Olivia has always done the right thing, worn the right clothes, had the right job, and dated the right guy. Or so it seemed from the outside. She made her way through law school by the skin of her teeth, then dined on the fanciest of microwave dinners once she was accepted at a prestigious firm. It was there that she met Jonathan, her best friend and gay work husband. Or is he?
Jonathan has watched his bestie Liv find herself. From the moment she stepped through the doors at the firm they both worked at, he’s just known they were meant to be so much more. There were nights spent awake with his husband and life partner, Noah, deciphering what their attraction to Olivia meant, and now he’s finally gotten the chance to pursue something with her. If only he can find his bravery and take a risk, he just might find the piece they’ve been missing for years.
Noah is a successful baker, husband, and friend to many. When he found out his husband was falling in love with that sexy woman from the firm, it was one of the hardest times in his life. But when they agreed to try to invite her into their marriage, it turned into the best.
What will happen when these three professionals try to merge their lives and meddling coworkers and mothers attempt to interfere? Can they navigate societal norms and find their way to something more without crashing and burning? The obstacles ahead of them will only disappear once they decide their love is worth fighting for.
Kat Watson is a non-professional mom, lover, paper crafter, baker, and chef. Sometimes she plays the role of maid, usually when she's avoiding writing a particularly difficult scene, and never on TV. She enjoys writing traditional and non-traditional couplings, scenarios, and settings. Love is almost always the reason for a story, but the surrounding details and events fascinate her. Figuring out the talking voices in her head (and sharing them with others) is one of her greatest pleasures. Finding a fabulous, inexpensive bottle of red wine is also one of her greatest pleasures. Kat shares her home in Colorado with one insane, overweight cat, her husband and child, and one hamster that keeps her up all hours of the night.
There is something so special and endearing about the love that is unfurled on these pages. Watching Noah, Olivia, and Jay find their way in their unconventional love story was amazing. I could not put it down!
Olivia loves everything about being a lawyer. Most of all because it brings her into close contact with her best friend and secret crush, Jonathan. But Jonathan is already married to Noah and has been in a committed relationship with him for years. She lives for the moments when they tease each other mercilessly or exchange flirty banter back and forth – because she knows that’s all it will ever be.
Until one night, when they are out celebrating her new job and their innocent touches turn into the one thing she never dared to hope for.
Jonathan and Noah have long wanted to bring Liv into their lives – and into their bed. How will they ever be able to convince her to put her heart on the line and become something so much more?
Kat Watson has created something uniquely special with this book. It’s a truly emotional and loving journey of three people who are determined to let their own brand of love win in spite of any social stigma or family and professional pressures. That’s not to say that the love scenes weren’t hot (because they were absolutely searing!) but that’s not what drives the story. It’s the characters and their deep affection for each other that make this a terrifically liberating read…
True to form, Kat Watson did not disappoint and I was in love with the characters just a few pages in. It has been a while since I've found a book that has captivated me and had me looking for a few spare moments to read, but I was with Something More. I finished it quickly and now am left wanting even more.
These characters are honest, flawed, beautiful, and realistic. So many times I found myself thinking, "Yep, that would be me," as Liv overthought something. There is no glossing over the barriers a triad faces and Ms. Watson faces those barriers and stigmas and puts them in the center of her story. Life isn't perfect and not every situation works out perfectly, but she shows that love is always worth it.
