A demon, religious trauma, a serial killer, and a priest walking into the same story… yeah, this was never going to end well. 😂 Us throws Memphis Cooper into a nightmare where trauma, madness, religion, and something far more sinister become impossible to separate. Memphis starts with a lifetime of religious trauma and eventually finds himself convinced that a demon has taken control of his body. Then the killings begin, and suddenly the Windy City Cannibal is born And that’s where this book gets seriously twisted. What I really enjoyed was the way the story plays with identity and perception. Is Memphis a man being controlled by something evil? Is his mind protecting him from things he can’t face? Is there a difference between what actually happened and what he believes happened?
The more the story digs into his fractured reality, the more uncomfortable everything becomes. Then we get Father Carlos Palmer, a rising star in the Catholic community who’s sent to save Memphis’s soul. Because apparently “let’s send a priest to reason with the infamous serial killer” is a perfectly normal Tuesday. 😂 But what makes this especially interesting is the collision between Memphis’s trauma, the Church’s ambitions, and whatever supernatural force is pulling the strings.

Nobody feels completely trustworthy.

Nobody seems completely sane.

And nothing is quite what it looks like.

The Windy City setting also gives this a grimy, urban horror atmosphere that works incredibly well with the psychological and supernatural elements.

This isn’t just a serial killer story. It’s a story about trauma, faith, identity, manipulation, and the terrifying places the human mind can go when reality starts cracking.

And that ending?

Let’s just say Book One knows exactly how to leave you wanting answers.

This book really wowed me! He was a new author for me and lemme tell you I’m really in it now! In this story we meet Memphis and poor thing has so many issues! Everyone carries their past with them, but Memphis carries special demons that haunt him. This story is deranged, dreadful, and full of BRUTALITY. A must read for sure and I can’t wait for the others!! The twists and turns really keep you hanging and you won’t be able to put it down! Well done!

This was a WILD af ride! 💀 Literally, the brutality is straight there from the beginning and doesn’t let up at all!

This is my first splatterpunk novel which focuses on possession and I ate it tf up. If you love entities and demons, you absolutely have to read this! Also - the chapter ‘Dick Head’ absolutely broke me 💀 I’ve literally never read body horror like this and it was incredible! Andddd… there’s a sequel upcoming 😍

Once I heard there was going to be a prequel for TKS I knew I had to read it, but when I tell you I did not expect this. Brutality and gore started immediately (had to hug my kitty for a long while after a specific scene). Post-Mortem never fails with his gore, character building, and twists. If you’re a lover of splatterpunk and extreme horror, i’ll always recommend him. Always check your triggers and enjoy!

Absolutely unhinged, gruesome, and vile. This is a prequel to Torture Kill Survive, following Memphis and how he came to be. So, so twisted. Some of the scenes when Memphis grows up and starts acting on his darkest impulses are so disgusting.
There some twistiness at the end. I highly recommend this for anyone with a strong stomach and who loves a nasty origin story!
