ending. I would have included an ending that many won't see coming but I correctly figured it out earlier than later.
The big part of this story is definitely that it's erotica content heavy. I'm on the fence if that content can be considered to be rough kinky manly BDSM driven scenes or dark themed BDSM with a sadistic flare. The scenes that included full form dragon sex with a human pushed the envelope for me (vague non spoiler: head or tail decision came into my opinion) but that fits the general tone of the story as the dragon captor made it clear "... my species cares nothing for romance" so the subsequent carnal animalistic and at times non-dub con scenes are to be expected.
While I totally appreciated this SciFi military erotica story, the superficial quality detracted from the world building and ability to flesh out the actual erotica scenes. If this had been longer and thus had that ability I definitely would have rated it higher. For those looking for a rounchy quick story, and don't mind full on dragon sex, this is certainly one to check out.

I was given a copy by the author in return for an honest review.
This was a shapeshifter, alien, human story, all intertwined, Gideon was based on a faraway planet, and the fact that he was a gay man in the military did not hold him back. Gideon moved up the ranks and spoke many different languages, he could understand aliens quite easy. There was a plan to train Gideon and his men, on a special mission, they signed a waiver to cover the military's ass basically and were left waiting on training to begin.
Now how would you deal with waking up butt naked in a cell, not even sure if you were still on your own planet? it would probably freak the best of us out. Gideon soon became aware of the intentions, he was a prisoner, he now belonged to his master Drago, Gideon never learned to speak Dragon language because everyone believe it was an extinct race, long gone, but here he was faced with one, and that Drago was going to use and abuse him, he would make him learn who was master. Drago had a human form, and Gideon actually felt something towards him, perhaps in another place or time or if Dragon was just human they could have been more than Master and prisoner.
Gideon, of course, is military trained, he refuses to submit, he fights Drago, so he is punished. Believe me when I say that his punishment was cruel, gruesome, made me cringe slightly, but this had to be the way. The ending was totally not what I ever imagined a bit of a mind blower!
I got engrossed in this story, it had so much going on, but it is M/M with a femdom character also, it includes a lot of explicit sexual scenes. Totally different from my normal reads, but I would definitely read more from this Author.

I had been waiting, for what felt like a lifetime, to get my hands on the first Bound by Ink story. When it was finally released I found that my precious time was being stolen away by the aggravating wails of the real world. So when I woke up this morning with my hands sweaty, and heart tacky, realising I had an hour or two to finally read, I found myself so excited I was going to vomit...
It was everything I wanted it to be; Sci-Fi (check), well paced (check), action packed (check), there was a plot with my porn (check), and manties... MANTIES!! Oh, hell yeah! The only exception to all this awesomeness was that , which lead to my 4 star rating rather than 5. Still a thoroughly entertaining read. All that's left to be done is my happy dance...
ETA: For those that like their M/M far, far away from any Fs, than just an FYI, there's a little Femdom here but in all honesty I barely noticed.

Drago Star with his blond looks and dominance issues reminded me a lot of Iason Mink from Taming Riki Vol 1, Part 1. But then with the addition of Drago's involving a Dominatrix, his dragon nature, the good use of his tail and the complete disinterest in regards to Gideon's whereabouts and welfare, it was easy to separate the two images.
The plot is ridiculously easy. The lesson to be learnt from this would be to "Always read the fine print before you sign anything".
Gideon finds himself at the mercy of his kidnappers, being sexually assaulted by a dragon, then made to wear manties in public, forced to have sex with multiple partners. And at the end of his ordeal, he discovers it was just the final test for becoming Star Commander. And it's absolutely fine to continue working with your former captor and Dominatrix tormentor as well have under your command 3 men who previously f**ked you several times with the pretense of passing on information.
I mean, you really have to suspend disbelief and focus only on the sex, otherwise you won't pass the 10% mark with this novella. That's what I did, anyway.

The dragons aren't extinct and damn they are horny fuckers. It takes all of Gideon's training to stand the sexual assaults of his owner Draco. The writing is a little rough but the action more than makes up for it. I'd like to have a quart of Persuasion of my own.

This story is about a shape shifter, an alien, and a human. Gideon (main character) was on a faraway planet, and he was a gay man in the military. Gideon did well and went up the ranks. But little did he know others had a plan for him.
I have to admit I was sucked into this story. This is not the stuff I normally read as it as a M/M with a Femdom character. It does have a lot of explicit sex scenes. Now even though this is not my normal read I will for sure be reading more by this arthur as well as recommending to my friends.

This wasn't quite what I was expecting, but I was quite entertained. It gets a little harsh at times, and although I had an idea of what was happening from early on, I enjoyed that aha moment when it was all told. This is a great set up for a series, and this one left me looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. The beginning is pretty rough, with dragon sex getting a little gruesome at times, but it is definitely different, and now that the "initiation" is out of the way, I'm excited to get to the meat of this story.

This one had my immediate interest, but it all went a little quick for me. For that extra star, I would have liked a little more emotion shown, rather than concentrating on the physical abuse, but that's just me. I certainly want to read the next in the series, just to see if any romance does creep in... I guess I just prefer to have my hot and sour with a little sweet!

3.5 StarsRight up my kink alley. A futuristic military man fades out in class, misses important information, signs some paperwork and voila - he wakes up a slave and is auctioned off. Lots of kinky sex and a great twist or two to the story. J. Johanis is a new author for me and I want more. I highly recommend.

Truly and thoroughly traumatized. I know my mouth was hanging open during 90% of this book. Way beyond my comfort zone, but also entertaining enough that I will read the sequel. Almost afraid to think what could happen next.

After having been directed to a blog post by Diverse reader featuring a number of authors who write dark erotic fiction, some of whom I have read previously, an excerpt from the short novel, Drago Star caught my attention. This is the first in series, and as expected there were warnings everywhere – it is dark fiction; you are left in no doubt of what to expect.
Having read the book in one sitting, I put it down and thought “I don’t know what to think”. That was six days ago and now that I have had time to mull it over, I shall call it a learning experience. (Not only can reading garner entertainment, it can help us come to know ourselves.)
The original draw for me was the premise of a small human becoming captive of a beast – a dragon in this instance – it was the threat inherent in the words, the forced capitulation – humanity against the universe. I wanted to see if Gideon ever gained his freedom; but I also won’t deny that the dark theme of sexual slavery in this paranormal setting was a motivation.
The writer’s style in the small excerpt that tempted me fit with all my preferences and my curiosity was pricked.
While the word describing my first reaction at stories end might have been bemused, it is now one of pique. The story stayed with me, the horror for all that Gideon suffered on his journey, played on my mind for a number of days as I tried to work out why I am a person that would even want to read it. I know I enjoy erotica ‘with feeling’ – doesn’t have to be romantic, just amazing sex. This tale held none of that. (And the violence you might ask? Well in the paranormal world, physical harm to your protagonist is seldom enduring, kind of like video games – reboot, respawn - there is always some paranormal explanation for survival, I’ve found.) Suffice to say, I’m still unsure why, but something of the dark curiosity in me just wanted to know more.
Having watched a movie some time ago with similar theme where British soldiers were going ‘through training’ to join the elite forces, what was actually going on in J Johanis’s book I suspected pretty quickly, and really I think there was little intention on the author’s part to hide it. The story was about the journey, the will to survive despite the torture. The violence and subsequent raping perpetrated on Gideon by his Dragon Master, I found to be one thing but the thing that truly got me was the humiliation he had to suffer as a means to control him. Gideon does strike me as a sensitive person underneath his determination to win out. How he will handle his new position knowing what he has suffered is the thing that calls me to read on.

This is more a combined review as I read book 1 & 2 back to back. If you haven't gotten Drago Star make sure you read that first. This won't make sense unless you do. And trust me, you both want to read it and for it to make sense.
Next is my warning: If you're read Drago Star you already know what I'm about to say. Actually, this is more of a reminder than a warning, because if you didn't like dark, non-mainstream, alternative things, you wouldn't be on this page.
Warning:Darkness lurks in these pages. This is not your flowers and rainbows. This is people giving you the side eye for liking it. Ignore their side eye and float on. There is non-consensual BDSM sex, graphic violence and if you squint you might be able to see romance in the far distance. :D Ok, that was mean. There is romance and a HFN in Slash Op.

2. Gideon - Strong, smart, works well under pressure, but seriously needs to learn to read contracts.
3. Drago - The complexity of this man, and the interactions with this man, is too much to get into without giving things away.
4. Dragons - Did you hear me sing it that time?
5. World building - It's subtle(?) It's there, not overpowering and just enough to get you in the story. Which is perfect because anything else would draw away from the characters.
6. Limited Femdom - Not pure M/M scenes, particularly in book 1. Just because it's there doesn't mean run away. It only adds to the story. And I loved it.
7. One more time for the people in the back - DRAGONS!!!!!
This is more a combined review as I read book 1 & 2 back to back. If you haven't gotten Drago Star make sure you read that first. This won't make sense unless you do. And trust me, you both want to read it and for it to make sense.
Next is my warning: If you're read Drago Star you already know what I'm about to say. Actually, this is more of a reminder than a warning, because if you didn't like dark, non-mainstream, alternative things, you wouldn't be on this page.
Warning:Darkness lurks in these pages. This is not your flowers and rainbows. This is people giving you the side eye for liking it. Ignore their side eye and float on. There is non-consensual BDSM sex, graphic violence and if you squint you might be able to see romance in the far distance. :D Ok, that was mean. There is romance and a HFN in Slash Op.

What does it say that it took books with non-con and abuse to get me out of a book slump? That worries me a bit. Oh, well.
First of all, these books are not for the faint of heart. These are dark, rapey tales. Extremely well written, but dark nonetheless. Pay attention to the warnings:
Content Advisory: Graphic violence, dragon sex, & non-con.
If that’s what you want these books are absolutely for you.
J. Johanis is a new to me author but I will definitely look for books by Johanis. Very talented author who can go dark and spin an intriguing tale and still throw in some romance.
The first book, Drago Star, features Captain Gideon being kidnapped and tortured by a dragon shifter. The torture and abuse scenes are intense and cringe inducing but I could not put the book down. I had to find out what was happening. There is non-con sex here. It’s rape even if there are drugs used to make Gideon crave getting fucked. And there are times Drago fucks Gideon in his dragon form.
Like I said. Intense. But amazingly written.

I am horribly late with this review.
This isn't light and fluffy. There are triggers such as non-con involved in this story.
We have Gideon who is on the fast track to become a Star Commander, his goal is to be posted on Earth. There is just one more step he has to go through to achieve that. Get through the training. He is oblivious what he signs himself up for and his life changes around.
Before he knows it he is the captive(sold off) to a dragon shifter and his consent goes out the door. He only has himself to depend on, no one else seems to care about his well being. He is publicly and privately raped. By others he knows on top of that. (As they try to find a way out of it). There are times I think he is just going to give up and commit suicide, but he doesn't. He soldiers on! As time goes by he starts to develop feelings for his captor. Stockholm Syndrome.
I wasn't very fond of the ending.

Four and a half stars!
Ms. Johanis does it again with a deeply sexy dark sci fi fantasy story. I was fascinated with Gideon and all that he went through in his capture. He held out from his torture far longer than I expected. He also has more to handle and deal with after what happened and was revealed at the end of the book. The scenes were ever so slightly disturbing yet beyond sexy. This story is not for those looking for a sweet romance or a traditional erotica. There are distinctly dark themes of non con and blurred lines of consent.
Drago Star is an interesting character that I want to know more about. I feel like there’s some story behind his actions and his claim of not being romantic. I really hope we get to see inside his head more in the sequel. The dragon kind and history is teased at in this book and I’d love to know more.

This sci-fi dragon shifter novella is the first of J. Johanis’s new series! It’s raw, dark, & dirty. It is dark erotic in its most brutal form. There are serious triggers (I won’t spoil anything by telling you) you can see in the blurb and if you understand how “slavery” works you can figure it out.
J. Johanis writes very captivating stories. Ones where you know you shouldn’t read this but you can’t help yourself. Her characters are so vivid and her scenes amazingly descriptive. This isn’t a story for everyone and it isn’t a love story. It’s brutal in a way that if you like rough, raw, and -if I'm being honest- violent; you will love this book. It’s a great story to test your comfort zone because J. Johanis knows what she’s doing.
Oddly enjoyable and entertaining and I’m glad THAT I stepped out of my comfort zone and gave her a try. She’s very gifted.

This was a mixed bag for me, primarily because of the feminization of the MC for humiliation purposes (always a turn off for me in M/M literature) and the extensive use of a female Domme for his training. If I wanted to experience those elements in my reading material, I’d read F/m porn.
On the other hand there’s much to recommend in this novella, especially if you’re a fan of dark erotica, as I am. Humiliations abound for our hapless captive, not only by acts his female trainer heaps upon him, but when he has to face his perpetrators with dignity after the fact. The characters are very well drawn. Some, who appear only briefly like Brett, are compelling enough to make you want to find out more.
Best of all, the hotness factor between the 2 MCs, when alone and sexing it up, was sizzling…. brutally and violently so. (Is there any other way to be fucked by a dragon?)
