The Kicks #6

Settle the Score

Rate this book
From soccer star, Olympic gold medalist, and bestselling author Alex Morgan comes the sixth book in an empowering and fun-filled middle grade series about believing in yourself and working as a team.

Devin is finally catching her stride with the winter soccer league, and as the championships approach, Devin and Jessi’s team has a real shot at coming out on top! Only, Zoe’s team does too, and suddenly things get awkward between the Kicks. Devin tries to keep her head, but she’s torn—she wants her friend to be happy, but she wants to win, too! And Zoe’s too busy strategizing with her new teammates to make time for the Kicks. As the finals get closer, tensions rise until even Frida and Emma don’t know who to root for. Maybe this time the Kicks can’t stand up under the weight of competition.

This book is about a girl named Devin and her friend Jessi. They are on the same winter soccer league team, the griffons. On the gators team is their good friend, Zoe. It is really hard for them because they don't want to go against each other at the league championships. They have so much practice to do if they want to win. Zoe and some of her teammates at school start to strategize, and she doesn't hang out very much with her friends. Devin and Jessi start to think she doesn't hang out with them very much because it is awkward. Both teams want to win very badly. When it is time for the championship Devin is worried about playing Zoe, because they both want to win and she would feel bad for Zoe if she lost. At the end of the game the Griffions won! Even though Zoe and her team lost they thought they did pretty good, and were happy with the way they played. Devin, Jessi, and Zoe all started to talk to each other and were together again. If you like action, drama, friendship, and soccer you will love this book. I thought this book was enjoyable because I play soccer too.
