People are getting married later and later in life. The average age of first marriage is 27 for women and 29 for men, and it’s estimated that 25% of Millennials will never get married at all.
When you find yourself “stuck” in singleness, waiting to move on to the next phase of life, it can feel incredibly frustrating. It’s often hard, feeling like you have no sexual outlet, and feeling trapped in your singleness. And many people believe they have no recourse other than turning to porn.
In More Than Single: Finding Purpose Beyond Porn, we help singles discover freedom from porn and joy in their circumstances. This book covers:
☻ What all singles need know about the harms of porn ☻ The practical steps one must take to break free ☻ How faith in the Gospel overcomes a desire for pornography ☻ How to handle feelings of loneliness and bitterness ☻ Why the consumption and creation of art is important for finding joy
Professionally, I have written or edited a number of ebooks for Covenant Eyes on the topic of pornography use and recovery, including "More Than Single: Finding Purpose Beyond Porn," "Hobbies and Habits: Fighting Porn With Purpose," and "New Fruit: A Woman's Guide to Porn Recovery."
I also publish a poem each week on my personal blog at http://wasabijane.com/. I have published a number of short stories on my blog as well.
Solid read. I appreciate that someone has addressed the topic of singleness and pornography and took the courage to explore the correlation between these. I also appreciated the chapter on creativity and how it is important to engage in creative outlets when recovering from porn use, but also in general, how we all need it in our lives. The book is written from the Covenanat Eyes team member, so there is the part of promoting their filtering software and the concept of accountability mentioned throughout the book. Also, some sections might feel like they are oversymplifying the concepts they talk about. Overall, a solid read.
