I'm not sure what I was expecting from a book like this. While the information presented was pretty good, it seems like there must be more to say. Frankly, much of what was talked about I had either read in my detector's manual or thought up on my own.
Also, two websites were mentioned for historic maps and property reporting and each required exorbitant amounts of money to use. Who, in their right mind, would spend that much as a beginner in a hobby with the potential for little in return?
There was one idea I'll try out. I'm going to prepare a test area in my own yard to see how my detector works. So there is that...

Great read

I have followed Brandon via YouTube for a while and have been impressed with his enthusiasm regarding metal detecting.

I was happy to discover he had written a book & purchased it almost immediately.

He is thorough, takes the time to explain every detail and, as a result, I read this in record time.

Thank you, Brandon, for pouring your heart and soul into this book. I look forward to new adventures via YouTube and hope to see another book in the very near future.

Seems to be the most useful if you are absolute beginner. Still helpful if you are intermediate or advanced. I really liked the chapter on recognizing old places. For brick and mortar, I now know what a row lock is. Also liked some of the research resources listed in the book.
