All of the action, adventure and romance of The Liberty Series in a first-ever bundle! An Adventure that Spans the Globe... A Love that Lasts a Lifetime. My name is Liberty and I'm a good girl. I come from nothing. I have no one but myself. Sometimes I do things I don't want to -- I do them because I have to. Stripping. That's my life in Vegas. And my boss keeps pressuring me to do more than just take my clothes off... Then John Carter Quinn crashes into my life. He's an older, gorgeous billionaire in a thousand dollar suit. He keeps coming to see me, night after night. I'm not sure what he wants -- but one night at my club he takes down a bad guy, and I find out what type of business he's actually in. Hint: he doesn't sit at a desk, he employs a bunch of ex-military operatives, and it's lethal to be on his bad side. Like me, John has his share of secrets. Dark secrets, dark pain. One of his secrets involves my past. These secrets will bring us together... and then tear us apart.
USA Today and Amazon Top-10 Bestselling Author Leigh James is currently sitting on a white-sand beach, watching the sunset, dreaming up her next billionaire. Get ready, he's going to be a HOT one!
Just kidding! Leigh is actually freezing her butt off in Maine, USA, where she lives with her awesome husband, their great kids, and her BFF Choco the chocolate lab. But she promises that billionaire is REALLY going to be something!
Her books have been translated into German, French, Italian, and Portuguese. Leigh also writes Young Adult Paranormal Romance as Leigh Walker. Her smash-hit series Vampire Royals was previously optioned by Netflix.
It was okay... The plot was a bit far-fetched even for this genre and the main character was, quite frankly, just kind of dumb. There was a fair amount of eye-rolling on my part while reading, but I kept going mostly because I can't not finish something.
This book had some promise, unfortunately it seemed to underwhelm me. It’s a sad day when the novella at the end of the series is actually the best book of the series.
All of these books had the same flaws. These books all started off with the same layout (I love the idea of having a bit of a flash forward at the end to get you sucked in but not four books in a row), there is a lot of repetition with wording choice, the characters and dialogue is bland and predictable, many of the scenes are eye-roll worthy and unrealistic, and the climax falls short more often than not.
Overall it was a quick read, but not one that I would recommend or reread.
I enjoyed the series. You can't tell there is a big age gap, his daughter was more immature than Liberty. There was too much he said, I said, they said, I thought etc.. but overall it was a good series. A little of everything.
An interesting story that was built on a premise that seemed to hold up most of the time but wandered about a bit now and then. Liberty appeared to be naive and dumb as a rock at times but mostly due to her lack of life experience, her unwillingness to allow herself to be dragged into the darker side of Vegas show life, and her sense of self that kept her unavailable to random sexual encounters simply to pad her income. Yet when she met John Quinn there was an instant connection. This is their story, and while it has the sense of going all over the place, it really does come together eventually. There were times I wanted to smack her up side her head, as my grandmother would say, as she tried to process her feelings and not in a good or productive way. She got herself and the people she loved into a good bit of "hot water" and mostly because she really was an impulsive sort of woman. Mostly due, I think, to the lack of control she had during her growing up years with a junkie mother who kept her tied to caring for her, and by a sister who left her to clean up their mother's messes. Now she has the freedom to make choices and a good many of those choices ended up being ill advised. Yet in the end, she grew and matured and this series chronicles that growth and maturation process along with her unwavering loyalty to John, his dad, and to the forces that drove them. Perhaps that is the important part that comes through this series. All in all, I had a good time reading this series and feel it was time well spent.
The Liberty box set is an absolutely action packed read from start to finish. It is most definitely a page turner where each page and chapter is packed with amazing action and beautifully written words to form an amazing love story. Liberty meets John and the rest of his team as they go in on an undercover job that ends with Liberty falling hopelessly in love. John and his team deal with the bad guys one at a time and Liberty learns how to embrace his lifestyle even eventually coming to love what they do! This is a great well written read and I will definitely be seeking out more of your books Leigh!
I would say this was more of an action series then a romance. Yes there was love at first sight, but it was more about the trouble they get into and how they need to get out of it. I also had a hard time about the age difference. She was younger than his daughter....yuck! They kept referencing the age difference, which didn't help. She acted to immature. I can't believe that wouldn't have been a turn off for John. My guess...she had daddy issues and he had daughter issues, too weird.
So I started off the first couple chapters intrigued but that didn't last long. The writing just went from good to amateurish so quickly. The heroine (Liberty) end up going with this guy. .... John. But she knows nothing about him and is already thinking about giving him her virginity. And thinking about how he will be looking after her financially etc. But she doesn't know this guy! ! So I just gave up.
I liked the first book, even though I never really felt an emotional connection between the characters. The second book fell into the trap of telling me instead of showing me. The number of times they professed their love got to the point of where I was just skipping parts. In the end, I just decided not to finish.
I wanna punch the female lead in the throat... She is immature, stupid and just plain annoying. She thinks after 6 weeks of physical training she can take off and find someone who a crack team lead by an military vet has been unable to locate in 6 six years! She has no actual skills or experience, but refuses to listen to those who do.
This was a fun read. I don't normally gravitate to action romance type of stories but this was fun. I had hoped for a baby towards the end but maybe it's still in the works? Great supporting cast of characters. Decent plot, sometimes unrealistic. I mean not too many alpha males who can't handle their woman.
What an awesome read! I couldn't put it down... I felt like I was in each story... This was the first time I'd read this author and I guarantee that it won't be my last!! Pick yours up today...
Overall I quite enjoyed this book. There were some good stories that draws you in. The main character, Liberty, started to annoy me though. She's young, innocent and a complete spoiled brat. She keeps whining and is manipulative to say the least.
What fun to drive into....like potato chips can help but go back for another little bite.. A little romance, a lot action and suspense, so touch of humor, what more can you want for an after dinner read ... would love to have more of these adventures to enjoy.....
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this series. It was much better that what I though it was going to be when I purchased it. It kept me interested and it was exciting.
It started out slow, but I couldn't seem to put it down. So glad I kept read! I loved the series! Hoping for a book on Catherine & other characters in the book!
Thought this would make a good beach read but it was totally vapid. In the third book, I swear there was a grammatical error or typo on nearly every page. Good thing it was free.
Liberty doesn't change, and that's a good thing. Her character makes these books. In the bonus it was great getting to know some of the other characters. Love Matthew.
