Once a gourmet baker designing elite desserts, Kevin Walker now works at a second-rate bakery and dreams of opening a dessert bar with his best friend, mixologist Troy. When Troy secretly applies for a Main Street storefront on Ember Isle, an exclusive gay millionaires' retreat, they're accepted – despite how Kevin's always said he's straight. Kevin's not worried; he's secure enough in his sexuality. He's never been with a woman, but then, he's never found the right one... right?
Billionaire Eli Black thought he had it all until he walked in on his high-rolling actor boyfriend Tom rolling in the hay with another man. His closest friend Dean drags him to Ember Isle to make him have fun while they wait for Tom to make the news public. He doesn't think he can flirt again, but before he can even set foot on the island, he's proven wrong. When he later spots a dessert bar and can't resist a peek before opening time, the man he met earlier catches his eye. He wants Kevin over his knee and in his bed... and he doesn't believe for a second that Kevin is straight.
Eli and Kevin try to understand their intense mutual attraction at first meeting, and they're drawn together for fun in the island heat. Wires cross afterwards as they realize they're more than a one-night stand, yet Kevin thinks Eli is lying to him about being single. Can their budding relationship survive its first test?
Spark is the first book in the Island Heat series. Book two, Sizzle, will be released on July 31st, 2015.
E. Davies writes feel-good, low-angst romance that never fades to black when the going gets good! Born in Canada, after 16 moves and counting, Ed has finally put down roots in north London.
He emerges from his writing nest to coo over fuzzy animals, flee from cute guys, dance through the streets with his chosen family, put together fierce looks, and—most of all—befriend local flowers.
Kevin and Troy get an unimaginable opportunity to try out their business idea on an island. Kevin has been unhappy with his life, as it was all work, no appreciation and no play. He is a baker, truly creative and looking forward to the chance he and his mixology friend have, a dessert bar, mixed drinks and luscious baked concoctions to go with the after dinner treats. They are headed to an island getaway for gay billionaires, but Kevin is straight. The isle is packed with happy, easygoing, gay men in search of a good time or just good companions to spend time with taking advantage of the island's amenities. Eli has recently broken off with his fiancé, who he found screwing someone else in their bed. It's unexplainable, but Eli is drawn to Kevin, and just as strange was Kevin wanted Eli. They have explosive, erotic, awesome M/M sex. Eli was unaware, until after, that this was new territory for Kevin, but Kevin tells him, he wasn't interested before, but he is now, only because it's Eli. Eli's ex, Tom is lurking, and we don't know yet what that means !! Things are going so sweetly, I am looking forward to so much more from these lovely men. Highly enjoying this one !!!! :) (part one of three)
This was a fun and easy read with no real drama. I needed this light piece after reading a couple of rough stories. Terrific characters as always from Mr. Davies.
An Island just for gay Millionaire and Billionaires. What a concept!
Kevin the ‘straight’ baker and his best friend Troy whom is a bartender slash mixologist have been selected to open up a dessert bar on said gay island. Eli the billionaire and his best friend Dean have decided that after the recent ordeal that Eli has been thru, they need to go spend some time on Ember Isle. Kevin hasn’t even found his footing on the Isle when Eli catches a glimpse of him and decides that he needs to meet him.
The guys meet and form a fast connection. I really enjoyed the little bit of time they spend getting to know each other, I wish they would have acquainted themselves a little bit more before they got to the good stuff. And for someone who hasn’t had ANY sexual experience with anyone male or female Kevin sure went for the gusto! I’m all for him throwing caution to the wind and just following his cock..errr gut and just going for it and that he did. But…
First books in series & serials usually spend time ‘setting up’ and preparing us for more books down the road. It helps paint the picture that the author is seeing. While painting that picture for us Troy & Dean made HUGE impressions on me (almost more than Eli & Kevin) so I hope that they will get some time in the Isle spotlight.

This was certainly a nice quick easy read. Kevin a baker, and Eli a billionaire meet on an island created specifically for rich gay men. How can we go wrong with this concept? Eli is still dealing with a recent break up, and Kevin is 'straight', yet there attraction to each other is fairly instant so they decide to explore it further. The book was basically a build up, and setting the scene for these two as a couple, so we really only see them together at the end, but I look forward to reading the other books in the series to see where it goes, and what drama Tom being on the island will bring.

Kevin Walker is a gourmet baker, who enjoys making desserts and dreams of opening a dessert bar with his best friend, Troy. Troy, who is gay, secretly applies for a storefront on Ember Isle, an exclusive gay millionaires' retreat. After they get accepted, Kevin agrees to go even though he is straight. He has never been with a woman and has hardly even kissed before.
Eli Black is a billionaire, who just discovered his boyfriend, a famous actor, was cheating on him. Eli walked in on Tom having sex with someone else in their bed. Ouch. Eli's friend encourages him to on vacation to Ember Isle. He has gone in the past with Tom. Eli decides to go anyway while he waits for Tom to make the breakup public.
Eli see Kevin as they arrive on the island. They have a cute interaction involving a crab. When Eli touches Kevin's hand, they both feel something special. Kevin reminds himself that he is straight, even as he thinks how attractive Eli is. The next day Eli step into an open shop door to discover Kevin. Kevin rudely states that the place is not open yet. After seeing that it is Eli, he tells Eli that the dessert bar with be open soon and invites him to come back then. Kevin gives Eli a quick kiss, surprising them both.
After the kiss, Kevin is not sure of his feelings. He enjoyed the kiss with Eli, but he is straight. Eli comes to the grand opening of the dessert bar. Kevin is happy to see him. They share a great kiss. Kevin goes home with Eli. These two share a special night together. Kevin doesn't realize who Eli is until he leaves and see Tom, Eli's ex, outside the house (mansion).
I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next book in the series. I love Eli and Kevin and want a HEA for them. I want to find out what happens with Tom and why he is on the island. My only issue is that with Kevin being a virgin and never being with a man, I would have expected him to say something during the whole sex scene or freak out a little. Other than that, I thought it was a very sweet and sexy scene. Eli and Kevin had a lot sexual tension through out the story.
Cliffhanger = yes Sexy / Hotness = 4.5 stars Romance = 4.5 stars Recommend To Others = yes Characters = 5 stars One of them can make great desserts, like the French Kiss!

This is intro novella about the spark between Billionaire Eli Black and Baker Kevin Walker. I breezed through this story. Both characters were likable. Each chapter goes back and forth from the POV of either Kevin and Eli. I thought I would mind that but it was such good read through. I enjoyed this novella enough hat I wish to continue with this series. It started on bad note but good but cliffy. I would also note that it was bit cliche but sometimes you need to read something familiar. (3.5 stars).
This is a fairy tales, in the island of billionaires, all single, handsome, and gay. This is the story where you can find so many attractive billionaires in one plate. Did I mentioned they're almost ALL handsome? :)
And as I can predicted before, of course a Cinderfella story, in fact, at one time Eli called Kevin "Hi, Cinderfella". So yeah, live in dream, my friend. Maybe this one for you. Quite entertaining, with some twist in the end of the journey.

I give this book a solid 3 stars.
Kevin Walker, a supposedly straight guy, gives up his job working at a second-rate bakery to open a dessert bar with his best friend on the Main Street storefront on Ember Isle, an exclusive gay millionaires' retreat. Billionaire Eli Black, suffering from heartache after he walks in on his high-rolling actor boyfriend Tom rolling in the hay with another man accepts an invitation from closest friend to Ember Isle to wait for the news to go public.
I really liked the business concept behind this story about this enterprising duo heading off to a gay resort for the opportunity to make enough money to start the business of their dreams. The setup was nice and the author spent a great deal of page time investing in the realities of opening up a business. I appreciated Kevin’s industriousness as much as I shook my head at his best friend’s constant interest in partying at the resort. Speaking of Kevin’s industriousness, I found Eli’s lack of anything to do, even while supposedly on vacation, to be a turn off. I mean billionaire means having lots of money which means having to do lots of minding…even when you are sunning. Instead, he basically lives like a teenager or socialite…for someone whose such a non-partier. Maybe if he had been a business advisor instead, like Rusty, the effect would have been more dynamic. It also would have allowed for more interaction.
These two quickly hit it off after meeting on the dock their first day on the isle. The supposedly straight Kevin finds himself hand holding and being romanced by Eli within minutes. Making this story not so much GFY as it was I didn’t know I was gay. I found the idea of Eli anonymity to be a little farfetched. I mean if Eli isn’t the help…he’s obviously the helped. That means the whole reveal about Tom was wasted on me.
Tony and Dean were very active secondary characters, but I was a little disappointed when their little fling didn't produce much...oh well who knows what will happen in future books.
I’ve got high hopes for this world and I’m interested to see how Eli and Kevin shake out. I also wouldn’t mind seeing a few more romances on Main Street!

Billionaire Eli ends things with his cheating A-list actor fiancé, Tom, and to cheer him up, Eli’s best friend, Dean, takes him to the resort island they frequent that is only for gay billionaires. On the docks, Eli meets supposedly straight Kevin Walker who is there to set up his dessert bar with his gay best friend, Troy. Kevin is a baker and Troy is a bar tender mixologist. Kevin and Eli hit it off on the docks and Eli finds that he wants to find Kevin and get to know him better. Kevin, thought of himself as straight, but was surprised at the feelings that Eli stirs up in him. Eli visits Kevin at his store before the grand opening of the island and they are even more drawn to each other but agree to wait to see each other until opening day, several days off. Needless to say, opening night, Kevin goes home with Eli. They have a very hot night together with some additional kink. As Kevin is leaving, he sees Tom lurking around Eli’s mansion and it dawns on him who Eli is. He’s seen Eli in the media with Tom and knows they are engaged. He storms back up to Eli’s house to demand an explanation for why Eli used Kevin to cheat on Tom. Eli explains the situation and Kevin is relieved but Eli is furious that Tom is snooping around his home. And there, book one ends.
I really enjoyed this book. The romance is a slow burn and realistic. I didn’t have a problem with the kink in the bedroom. Both of them were turned on and hot for it and what kink that was involved I felt was fairly vanilla. Both Eli and Kevin are likable characters and I couldn’t wait for them to get together. Troy and Dean are secondary characters in the story and they make excellent best friends. They both hook up with each other, but that story line is very minor.
I have the date of the second book marked on my calendar. I’m looking forward to reading it to find out why Tom is on the island and what Eli does about it. I want to see how Eli and Kevin’s relationship further develops. I’d also like to see if Troy and Dean get out of the role of slutty best friends and fall for each other. Great overall story. Highly recommended. Can’t wait to find out what happens next.
I was lucky enough to get a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review... ~Mild Spoilers~
This book was a really cute short read... Eli had walked in on his fiance in their bed with another man, upon throwing his ring at him and tellin him to take a hike, he calls his friend Dean to tell him what he just saw... Dean talks him into goin to Ember Isle to get away and lick his wounds while spending the summer cruisin for guys to get over him and a bit of fun... Meanwhile
Kevin is stuck working at a crappy bakery making less money than he should doing grunt work while he should be doin his own thing and making his own stuff in his own place, while his BFF and room mate Troy secretly signs them up for a program for young entrepreneurs, they decide to pack their bags and also head to the Ember Isle to try their hand at making their dream of a desert bar... Kevin with his talent for baking and Troy with his wicked bartending abilities... wouldn't you know upon check in has Kevin meeting Eli and Dean meeting Troy...
Dean and Troy were mainly secondary charecters but they hook up night one, Kevin seems a bit more serious about this desert bar and really jumps in and gives it a go, the cute meeting between Eli and Kevin has Eli thinking about him more than he wants to, but he finds himself dropping by to see Kevin more and more.... Cut to opening night and Eli drops by again but this time he doesn't go home alone....
I really liked Kevin and Eli together, they're both sweet and attractive and I think they'd be good together... Kevin ends up seeing Eli's old fiance and it kinda ends after he confronts Eli, thinking he just cheated on his well known fiance, but after some explaining, he realizes he's got real feelings for Kevin... I'm really looking forward to the next one, I reeeally hate cliffhangers, I don't usually read a book if I know there is one until the next one comes out... I'm too impatient, luckily I only have to wait til the end of the month for this one... Overall it was a cute short read and I enjoyed it very much. 4 stars for me :D

Spark is a short novella and is the start of a series. It is a quick, easy read with low angst and low drama. I was just getting into the story when it ended, so I would read the next book in the series. The storyline shows a lot of promise, I'm interested in seeing where the author is taking the two main characters.
The setting of an exclusive, luxury island for rich, gay men is fascinating. Everything they need, and every fantasy they desire can be fulfilled here. Eli is a guest on the island with his friend Dean, he's there to recover from a break up with a cheating boyfriend. Kevin is a talented baker, but he's fed up of working in working in a second rate bakery. He's shocked when Kevin and his friend Troy are given a chance to set up their own dessert bar on Ember Isle, but decides that it is a chance he can't afford to turn down. Kevin is in his early twenties and is a virgin, he's also unsure if he's gay or straight. But when he meets Eli, the chemistry between them is instant. Their first meeting involves some crabs and is absolutely hilarious!
Both of the main characters are likeable, especially Kevin who's a real sweetheart, and I look forward to finding out more about them. This is a nice, quick read that sets the scene nicely for future books. There's not too much to the story and it took me a while to connect to the characters, which is why I've only given it three stars, but it shows a lot of potential to improve as the story progresses.

Short, sweet, and awesome, even if it is a slight cliffhanger. The good news is that book 2 is out already and book 3 will be out only days after I finished reading this, so the wait won't be too painful. I have already hopped over and purchased both books. :-)
Eli is a very rich guy who lives with his movie star fiance, Tom, and comes home to find him with another man. JERK! I immediately felt for Eli and wanted him to find someone better than Tom. Eli's best friend convinces him to spend time at Ember Isle to get away.
Kevin is a quiet, seemingly straight guy who focuses more on his career goals than his love life. When his best friend arranges for them to open a shop on the exclusive Ember Isle, he finally gets to try his hand at his dream. He ends up meeting Eli and they hit it off.
I liked how Kevin didn't shy away from his feelings for Eli. He thought he was straight, but had never been attracted to anyone really. Rather than freak out when he had attraction to Eli, he decided to go with it. I liked how there wasn't angst, denial, or negativity surrounding the discovery. It was refreshing for it to just BE OK.
As I mentioned, this had a bit of a cliffhanger ending. It could technically have ended with this being an HFN story, but it is clear there is more for us to learn. I am looking forward to reading the next 2 books so I can get a HEA for Kevin and Eli. I really liked this story.
This was a short novella read and the start of a series.
Kevin is a baker with big dreams, but currently working his socks off in a lowly cake shop. Thanks to his flat-mate Troy, they get an opportunity of a lifetime to set up a business to cater to the rich and elite on a secluded Island for the summer. Eli is one of the rich and elite, renting a house on the Island to get over his recent split from fiancé Tom, who he catches doing the horizontal mumbo without him. They meet as they land on the Island - Kevin is defending the life of a small crab and sparks fly.
Then it becomes slow burn, it is told in dual POV and this allows the characters a little room to develop, especially Kevin's realisation that he wants to explore what Eli has to offer. It is sweet and easy going until about 80% and then things go a little pear shape. I understood Kevin's action,a little dramatic maybe but Eli's response was a tad on the wishy-washy side. Then the story finished......WHAT!!! My pet peeve is cliffhangers, regardless of whether they are a bitch and leave you swinging in the wind or gentle rocking and nibbling your fingernails for the next instalment - I need my contented *sigh*, I expect my HEA!! But I'm being made to wait for it *pout*
Overall, this is an easy, low drama read.

This was a short quick read. Billionaire Eli Black walked in on his actor boyfriend Tom James having sex with another man. After calling off his engagement his friend Dean decides to drag him to the Ember Isle to make him have fun while they wait for Tom to make the news public. Once a gourmet baker designing elite desserts, Kevin Walker now works at a second-rate bakery and dreams of opening a dessert bar with his best friend, mixologist Troy. When Troy secretly applies for a Main Street storefront on Ember Isle, an exclusive gay millionaires' retreat, they're accepted. Kevin is sure that he is straight although he has never been with a woman and has no interest in them. On the first day on the island he meets Eli they both feel a spark between them leaving them both wanting to get to no each other. When these two hook up Kevin doesn't tell Eli that it's his first time Kevin feels so much pleasure that he realizes that he never knew what he was missing. After the deed is done and he leaves he sees Tom sneaking around he realizes who Eli is and goes back to confront him. This was a really good book and it is the first book in a new series and a new author to me. This book was well written with no errors in spelling or grammar. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Kevin is a baker working at a second rate bakery. His buddy Troy signs them up to run their dream business, at least for the summer, on Ember Island, an island exclusively for the wealthy.
Eli runs to Ember Island with his best friend, Dean, after catching his fiance superstar, Tom Jones, in bed with another man.
Eli and Kevin meet on their first day on Ember Island. The sparks fly and continue to burn higher with each encounter.
I don't know where to start. I thoroughly enjoyed Spark. Kevin was so cute, especially since he thought he was straight. I am glad Ms. Davies didn't give us a lot of angsty drama with Kevin coming to terms with the fact he might not be as straight and he believes. Eli is patient with Kevin but pushes him just a little with each encounter.
As expected, when Kevin and Eli finally get together, it's explosive. The only thing that was a little unbelievable, was that Kevin had no reservations about anything that happened, which was odd for me since Kevin has still a virgin.
I am eagerly awaiting book two, Sizzle. I need to find out what happens with the person that Kevin unexpectedly bumps into.
An ARC copy of this book was provided to me in exchange for an unbiased review.
Billionaire Eli Black find his fiancé cheating on him and as comfort his friend, Dean, suggests they go to the Ember Isle. A resort that caters to the rich, offering a safe place to hook up and relax. It's there he meets Kevin and the sparks of attraction fly.
The first part in a serial and it was a nice introduction to the characters. The POV alternates between Eli and Kevin so readers get to know each character individually. The author does have me hooked and I look forward to seeing more and learning more about the characters especially Kevin, whom seems to rely on a hearing aid? (or so it appears at the start of the story but isn't mentioned as the story progresses), what Tom is up to when he isn't suppose to be on the island and what will happen between Eli and Kevin.
So this book starts of dramatically, with Eli walking in on his then fiance, Tom, cheating on him in his own bed. So his best friend Dean drags him off to Ember Isle, where they stumble across friends and business partners Kevin and Troy. Troy and Dean are of like minds, enjoying the random hookups. Eli has a complicated situation, waiting for Tom to make their breakup public and things with Kevin move fast, considering Kevin thought he was straight. How Kevin thought he was straight is beyond me when he's never had a real attraction to women and seems to be a virgin, but stranger things have happened. I sincerely hope the second book continues Kevin and Eli's story. The way it ended just screams drama in the future.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. Eli is a gay billionaire and had walked in on his fiancé in his bed with another man. After breaking it off with him Eli calls his best friend Dean. Dean talks him into going to Ember Isle (for the billionaire and millionaires) to get over his broken heart and heal. Kevin whom is a straight pastry chef works at a dead end bakery job not making the money he should. His gay roommate Troy signs them up to open their own business on Ember Isle hoping they get it and make their big break. Upon docking on Ember Isle Eli sees Kevin on the docks and Troy meets Dean in the office. Eli can't stop thinking about Kevin and decides to drop by his shop to see him. How does this journey go from here for Eli and Kevin.
I really enjoy E Davies' billionaire romance books. This one is set on a playboy island, where Eli and his mate Dean have rented a house to help Eli get over the discovery of his fiancé enjoying another man in their bed. Also newly arrived are Troy and Kevin, starting their own business; the culmination of their dreams, a dessert bar serving cocktails and fancy cakes and pastries. Kevin has never really a dated, never finding another person who caught his interest until he meets Eli on the harbour side. The chemistry is instant and Eli and Kevin are drawn to each other... I look forward to the next segment soon
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cute story. Usually I’m not one for serial stories, but this book didn’t leave any major cliff hangers. Kevin has never really been attracted to anyone (male or female), however believes he must be straight. When his friend Troy gets them the chance to start their own business he meets Eli. He is instantly drawn to him, but doesn’t know what to do as he has never felt this way before. Eli is fresh from a break-up and was planning to get away, then he meets Kevin and is instantly attracted to him. He didn’t plan on getting involved with anyone, but won’t risk this opportunity.
I have never read this author before and I gotta say this was a pretty good one to choose.
A baker, bartender, and billionaires? on an island? yes please! It reminds me of those store fronts in Sarasota, FL. lol I love the concept of this book.
The story flowed well, the characters, though while the story was short, seemed developed well enough. It has drama, humor, sexual tension you can cut a knife with, and holy hotness!
While this is book 1 in the series, it doesn't necessarily end on a cliffhanger, It feels more like a continuation. I will definitely be reading the follow up at the end of the month
Disclaimer: This book was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved this story line, it was very different and had me intrigued to keep reading. I loved the characters, and very much enjoyed the m/m descriptive sex scene. It was hot.
The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because I found the beginning a little hard to follow. I can't put my finger on exactly what it was that made it hard to follow, but I suspect it was just a lot of information on 2 different couples.
I will definitely read the next book, and thank you for ending this one on a great note and not with a cliff hanger.
I received a copy of this book from the author via IndiGo Marketing & Design in exchange for an honest review. I love all the characters in this book. There was no violence in this story. The sexual chemistry between Kevin and Eli is well written. the characters are being developed throughout the story. At the end there was a twist to the story that I obviously didn't see coming so I'm real curious where the author is going with it. My only issue was that I felt Kevin and Eli should have known a little bit more about each other before they did anything. A simple joke or something about him being a virgin before they did anything. Looking forward to book 2.
3.5 stars. This was a short but sweet read. I liked the idea of the struggling baker and the well known billionaire falling for each other on an Island set up to cater to rich, gay men. The way the book is written, you feel like you get to know the characters and they’re all likeable. There’s no angst and although the story ends on a cliff hanger, it’s more like it’s left open to move onto the next instalment rather than actually leaving you hanging.
Love it. I received for an honest review. Eli was trying to get away from something bad that happened and found himself wanting someone that thought himself straight. Kevin was given the chance to follow his dream and open his own shop with his best friend. But he didn't realize what he would find out about himself as well. E named this book right, as the sparks would fly as soon as Eli and Kevin meet. I loved how open the two were together. I can't wait for Sizzle.
With each new book that E. Davies writes, I fall more in love with her characters. The broken-hearted Eli and the seemingly asexual Kevin have sparks flying from their first meeting, and the book is aptly named. I'm going to enjoy following their journey in the next book, and look forward to seeing what all comes about. Definitely read this book!!!
I got this book in exchange of an honest review, I loved the chemistry between them, Eli and Kevin are both charming and interesting characters. I think the relationship between them is sweet, I mean how they meet is cute as well as how the event end up the sparks the love desire was hot as always E.Davies know show to entice his readers and make them desire more
Great dialog really helps you to feel like I really know these characters . The chemistry between the main characters is amazing . The story's sexy action is slightly kinky but delicious. Can't wait for book 2. Charo
