One Night with the Tycoon

Rate this book
Meet the Kellys of Whiskey River, Texas, men who have always gone through life, and women, with their father’s legendary charm.

Wyatt Kelly, CEO of Kelly Boots, is rumored to do everything with his cowboy boots on, including seducing women into memorable one-night stands. Growing up the second eldest son of a philandering charmer, Wyatt’s seen first hand how messy relationships can get when the heart’s involved, and he’s determined to leave no scars. No woman’s tempted Wyatt to break his vow until he meets Juliette Rossi.

Juliette is all about business. She’s focused on turning the lavender farm she and her cousin inherited into a successful, world-wide company. Her meticulous plans are on the right track until she accepts a dare to spend the night with Wyatt after the annual Boots & Bangles Gala. Juliette’s fantasized about Wyatt for years... One night will get him out of her system for good, right?

Wrong.

Can she convince Wyatt that he’s more than his Kelly heritage? Will Wyatt agree that one night just isn't enough?

What a child saw and experienced from a crotchety, headstrong, manipulative father left a brand on this son... Wyatt has been making sure he stays clear of his father's legacy; breaking women's hearts. This is the story of Wyatt Kelly and Juliette Rossi.

Wyatt has learned "one time only" with a woman will ensure his never being anything like his old man. He clearly lays out the ground rules...and lives by them...

Until he is finally unable to fight his desire for Juliette. They are at the charity ball he and his brothers do every year. A band is playing and before he knows it, Juliette is in his arms...moving her soft, sweet body next to his...swaying with the music...her lips so close...

It took only one kiss and then these two had to experience being together...She had had desires for him for a very long time... he ... drawn to her, as well. Promises in their individual minds... experiencing this ... being together will work... one time will be enough...

Well, maybe not.

This was a sweet addition to the Whiskey series and both characters were destined to come together in the way that they did.
There are more brothers... so we know more love stories will be coming.

3 - "Is it true... Do you do everything with your boots on?" Stars.

Book three in the Whiskey River although entertaining enough, doesn't really offer much in the way of surprises. Wyatt Kelly is your standard one and done, commitment-phobe, and Juliette Rossi is the woman hoping that she can change him. As you would guess, all does not go according to plan, and what ensues is a month or two's worth of 'cat & mouse' between them.

Both have deeper feelings for the other, but it all hangs on whether Wyatt can step out from his deceased fathers shadow, and disprove the old adage of the 'apple never falling far from the tree'.

"I just don't do relationships. You're the first woman I've wanted to make things work with and frankly, I have no idea if I can."

If you have an hour or two that you are looking for something, light, easy-going and relatively stress free to read then this would certainly be a book I would recommend, but having read the previous book in the series, this installment seemed to be a little lacking in the depth and emotional development of its predecessors.

Nicolas and Xander Blue, are still to come, and I am looking forward to seeing what stories the authors of this series give them.

Book three in the Whiskey River series was a quick read. Picking up at the Boots and Bangles Ball where One Night with the Cowboy more or less left off, we see Juliette and Wyatt's relationship begin.

"I'm a Kelly and we aren't long term men."

As the title suggests Wyatt is a one-night only kinda guy and Juliette goes into it with no illusions thanks to his reputation. But after a night burning the bedsheets, a few feelings are thrown into the mix and I very much liked Juliette's confidence in going for what she wants.

"Life was about more than sex. Even awesome sex with Wyatt Kelly."

Whilst the 90 minutes I spent reading One Night with the Tycoon was entertaining enough, I don't think it will blow anyone away. Wyatt and Juliette had chemistry, but based on the previous books in this series I was hoping for more. And with a fairly basic storyline and a number of time-hops to prolong the build-up, I just never really became that invested in their journey. But if your looking for a light, short sexy romance, this is that and I shall be reading Nicholas and Xander's stories.

One Night with the Tycoon was a good read.

This book had the perfect amount of drama and it wasn't overly done. It was just enough to keep you interested in both main characters. I cant wait to read the next book in the series. I'm enjoying seeing all the brothers find their perfect partners =)

Thank you Netgalley and Tule Publishing for the advance copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Lately I’ve been rereading all of the Texas Born novels from Tule publishing. And while I enjoyed reacquainting myself with the Kelley family, I remember the reason why I only rated this three stars. That said, there is a lot of editing issues in this book; there were many missing letters and words throughout. And I did have a difficult time feeling the connection between Wyatt and Juliette. Still I had fun re-visiting Whiskey River and it’s quaint, loyal Texas community.

Good but hard to read because of typos

This book was so difficult to read on kindle because there were so many typos it was driving me nuts. But I eventually started to get to a point where I could read and fix the typos without too much effort. After that it was a pretty good book.

Wyatt is the other brother who knew their father. He is sure he has the business ability but since afraid cannot commit sticks to one night stands but has trouble not going back to Jasmine. She owns a lavender store and field ith her cousin who is now attached to Trey (see book 2); she feels that while she is good with business not so sure about people.

This is the story about Wyatt and Juliette. Wyatt is a one-night only. Can Juliette get him to change his mind or will they end up just being friends? I’ve enjoyed reading about the brothers and recommend these fast reads.

While the story was for the most part good, the ending felt a little like we skipped a couple chapters and went straight to the HEA. The book ends abruptly at about the 50% point on my kindle and includes a bonus story after that.

The Whiskey River series has been such fun to follow, and we aren’t done yet by any means. Watching the unexpected brothers become family as each story moves along has been part of the charm of this series for me. We don’t get to choose our family usually – but these fine men are making that choice to bond in spite of their reservations about the situation.

Wyatt Kelly is convinced he is the carbon copy of his father – and there is no way he is going to settle down with one woman because he believes he is incapable of being faithful to her. So Wyatt has gone through his adult life as a one night wonder. The ladies know the rules and he is content with his lifestyle. Until one woman matters, then he needs to do some deep thinking about his life.

Juliette has been attracted to Wyatt for years. Even going away to Paris for a time hasn’t dulled the spark she feels around this man. Oh, she knows his reputation of one night stands and tonight at the annual Boots & Bangles Gala she’s going to make her move. Yes, it’s a gamble but she simply has to know if what she’s felt all these years is real – and if she can change a cowboy’s single minded ways.

One Night with the Tycoon was such a delightful story. Juliette and Wyatt were perfect together, each strong in their own rights but even stronger together. It will take each a bit of time and soul searching before they find their happy ever after, but the journey there is an enjoyable ride. This is a quick read, fast paced and well worth the time spent with these handsome men and their lovely ladies.

Looking for a happy ending and sinfully sexy characters? Then I’d highly recommend One Night with the Tycoon – and you will find the answer to the question… does this cowboy ever take his boots off? *grin*

One Night with the Tycoon by Katherine Garbera is the third release in the Whiskey River series and turns its attention on Wyatt Kelly and Juliette Rossi, younger brother to Trey Kelly and cousin to Ariana Wright, lead characters from the second installment, respectively. Neither Wyatt nor Juliette have had much time for romantic commitments, focusing mostly on becoming successful in their respective fields. Wyatt has had a reputation as only being with women for a night and never having anything to do with them afterward. Juliette initially thinks that all she wants with him is a singular night, but then she quickly realizes that she wants more. Typically, she believes she's the one woman who can break Wyatt of his one-night-only habit, but Wyatt has that stipulation in place for a reason.

I'm sincerely hoping that the review copy I received from NetGalley was exactly that--a review copy. There were a lot of errors that obviously still needed to go through an editor's fine-toothed comb, and I'm not just talking grammar and sentence construction here. There were times that the text felt jumbled, leaving me a tad confused. I also felt something of a disconnect with the lead characters, though they certainly did have their moments. I guess I was looking for more of that chemistry that I want to get from the people whose stories I read about, making me want to become invested in their romance. I felt sorry at times for Juliette for obviously pushing for that something more that Wyatt simply wasn't willing to give her. This was an okay read but I;ll certainly read the rest of the series. One Night with the Tycoon gets three stars. ♥

As mentioned in my reviews of this ‘Whiskey River Series’, the Boots and the Blues are sure having their lives upside down with the discovery of a new family and the punches the women in their lives sure hit the heart, straight and hard.

Wyatt Kelly may have all the money under the sky, but when it comes to women, he is a one night kind of a guy and when the stirrings of love and attraction seep into his heart, he is as scared as his brothers (and even more so), who finally found love.

But Juliette Rossi sends all his vows and determination exactly in the opposite direction – in the direction of actually wanting to make Juliette his very own. Juliette wants nothing more than making the lavender business into the next big thing with her cousin, and Wyatt is just a small speed bump in her life. One night between the sheets sets fire to their attraction and their hearts blazing. But there are insecurities to be atoned, egos to be stoked and fears to overcome.

And this love story definitely goes on a sweet and salty path as Wyatt and Juliette find their homecoming. It really is fascinating to read stories of the same series but written by different authors, yet maintaining the authenticity of the basic foundation, linking characters among their individual stories and keeping the readers captivated.

“One Night With The Tycoon” book three in the series is penned by Katherine Garbera and what a fine job she does with Wyatt and Juliette. Arrogance, protectiveness and ego Wyatt spars with sassy, sexy and down to earth Juliette. With family support at its teasing best, with brothers coming together in support and understanding, this is one of those sweet stories that leave us wanting more.

One Night With the Tycoon was an enjoyable, hopeful, fast read.

The main characters are drawn to each other, even if neither of them has expectations beyond one night. I liked that they were honest with each other, even after their one night together, when neither of them is sure anymore if that night could ever be enough. But they both have issues that prevent them from believing more is possible. Juliette is confident on the outside, but inside she's more insecure than most people know. Wyatt is convinced he's more like his father than any of his brothers, and he'll never settle with one woman. I was interested to see if they'd be able to work through this in the span of this novella...they both want so much more but are reluctant to admit to it. There's some push and pull between them, tension, and some great chemistry that could supersede all of that if they let it. I liked the dual POV that Katherine uses in One Night With the Tycoon...I love it when I know things other characters don't yet!

I really liked the secondary characters and that the relationship between the brothers is still a prominent sub plot that carries through this series. Watching them get to know each other and what each is going through is so intriguing! I also like that another sub plot runs smoothly through this book from One Night With The Cowboy, and that it is all very clear.

One Night With the Tycoon is a well paced, small town romance with a lot going on that Katherine manages to pull together smoothly in this novella. I'd recommend One Night With the Tycoon to any romance reader looking for a quick escape!

There was more to this story than the blurb allude, and much more to the characters than player and a cold business woman, as they see themselves at first. In fact, the characters are rather complex, and have some concern they have to face within, until they are ready for a relationship.
They are both stubborn, business minded, and determined to keep living as they have. Wyatt is struggling with his father's death, the new brothers that came their life unannounced, and his fear of being the same kind of man, unable to commit, as his father was. Wyatt doesn't do relationships, he never has, and he is not about to change that, no matter how much Juliette entices him.
Juliette came back from France a bit broken, her plans with her career, that she had invested everything in, didn't work out, her reputation as a cold business woman bothered her, and her attraction to Wyatt was taking her concentration.
The affair Wyatt and Juliette set out to have, is scorching hot. They have the chemistry, they connect, and walking away from it, is making both miserable.
But before they can build a true, lasting relationship, they have some work to do within, and it's not an easy road.
I have enjoyed this series, the contention and bonding of the new brothers, the passion and ardor the brothers set out to do everything in their lives, and the pure adoration they have for the women they fall for. Wyatt and Juliette had all that as well, as soon as they got through the angst and misgivings they had about what their future holds. It was a quick read, with a zeal, fervor, and joy

One Night with the Tycoon (Whiskey River Series Book 3) by Katherine Garbera is a terrific addition to the series. The story itself is well written though not very long, 10 chapters I believe is all but a lot is packed in those chapters. At the beginning this looks to be a flirty, easy read but is really is much more substantial. This is Wyatt Kelly’s story after his father’s bombshell of a will has been read.

Neither Wyatt nor Juliette believe that they have the time needed to invest in a full fledge relationship. However, as the story progresses it is shown that this is simply the excuse they give. They use work to compensate for the major changes in their lives. Honestly, it is rather sad at times to see them longing for real love but being fearful of taking the risk.

Juliette is a character that speaks for all of us. She needs to be loved for herself. To quote Victor Hugo from Les Miserables, “Life’s greatest happiness is to be convinced that we are loved.” I will admit I kept reading to see if Wyatt is the man up to this challenge. There is a lot going on in his life too but it is Juliette that I identify with the most.

Whereas the focus is on Wyatt Kelly, all three brothers, Trey, Nicholas and Xander make appearances. The first book in the series gives the terms of Boots Kelly’s will. However, all four of the brother are good men so not much of the focus is on the drama of having to all live on the ranch for a year. That has been fine with me. I really like these stories just the way that they are.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a copy.

Juliette is so focused on building her business with her cousin she makes little time for anything else. She is a home town type of girl not really into big gala's or events. She goes to one knowing it will help the Lavender Dream become something big or at least she hopes. Only problem is she takes a dare and she never thought it would turn out the way it did, not she doesn't know whats up and whats right all she knows is she wants the one thing she's never had and that is to fit.
Wyatt is on a role he is the CEO of his fathers company and he is a one night kind of guy. He knows that love just will not fit into his perfect constructed life. Problem with that is he never thought a dare would have him rethinking his plans for his life and fighting the one person he has been happy with his whole life, himself.

Who does not love a good cowboy book. I really liked this book it comes on strong and stays that way through whole book. No holds bar, the author has you wanting more with every turn of the page and all the while really enjoying all the fun and quirkiness of the characters in the book. The chemistry is off the charts and if leaves you wanting more. This book is short and sweet and to the point pack with a lot of fun and will not wonder about what happened at the end of the book. This book is so worth the read.

Swiftly falling in Love

A very quick read. She was so unsure of what she really wants in life, but does know she wants what her cousin has found. I understood her uncertainty as well as his doubts about himself. I didn't like the way they jumped into bed together and the way they had Sex in the barn. I wanted to feel like they were taking time to get to know each other. I still like all the brothers!!

I don't know how to write this review. This is in no way a bad book, don't take the 3 stars rating for a "why did I waste my time" because that's not it. The story was nice, but not great. The characters were endearing but not falling-in-love worthy - for me anyway. When I thought about this book afterwards, I realized that the characters were nice, but a little flat, superficial, despite the backstory giving and the baggages they obviously have. I read the first Whiskey River book, Where There's a Will and I liked it. I was looking forward to the next ones. I didn't read the second book of the series and maybe that's the reason I felt the MC lacked something. I know it had an impact on my understanding of the story, at least.

The really good point, for me, is that the MC know each others before the story begins and the story happens on a few months. This makes the love story and the hurdles - and the way they get over them - all the more believable.

It was a nice story and I recommand it to those who read the first two books of the series. As for the series, it's a nice story.

Can two very headstrong independent individuals find a way to admit their feelings for each other and find a happy medium and their happily ever after?

Wyatt Kelly is the CEO of his own boot company and the second son of a man who loved the ladies. Having seen how things seemed to always end for his father’s relationships, he decides early on that the he will have no relationship with a woman last longer than one date.

Juliette Rossi is all about turning around and expanding the lavender farm and business she runs with her cousin. She had gone to France to make her mark but ends up being burned before coming home.

This is book three of a four part series written by four different authors. All stand alone but the characters are blended into each story making for a very pleasant read since you become familiar with them all as you read the series. But do not be worried if you haven’t read any of the others yet. Just open up your book and dive into this one.

Full disclosure - I was provided with an advance reader copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review of this book.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley/Tule Publishing for an honest review. "One Night with the Tycoon" by Katherine Garbera is book three in the Whiskey River series. Wyatt Kelly has never been tempted to let his heart get involved in a relationship until he meets Juliette. Wyatt is afraid of becoming like his philandering dad so he keeps his relationships with women to a one-night stand. Juliette has fantasized about Wyatt for years. She decides that she is going to spend one night with Wyatt to get him out of her system. Well, you can guess how that worked. The chemistry between Wyatt and Juliette was great! I have really enjoyed this series so far. The books can be read as a standalone but if you read them all you will have a better understanding of all the characters. This is a great quick steamy read. There is just something about how the author pulls the reader in and you want to learn what happens to the other characters. I am enjoying the Whiskey River series and look forward to reading the next book. FYI, contains mature content.

One Night With The Tycoon brings the reader back to Whiskey River where the second of Boots Kelly's four sons is about to discover that he's no longer a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy. Wyatt Kelly is gorgeous, sexy and a powerful businessman. Like his father he loves women and they love him right back yet he's scared of getting involved in case he hurts a woman the way his father hurt his mother.
Juliette Rossi is back in Whiskey River developing her lavender business. She's confident about her business skills but when it comes to relationships she's nowhere near so self assured. Despite this, every time she bumps into Wyatt she feels a pull of attraction to him and when it seems he might be interested in her too, she decides to throw caution to the wind for a night of passion in his arms.
Neither Juliette nor Wyatt is prepared to admit to being interested in anything more than that one night but despite their best efforts they can't stop thinking about each other.
This is a light, fun read and while it's best read as part of the series, it stands up alone fairly well.

I enjoyed parts of this book. It was quite predictable, as most romantic books are. There were some parts that got a little too physical for me, and I didn't like those quite as much - I thought the book would have done just as well without them. Overall a decent summer read.

Juliette Rossi left Paris Perfumery to Texas. She brought her friends with her. She worked hard in Paris but her job didn't pay off after working so hard. So she comes back to Texas to start new shop with her cousin Ariana. Ariana just got back with Trey and they were invited to Kelly's Gala where she meets Wyatt. Wyatt is good looking guy and everyone believed he did everything with his boots on.
Juliette maybe thought being with Wyatt for one night will be enough but she was in for more. However, both were feeling similar way but he couldn't admit to that feeling.
It was short read but I felt Juliette was clinging to him too much. She keep saying maybe this will be last time i will try.. Maybe there were not enough story from Wyatt. Juliette definitely had more feelings to him than he had for him..
At the end finally, it was a happy ending. I hope there is a book about ariana and Trey.
It was quick summer read for me.

Thanks for Netgalley for early copy
