I have read a few marriage books and I can say that this was by far the best one I have ever read. This book offers such a gentle yet powerful perspective on how to be a better spouse. It speaks for both spouses and helps give tactical ways to implement changes for the better. It was a very easy read, stock piled with amazing information, and left me feeling convicted but so loved and excited. This book was so loving, gentle, and well written that you cannot put it down. Each story just brings you closer to God and allows you to see just how amazing marriage is and will continue to be.
Overall, this is a good book. Marriage is an image of God. Pastor Morris believes that husbands need honor and sexual intimacy while wives need affection and security. Two spirits unite in a marriage. Forgiveness, humility, kindness and prayer are key to a blessed marriage. This book is a bit rigid but helpful. "Above all else, submit to God" James 4:7 "Trust the Lord with all your heart" Proverbs 3:5
I thought this was an excellent marriage book. There was some very good, healthy discussion of topics that can usually be pretty controversial and have been taught inaccurately in a lot of places (submission, head of the household, etc.). The content is definitely aimed at married or engaged couples. The only thing I didn't like was the few places that centered discussion around the stereotypical "all men are wired one way and all women are wired another way" teaching that I have found to leave a lot of types of people out. But the truth, depth and wisdom in the book as a whole still gave me a lot to take away and apply.
This was a good book. It was very helpful to me and easy to relate to what they were saying. It helped me better understand how to be a good wife to my husband and showed me some things I need to work on.
