I really liked the story. It covered many emotions and situations. The heroine was smart, reasonable and still made mistakes. The hero had to change from a single life to having a family and the feelings and responsibilities that come with it.
There was some repetition that slowed down the flow of the story. The POV is from the hero and heroine but sometimes slips into descriptions that sound like a narrator. The intimacy is always instigated by the hero--it would have been nice if the heroine took more action. The ending was happy, although a little far-fetched for a warrior prince.
The storyline was interesting. World building was good. Good book for adult science fiction romance fans. Chose 4 stars because the story had some slow spots and repatriation of thoughts were you going 'get over it already.' But overall a good read.
I really wanted to like this but by the time I got to the end it was just too disappointing. Kael was an overbearing a**ho*e for pretty much the whole book. He's got no real emotions in my opinion. I think the author made him too hard. I've read characters that are like him but at least they are emotional at some point and have a darn personality and there are connections between said character and others especially a wife or woman. Didnt feel it with this guy. He never really got to know her or talked to her but had plenty of sex with her and pretty much made her a breeder. Danielle was a door mat. Submissive and sorta just accepted things and was never assertive. Seemed unsure of herself a lot and afraid of him mostly and a lot of things going on. I think the world building was ok but we didnt get much of an idea of these people though. Not very good development with this alien race. The book took me awhile to get into it. There were a lot of times it moved too slow. The end was just unfulfilled. Like he did a 180 but its just not believable. Sorry but just didnt like how it was put together. Not a very good effort.
I enjoyed the book. I gave it 4 stars. The cover of the book did not match the character in the book.... He was Huge like the guy on the book cover, but he had milk white skin and black hair that flowed Down his back to his waist.....he wore a skin tight black armor suit....not jeans and a hoodie. Please match characters on book covers to match the book. Do they think we are dumb.......enjoy
I was so deeply into the plot of the story from the first page to the last. I thought the Prince was arrogant and hunky, he was so hard core but really loosened up to be what Danielle needed after loosing her loved ones and Earth. I like Ashley's writing style and would read more of her books.
I only gave this book 4 stars because there were some spelling mistakes, it could have been more descriptive of every scene and background, and the fact that the book was a little short. If it weren't for those three things, I would have given it 5 stars happily. The female character was very likable: she was brave, strong, and caring. The male character made me a little angry at first, with his "I am above everyone and you will give me due respect" attitude. However after the initial bad impression, I was able to see his good attributes: he was honorable, caring, and brave. The characters, in other words, were well thought out, well developed. The backstory of the female character was touching, but also revealing in the way of her character development.
Hero was an ass but he got better. Heroine was pretty solid. Plot and world building good.
Writing needed a little work. I am not a huge fan of alternate first person point of view writing but I am not marking down for that. It's the slipping out of first person to narrator and the repetitive descriptions. As others have mentioned "the young woman" was seriously OVERUSED.
I'm not sure what I was expecting after reading the other reviews, but I was intrigued through the whole book and had a great sense of finality at the end that left me smiling. I would recommend this book and read others of Ashley's.
I honestly wasn't sure what to do with this book. There were some real highs, in the storyline and wording, but some real lows, in the characterization and how much of an a-hole the hero was. OVerall it was pretty good, but could have used some better creation of connection with the hero/ine.
