Turner and Hicks argue for allowing students to read digitally in order to solve the problem of adolescent literacy. The argument to guide students to finding items they want to read and connect with is a strong one. I can see my low level students being able to find items they want to read and be able to improve.

Lots of great ideas for me to bring into my preservice courses. Good to have lesson plans and resources. Unfortunately, some of the touted resources, like Shelfari, no longer exist. So it goes with a book on technology.

I would give this 3 and 1/2 stars. It definitely gives me some new thinking about what it means to be a connected reader in our digital world and what I could do better for all of my students. It would be a great book to discuss with my technology integrator at school since I would love to implement some of the ideas. (less)

Some useful ideas in here, but it could have been cut down to half its lengthy without sacrificing anything.
