Sophie finds a four-leaf clover that isn’t exactly lucky in the seventh book of The Adventures of Sophie Mouse!
Sophie Mouse is painting in Clio’s Clover patch on a beautiful spring day when she spots something unusual. It’s a clover…but it has four leaves! Four-leaf clovers are supposed to bring good luck, right? Sophie waits and waits for this good luck, but it seems like just the opposite is happening. She spills paint all over herself, she doesn’t have any fun daydreams, and she forgets about an adventure she was supposed to go on with Hattie! Will Sophie ever be able to break this Clover Curse?
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Adventures of Sophie Mouse chapter books are perfect for beginning readers.
Poppy Green can talk to animals! Unfortunately, they never talk back to her. So she started writing in order to imagine what they might say and do when humans aren’t watching. Poppy lives on the edge of the woods in Connecticut, where her backyard is often a playground for all kinds of wildlife: birds, rabbits, squirrels, voles, skunks, deer, and the occasional wild turkey.
3.5 stars! Not my favorite of the series but good. Sophie finds a 4 leaf clover then starts having bad luck. We learn about legends and she has the legend of the clover curse. If you pick a 4 leaf clover it means bad luck and it seems like its happened to her. Are legends true or not? Cute enough!
I ended up reading this in one sitting to my 6-year-olds today. The kids enjoy these books more than I do, but I did notice that the sentence structure in this book was nicely varied. It makes it more aurally Interesting. I also saw why these would make good chapter books for emerging readers. The font size is quite large, so even for pages of all text, they aren’t really all that long. There are also illustrations liberally used throughout the hook, breaking up the text and letting the young reader feel a good sense of progression and accomplishment with each rather frequent page turn.
Not my favorite of the Sophie Mouse books due to the focus of the plot. It focuses on legends and curses— a good place to start a discussion with my 5 yo about curses and bad luck. I’m glad we read this together. This is still an excellent series for emerging readers, and we enjoy reading them aloud together.
Not my favorite Sophie Mouse book but still a nice gentle story (nothing scary or heavy in topic). It has enough intrigue to capture a young child’s attention and is fun to read around St. Patrick’s Day. Good early chapter book series for emerging readers.
My 4 year old daughter loves Sophie Mouse. I like that every page has a picture. I also love Sophie Mouse, but didn't like this story as much as the previous books.
When Sophie Mouse picks a four leaf quarter, she thinks she will have good luck. Instead, bad things start happening to her. Okay plot, nice characters.
