Deadpool has fallen through time, only to find himself on the doorstep of a teenaged Peter Parker?! Get ready for the Amazing Deadpool's first clash with Kraven the Hunter!
This was a comic I regret not getting when I was at the height of my collecting days. I could have gotten for myself a unique comic, not so much as it is a collectible (it probably is now, when the movie hype and relatively low print run), but because of how Kelly composed a time travel structured within an actual Silver Age comic (Amazing Spider-Man #47).
Reading it after almost two decades and it still a funny story. It is definitely one of the highlights of Kelly's seminal run on the character.
In this issue we meet The Watcher, a man that lives on the moon and observes the people on Earth. A situation is brought to his attention- that Deadpool and Al are about to teleport right on top of an older lady. The good news though, they managed to teleport together without any anomalies... Or so he thinks. When Deadpool teleports to the Hellhouse, he finds that it is Sister Margarets Home For Wayward Girls. Deadpol soon realizes that he and Al had transported back in time! Turns out, Deadpool and Doorman tried to use their power/teleporter at the same time, and they didn't mix well. While in the past, Deadpool discovers that he is Peter Parker's (Spiderman) house. In a photo he sees a young Weasel. Thinking Weasel can fix his teleportation belt if he goes to find him, Deadpool decides to use his tech to look exactly like Peter in order to prevent messing up the timestream. But of course, he gets himself into quite the situation, which includes a fight with Kraven the Hunter, and risks changing the past.
This issue also included the story how it turned out the "first time around."
Favorite line: "Wade! Wade! Wade of the jungle! Strong as he can be--! AhhhAhh! Watch out for my knee!"-Deadpool, swinging in on a rope.

Too long, ALMOST didn’t finish! Luckily I got the book at my local library. The worst part is that I was really anticipating this issue, after hearing this was one of the best DP issues. It is not. Aside from some funny jabs at 60s attire/tropes, there’s nothing here. Skip it unless you think you’ll like it. Takes way too long to get going, and when it does it’s only passable.
This is a confirmation for me that I don't much enjoy Deadpool comics. This issue is a trip to the past to ASM 47. Kraven the hunter crashes a party with Norman, MJ and Gwen. This party is also revisited, with significant changes in Spider-Man: Blue.
I loved the mix of 1960s style comics with the 1990s style. It was great to see them come together for that story. I'm not sure it worked EXACTLY, haha. It was cool to have the past and present Weasels, but ... the ages didn't seem right. That would make present Weasel in his 50s, wouldn't it? Even if he was 18 in 1960something, he'd be 30ish years older. Making him late 40s at the very youngest. Maybe he just appears younger for some unknown reason.
ANYWAYS, this seems like a HUGE beginning to Deadpool's obsession with Spider-man. It's especially interesting since it's OLD Spider-man he's been around. Or not around, but posing as. Technically he hopped universes as well as time ... and Weasel still changed. Ah, stop overthinking this Joe and just move on to the next one! P. S. Blind Al was a gem in this issue. And the portrayal of Mary Jane cracked me up.
