Lizzie is in elementary school. Her family, the Petersons, have a puppy named Buddy plus they foster dogs and help them find homes.

Lizzie is going away with her friend, Maria, and Maria's parents to their isolated cabin in the woods. When they get there, they find a box of three puggle puppies, a bag of food and note from whoever left them that they hope Maria's parents can find them homes. Lizzie and Maria have fun with the puppies but taken care of the three of them, each with their own personalities, is a lot of work.

Though this book is a quick read and directed at elementary-aged children, I found it entertaining. There is a learning experience and a puppy tip at the end. It is written in third person perspective and first person from Sugar, Gummi and Lollipop's points of view. It is the fortieth in the Puppy Place series, which currently has 66 books in the series, and works as a stand alone.

It's hardly literature, but I see why this series is popular. There's lots of good information on dogs (a subject of endless fascination with kids) and plenty of cute puppy shenanigans. I don't think the last minute "crisis" was necessary, but it didn't mar my over all pleasant impression of the book - which is that it's more readable than many early reader chapter books.

My daughter used to be into these books, and now my son is. We are animal lovers for sure. He checked a few of these books out from the library and has enjoyed them so far. He wanted me to read them as well. This was a cute book for young readers and I would recommend it.

My 5 year old daughter was given this book. It was really cute. It was realistic about the care that puppies need.

A cute and appealing beginning chapter book that will appeal to 5-8 year olds. Lizzie and Maria find a trio of puppies and work together to care for them until a good home can be found for all of them.

I am 30 years too old for this target audience, and it is very apparent. My kiddo loves the series and I promised I would read one and one was plenty.

When the owner got Gummi, he started to run around. When Sugar came, she sat right down and fell asleep. When Lollipop came, she was so hyper that she was jumping around like crazy.

Lizzie and Charles love puppies. They are super excited because they get to go to her best friend Maria’s cabin for some rest and relaxation. Their family fosters puppies until they can be adopted out to a good home. They get a big surprise when they arrive at the cabin. There are three puggle puppies in a box. Lizzie loves them, but knows that they will be a lot of work. She is on a mission to find them a home. This is a part of The Puppy Place series. Fans of the others in the series will like this addition as well. I would recommend this for any collection owning others in the series.
