Chelsea and Chad are twin elementals; humans born with the power to control and shape the elements. They, and many other elementals, are forced to hide their powers as many non-elementals fear them, especially fire-starters like Chelsea.

The twins are only just learning true command of their powers, and what they can do. At university, Chelsea joins a fire-starter training course and trains hard to control the powerful flames that rage within her, often out of her control. She struggles to prove to herself that she can harness and control both her power and her mind.

Meanwhile, Chad is a water-bringer who is honing his rare and deadly ability, but has placed himself under the authority of dangerous people who aim to use his powers for their own sinister agenda.

When the two reunite, they are forced to choose sides.

As tidal waves of power demolish entire cities, and bring the storm clouds of destruction to the Houston skyline, a war is coming . . . And it's time to find out where allegiances lie.

Chelsea and Chad's decisions will forever change the world around them, so what will they choose?

To be quite frank, I did not love this book. While the story is an interesting idea, a world of 'elementals', people born with the power over water, air, earth, or fire, who live among non-elementals and have to learn to survive despite prejudice and lack of rights. I found the story to have underdeveloped setting and world construct. The main characters, Chelsea and Chad, appeared two dimensional. Truthfully, for younger people, this is a great book. For my age and with the amount I read, it was just not a good fit for me.

I really enjoyed reading this. I found it a fast read and easy to get through, though I'm still kind of confused about some of the world building elements. I can only assume all my questions will be answered in book two, which I eagerly await! I understand that this is a debut novel and in certain ways, I could tell in the writing that this was true, especially with how certain characters react or respond, as well as speech patterns. However, the only way to go is up and I know this story will continue to grow in interest and style. Very excited for more and very proud of this author for putting her work out in the world!!

Fire: The Elemental Series is a debut young adult novel by Belle Manuel. The story is based around two twin siblings Chad and Chelsea, who each have a unique ability to control one of the elements. Chad has power of the elemental water and is in control of his ability, but Chelsea whose element is fire is struggling to handle her powers. One night Chelsea has a nightmare that causes her to become upset and accidentally burn down the house that she shares with her father and twin brother. This sets Chad and Chelsea on separate paths. Chelsea goes to a college that teaches people with her unique abilities control and skill they need to survive a world that doesn't easily except their existence. Chad enlists in the special forces for people who have control over the element water.

Chelsea, our lead female character starts out weak but grows tremendously in this first book alone. I think the flaws she does possess and the mistake she makes along the way just makes you relate to her more and become more involved in her story. Chad on the other hand, I have yet to really find a redeeming quality about. My favorite character is Blaze, he is broken but has a good heart.

This story gets you involved as soon as you read the first chapter and keeps you wanting more. The plot is different than a lot of YA books out there and isn't necessarily concentrated on just the romantic parts of the story. There is mystery, loss, magic, fantasy and a war brewing all twirled into one great story line. If you are looking for a fresh new series to read, I would recommend this one.

I tried really hard to like this book, but I honestly didn't get past 20% finished.

I love the concept, but the characters just didn't feel believable to me. They felt flat, underdeveloped. Which was the same with the world and the story. There were also some issues with flow and pacing of the story, and in the end I was so lost I decided not to finish.

Thank you for the opportunity to sample your work and also thank you to Novel Reviewers for providing the copy free of charge in exchange for an honest review. I'm sorry it wasn't a good fit for me as a reader. Good luck to you!
