Tedd grew up with three brothers. His family lived on a farm in Pennsylvania for several years then returned to Elmira until Tedd was ten years old. His father's work then required that they move to Gainesville, Florida. There, Tedd's first art lessons in an abandoned dentist's office over the Happy Hour pool hall eventually led to a fine arts degree from the University of Florida.

He and his wife, Carol, started their family in Tallahassee where Tedd worked as a commercial illustrator. Carol, a kindergarten teacher, drew Tedd's attention to children's books. Their first son, Walter, inspired his breakthrough picture book, NO JUMPING ON THE BED!.

He and his family now live in Elmira. His second son, William, now stars in NO MORE WATER IN THE TUB!, a sequel to his first book. He has now published over 50 books as author and illustrator.

I really like the Fly Guy Presents series. Tedd Arnold has found a way for struggling readers to enjoy reading nonfiction and learn a lot of facts along the way.

This is a non-fiction book about snakes with Buzz and Fly Guy making some funny comments on the pages. I think this book would be great for kids who really like Fly Guy and would encourage the kids to venture out into different topics. There was a lot of information. Some of the pictures were kind of small and hard to see, especially since I was reading to my kids instead of them reading this to themselves. Also, although all the information was good, I felt the book kind of jumped from topic to topic - there was no real flow.

Fly Guy and Buzz go to the zoo and this time end up in the snake house. (Shudder!)

Snakes creep me out but I learned about them and they aren't so bad but I still do not want to touch them. I appreciated the photos showing the different snakes. I liked learning about their habits as well as those that are poisonous and how to protect yourself if bitten. Hopefully you won't be! I chuckled at Fly Guy's remarks through the story.

This is a fun series.

Been on the lookout for a good series to follow the Who Would Win series (granted we still have at least two of these in our house at any given time). This Fly Guy series was informational but presented in a fun way. More information then WWW series. I also learned that there are some snakes who give birth to baby snakes and not eggs! I always appreciate learning something!

I am enjoying learning facts from this series. I did not know snake scales are made up of keratin. I also didn't know they never close their eyes, although that makes Mo Willems' My New Friend is So Fun make a lot more sense... I guess something I am not enjoying is the evolution and "Earth is millions of years old." Not everyone believes that.

I did find it interesting that snakes bite and poison their prey first, and then they are able to swallow it whole. And I didn't realize snakes don't dance, they follow the movement of flutes sometimes.

I looked at this fast so my cat wouldn't rip the library book apart like my other snake books. I hope that others can learn from this too. It seems right from what I could see but I didn't look for long and I don't know for sure.

From my 6 year old

It taught me about snake venom. It taught me about different kinds of snakes. I really liked the book. It was interesting.

This was a perfect book to read after seeing a snake in our yard. My sister and I learned some new snake facts from it

Grade KG to 3 seem to love this series! My son and I appreciate the real photos. I also like the short facts that make it accessible to younger readers.

In easy to understand language, Fly Guy and Buzz explore the world of snakes found at the local zoo. Not only do they consider the fact that they are reptiles with the associated characteristics, but they also learn about how snakes move, smell, and experience texture. Additionally, readers learn about their reproductive habits and myths through the eyes of Fly Guy and Buzz who are always up for a field trip. Fans of the series will enjoy many of the asides next to the main content, and anyone with the slightest interest in snakes will have fun looking at the photographs and answering the true/false questions at the end of the book.

Fly Guy and Buzz head to the snake house at the zoo. When Buzz mentions snake house, Fly Guy, humorously imagines a snake sticking out both ends of a house. With cartoon art superimposed over or collaged alongside crisp, clear, full-color photographs, there's a lot to look at in this informative, high-interest early reader. Fly Guy and snakes, who can resist?

My students are big fans of Fly Guy and I love that they are doing nonfiction books now too. Although I hate snakes I found this book very well written and so appealing to students. It is going to be available for purchase at our Book Fair and I can see it being a big seller.

Feels less dense in this book of the series. More the early reader it's intended to be. Still could use a little more Fly Guy since that the draw for many.
