Desperate times will call for desperate measures as Brother Ronan MacAlasdair is once again called upon to defend the Faith in an effort to hold the last vestige of the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem.

Great blend of history and character literary license in making
The Siege of Acre came to life showing the struggle between two powerful religious cultures and the tremendous sacrifices made in human life was thought provoking.
Well, those damned Mamelukes finally took Acre, but not until Ronan MacAlasdair and his fellow Templars (along with the Knights of St. John, the Teutonic Knights and all the rest of the Crusaders) made those heathens pay three times its worth in blood. Yeah, the Mamelukes took the city, but Ronan made them really sorry that they did.
I love this series. It is a well written, captivating tale concerning the making of a Scots/Irish galloglass warrior.
I am not a fast reader, but I have managed to finish this book in record time. I can honestly say this book is so engrossing you can't put it down. I have thoroughly enjoyed all 3 Gallowglass books an eagerly await the next instalment.
This book and the other books One and Two. The stories are fast moving and the Fights and Battles are well written and are very interesting. (The problem is I cannot find book Four. Book three mentioned a Book four but no title.
This series is good escapist reading. Bloody fights, miraculous escapes and the occasional damsel in distress. Always enjoy these easy, quick and fun reads.
