Four Stories of Slaves and Servitude
Love Unleashed is a good collection of four stories featuring a theme of slaves and servitude. I really enjoyed the medieval setting. I liked some of the "creative" punishments used for the slaves while I thought they were barbaric at the same time. (I think that's the point of this slave fiction? Barbarian violence against the unwitting? I kinda got that vibe on all of these.) The characters overlap from one story to the next though they are not in chronological order which makes each story a revelation.
I enjoyed seeing the way Kei looked at his life as a slave. He knew no other way to live after his family was killed, his home destroyed, and it seemed to him he should find pride in being a slave since if that was what he was to be, what did it benefit him to be miserable? His sense of purpose was nice. I liked his soft nature, kindness, and genuine joy in his master Cydale.
Brendan was the most tolerable of the Masters for me. I liked how he randomly bought the slave Lorne. It was totally a whim for him. He was a fair guy who wasn't really thinking of hurting anyone else. All he wanted was to get home to his family to buy back his family farm and rescue his sister from servitude. He was an overall good guy. I was pleased with his story in a way I couldn't quite say I was with the others.
Wade was harder for me to read about. I felt his pain more keenly. I wanted him to be free. I hated the injustices done to him. I was glad he had a friend in Kei, glad he helped Cydale, glad he even found some pleasure with Aiden who I really did not like at all. I just wanted him to be free. I found the ending of his story irksome since I just really wanted him to be free. I get what the author was going for with his story. I just didn't buy into it fully myself.
Aiden comes out as the bad guy more often than not. I wanted to like him. I just couldn't. He's spoiled, cruel, and irritating more than anything else. I was glad he didn't get Cydale. I was honestly more annoyed with him than anything else throughout the whole of all the stories he was a feature in. The guy just wasn't my kind of animal. I think other people who enjoy wicked men? They'd like him. He's got a very wicked vibe to him which will appeal to others more than it did to me.
On the whole, the stories in Love Unleashed were good reading. They were a nice break from modern contemporary. I wished there'd been a little more love in the stories, but I get love wasn't the motivation for these tales. I'd recommend this collection for anyone who likes barbarian warriors, medieval stories, slave fiction, or sexy shorts since these definitely pack a hot shot in a short space. This collection of four short stories deal with the same theme: total domination and submission, with trigger warnings of dub-con and non-con, so caveat, MM readers, consider yourselves informed. The first story is about a mercenary, Brendan, who impulsively buys a gorgeous slave and takes him to his homeland, where he is to redeem his sister from her indentured service. The story develops quickly, with Loren and Brendan bonding insta-love style, with some fight action scenes in between some intimate moments. Brendan and Loren are both pretty likable, with Loren being a veritable snarky temptation to Brendan's libido, although the bad guys are practically cardboard cut-outs just to move the story along. Their love story comes off as sweet, despite their circumstances. The second and third stories are somewhat related, as the third story is somewhat a prequel of the second. The second story, Pillaged, is definitely very intense in the sex category of non-con. Wade is a young hunter, who is taken by a band of marauders, while rescuing his sister, and is constantly tortured and abused by Master Aiden, the leader of the raiders. While in captivity; his bravery and defiance attract Master Aiden's attention, and they develop a twisted love/hate relationship. We also meet Master Cydale, who is Master Aiden's best friend, and his slave and lover, the beautiful Kei, who helps Wade survive through the torture. This story is the best one of the four, in my opinion, as it is very passionate and emotional. The third story is a prequel of the second, as it relates how Cydale and Aiden knew each other as young men and how Kei appears in their lives, and comes in between them. It is a good story, although I found it confusing that Kei remains a slave under Cydale despite their obvious feelings of love for each other in the second story, instead of holding a place of honor next to Cydale. Marked is the last story, and is the least satisfying of the four, because it seems a rehash of the same theme in Pillaged. Taiver volunteers to serve as a sex slave to Lord Aric, in order to save his sister from that fate, and is tortured by his master for his obstinance, but after some time spend together, Wade falls in love with his master. The collection overall is exciting, although not necessarily memorable. I enjoyed reading the stories, as they served their purpose of titillating the reader with dominating men forcing pretty men to submit and ultimately yearn for their masters.

I completely recommend this book. It's SO good to have the four stories together in one book. It's a really great read, with self sacrifice, love, redemption & the strive for happiness woven throughout.
'Seized By A Mercenary' begins the collection & is a lovely story about a first time master & a first time slave. Watching their relationship grow & develop was very interesting, to say the least!
'Pillaged' is the second story, it's about a young man who endures such a lot, in the beginning, as a newly caught slave; the story evolves well & is a compelling read.
The third story is 'Ravaged'& is a bit like a prequel to 'Pillaged' as it shows the early lives of some of the same characters. The story really held my attention & was as equally beautiful as it was sad, in parts, (not to mention fascinating).
'Marked' is the final story in the collection & begins with a young man who saves his family member by, willingly, becoming a slave, (in their place), to a nobleman, which, in time, takes him on quite an adventure. I enjoyed reading it as much as the three stories before it; it has a lovely flow & like the previous stories, the characters are very well written & believable.
I really like this collection of stories; Kayci Morgan is a new-ish author to me & I couldn't be happier to have found her books.

Morgan's world of Mm love and servitude is lush, dark and sensual. So much so it is nearly impossible to put down. The characters and their struggles to come to terms with their inner drives and their loves are gorgeously told, at once steamy and romantic, rough and tender. As each hero falls under the spell of the man who stole him, enslaved him, we fall in love with him.
Loosely tied together (pun fully intended) by the same group of young men in a fantasy feudal world divided into the brutal, violent North, desert South and pastoral East where love and sexuality are freer and explored. Morgan drags us, happily through emotional and exciting scene and story.
Beautifully done and an author I can't wait to follow!

This is the first time I have read a book by this author and was very pleasantly surprised at how well the book was written. I found this book to be fascinating and intriguing to read and I really enjoyed reading it, I am definitely looking forward to more books from this author. There are four stories in this book and what you will find in this book is: drama, suspense, fear, slavery, abduction, punishment, forced/non consensual sex, beatings, lust, needs & desires, love and graphic erotic scenes. The story-line and plots are well thought out and written, the pace is steady and not rushed. The characters have various emotions according to the situation they find themselves in. I would recommend this book to people who like to read a M/M romance. I would recommend this book to people who like to like this kind of book.

This was a great interwoven set of tales with light to heavy BDSM themes.
The characters were well developed and easy to relate despite the short story aspect of each chapter. I really found the switching of points-of-view of the chapters between a sub character or dom character to be particularly well done and thought the "journey" to acceptance was handled much better than of books I've read in the genre. "Pillaged was my personal favorite, although for some I would imagine the most difficult to read but the everything was there to make the story complete at the resolution of the tale.
A few of the stories could definitely be "flushed" out to be longer but none felt rush or sudden.
Definitely going to seek out more work by the author now.

Collection short MM stories. Fine reading, recommended for ppl liking barbarian warriors, medieval stories, slave fiction. The characters overlap from one story to the next. Perfect combination of rough & dirty, love (but not to much) & submission. I really enjoyed and hope for more. Very sexy steamy with the fantasy element,they all had some BDSM, some of these situations are pretty brutal. But would prefer longer stories.

This book by Kayci Morgan was a very entertaining collection of stories that looked back at the time of nobles and sex slaves, which this time were males. I enjoyed how she connected several of the stories to tell the reader how some of the characters' relationships came about. This was a very good collection of short stories. I enjoyed reading them. Each story had its own flavor. They all had some BDSM and will say some triggers. These stories weren’t your regular love stories. Saying this, I really did enjoy them.

This read includes a colluction short stories with master/slave relationships. I found the stories intriguing and entertaining, I just wished there was more. Each story is M/M and takes place in a war-torn world where slavery is legal and danger is around. A good read.

A boxset filled with drama, suspense, fear, slavery, abduction, punishment, forced sex, beatings, BDSM & steamy scenes , these short m/m slave / master stories are well written.
