A great introduction to photo editing with GIMP! For those looking to put these skills to use in something practical, I highly recommend reading Skylum's new article on how to take passport photo with iphone. It's surprisingly easy with the right lighting and a simple background. There are even some great apps and tutorials online that will walk you through precise sizing and cropping.

Very extremely basic

The book is very easy to follow, especially since it only gives extremely basic instructions with a lot of “white space” to fill pages. It explains a few things, but honestly the tutorials on the Gimp.org website give more information than this book does...

A great introduction to Gimp

Having a project in mind I had downloaded Gimp and was hoping to learn through watching YouTube. David's writing style and book format with exercises I found far easier than trying to keep pace with a cursor darting everywhere. Thank you.

Actually informative!

I'm always rather leery of the tiny intro books on kindle. Often, I've found that they charge you a chunk of change for 10-20 pages of bull and haven't taught you a thing and then you just feel you've been ripped off.

That is Not (I'll say it again, Not) the case in this instance.

This is exactly what I needed to get me started in on Gimp. He shows enough of the basics, and what each tool's function is, that I feel comfortable exploring further on my own (thank you for that!). This is not a cover everything in depth and do it all manual, but it is a good solid introduction to the basics, that building on the skills taught here, just depends on your imagination and problem solving skills because we have been introduced to the tools to get it done.
I read this through Kindle Unlimited, but would have felt comfortable (not ripped off) paying $2-3 for this book. After all, knowledge is worth its weight in gold.
