A young mage is stranded in a strange village when his master leaves him. All that he has with him is his friend Freckles, his pet toad. He wanders the city looking for work or a way out, but discovers that magic is banned, and goes on the run. When a threat enters the city, he must decide whether to continue hiding, or help save the people.

Brief but adorable and entertaining, The Mage and the Freckled Frog provides a taste of fantasy for those who just want a whiff of the possibilities of the genre.
Being that this story was so short, I did not feel as much of a connection to the characters as I wanted to/expected (although, that is usually my problem with shorter stories and novellas; I tend to expect certain things because I am so accustomed to reading novels).
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wanted a glimpse of fantasy without having to sink into anything too deep. It was light, yet packed with action, with a nice little twist at the end!
Another will written fantasy Sci-Fi adventure thriller short story by Craig A. Price Jr. about an apprentice mage and his frog. Both are learning magic while having an adventure. I would recommend this novella to anyone looking for a quick fun read. Enjoy the adventure of reading 👓 or listening 🎶 to Alexa as I do because of health issues. 2022 😮⏰
A great introduction to Drezzyk. Apparently abandoned by his former master, Drezzyk sets out to find employment in a foreign city. Unfortunately, magic is forbidden in that city. So he and his freckled, red frog must escape. But, as he flees, the surrounding village is set upon by a crowd of villains. A cute, short tale worth reading.
Action-packed. Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Great world building. Inspirational. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.
This was a very short story. It was more like the first chapter of a novel. Our protagonist is abandoned and must reach deep within himself to bring his capability to the surface or die trying. Even in this brief story, we begin to see the character of The Mage.
This was a delightful couple of escapades, but it's much too short. I'm left with lots of questions. Where is this little band of four going? Why is magic banned in the city? Will the wyvern like his thirty days adventure and stay with the others? I want to get to know all of them better.
Not at all bad, considering I didn't think I was in the mood for fantasy.
A quick fun read of a mage apprentice realizing his power. He is helped along by his only friend, the freckled frog. The Mage and the Spotted Wyvern is the second very short story in this book. The mage befriends a Wyvern and with the help of the frog they save the magician.
That freckled frog is a surprise. This is a delightful short story. I would have loved reading The Mage and the Freckled Frog to my children or grandchildren. Since they are all past that age, I simply enjoyed the story, finding a happy smile on my face.
The Mage and the Freckled Frog is well written and exactly as stated. An enjoyable though very short story. But it's well worth reading just for the sneak preview of the crimson claymore. I have read rough drafts of several of this authors stories on wattpad which I would fully recommend reading, you won't regret it.
What a cute and fun short story. I loved to get these little books once in a while. It feels like such a break from longer books. This book even has a little magic in it for me. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
