In Philippians 2:8 we are told to think on things that are right, pure, admirable, lovely, excellent and praiseworthy. When thinking back over all the uplifting stories that are in this book, that Bible verse comes to mind because books like this fill my thoughts with all the wonderful ways in which God is at work in our lives. Some of the stories reminded me of experiences I have had, and I found a new sense of gratitude from thinking of them again.

The author shares some personal stories and insight God has given her. She also includes stories from the Bible and other people. I can't say enough good things about books like this that are so beneficial to me. I recommend it highly to others who like me, may at times wonder how to think of lovely things in times like this.

Fix your eyes on Jesus. That’s the gist of Fresh Encounters with Jesus. “The Christian life is an ocean excursion where the waves are huge, the ride bumpy and uncertain or wild and difficult. Overwhelming. Fix your eyes on Jesus, and enjoy the ride.”

Many illustrations offer fresh views of long-familiar passages. I love the one on Mary Magdalene. And the one about the little boy with his loaves and fish.

“God is on the edge of His chair waiting to reveal Himself to you.”

“Just as the body needs nourishment with good food, spiritual life needs fuel.”

Fresh Encounters with Jesus will help you draw near.
