For nearly five years, Deuce managed to keep his gang out of serious trouble, but a favor for a friend of a friend puts Deuce in a hell of a spot—take temporary—and unwilling—custody of a young man in a relationship that’s way over his head or leave him in the path of a near-certain death? Despite his decision to leave college-boy’s safety to chance in order to protect his gang from potential kidnapping charges, Cooper ends up cuffed to Deuce’s bed and he discovers fate has a different solution in mind. When Cooper McElroy is kidnapped by bikers, he has no idea his life is about to change forever. From the moment he meets their sinfully sexy leader Deuce, he realizes the attraction might be more dangerous than the situation the bikers claim to have saved him from. Kept in an isolated location, Cooper discovers this is one gang that doesn’t seem to have issues with territory—it’s all share and share alike. Cooper’s only protection is Deuce’s order declaring him strictly off limits. But the more time Cooper spends with Deuce, the more his body insists it knows what it wants—so who’s going to save him now? Cooper’s about to discover a new life on the open road…and what it means to be part of a gang that shares almost everything. Will he continue to seek his freedom or beg the gang to take him on the ride of his life?
Episode 1 Cooper receives a most unpleasant surprise from his boyfriend, who refuses to take no for an answer. When a stranger intervenes, Cooper finds himself on the back of the stranger's bike and wonders if he's just been pulled from the frying pan only to be tossed straight into the fire.
Episode 2: Cooper discovers freedom from his abusive ex-boyfriend looks an awful lot like captivity of another sort. As he searches for a way to escape, his inner demon bitch voice points out he might be protesting the situation just a little too much. Especially once he gets a look at Deuce in…action.
Episode 3: Cooper discovers not all escapes are created equal, and one man’s cage might be another man’s refuge. If only he knew which man he was… When he realizes he’s the one to put the disappointment in Deuce’s eyes, Cooper decides to battle back against the memories holding him prisoner. If only this slow-motion-train-wreck called ‘his life’ wasn’t threatening to destroy them all.
Episode 4 Deuce gives Cooper a feel of what it would be like to live life on the road with the DSC, but for Deuce…having a plan come together has never gone so wrong.
Episode 5: Cooper’s ex changes the game in the middle of a deal, and Deuce’s wild. For Cooper, the stakes have never been higher.
Episode 6 Cooper discovers what’s true for one man isn’t necessarily the truth for the other, and even the simplest of decisions may have unintended the consequences.
I am so glad that my friend Michelle recommended this series to me. This series had everything ~ lovable characters ~ hot bikers with their twinks (Ricky, lol! Loved him!) and a great plot. The interaction between all of them (and yes, ahem, there was some crazy interaction!) which normally I don't like group love fests, all worked. Deuce and Coop could have worked as the perfect hetero couple as well. Each part of the series flowed perfectly into the next ~ the writing was as perfect as I've ever read ~ grammar, sentence structure, spelling ... A breath of fresh air! Now that I've found this author, I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.
I want to start off by saying I normally like this author. I love the Altered States series and enjoy Willow Springs. However, I feel like I was duped by the prospect of Deuce. I had no connection with the characters and found most of them completely unbelievable. The drama was contrived and over the top, the group sex was basically unnecessary. But whatever, I guess that's what bikers do, so I'll move on. There were multiple editing and consistency errors that had me about ready to return the book multiple times. But something in me kept hoping for that redeeming spark to make its presence and make me feel like I hadn't wasted $2.99. It never happened. Never. I tried. I made it through, but I'm so thankful this was not my first book by Ms. Harner. If it had been, I'd never have read anything else by her and would've missed out on her other (much better in my opinion) stories. This book was a complete miss for me.
10/2015.... Reducing my rating since I'm unsure if this was even an original series. Will not be reading anything else by this author.
