Unholy Matrimony

If Kaitlin O'Herlihy got one more wedding invitation, she was going to scream. Suddenly everyone--including her grandmother--was getting married. It was making a shambles of her well-ordered existence. It had also brought a certain Brendan O'Herlihy back into her life, as the best man. That troublesome ex-husband of hers seemed to be everywhere, making a perfect nuisance of himself. He was as maddening and exciting as ever, and she could certainly do without any pesky reminders that he might be the best man for her.

This is my first book by this author and I wasnt impressed. It could have and should have been an angst filled story but instead all I got was a mediocre second chance romance.

Kaitlin (h) has loved Brenden ever since highschool. He was perfect,in everyway. When he proposed to her she just knew that everything was going to be great and their future looked bright.........until something happened that changed everything and him.

Brenden (H) always liked to do things right and asking the love of his life to become his wife is no different. Then one catalystic event happened and everything else fell like dominoes.

If the writting wasn't so amateurish and if the author hadn't glossed over what should have been a major issue between our two protagonists then it might have been a really great, emotional book.

This was a rather short book by H.G.
Despite the low rating, I went ahead and read it because I knew her books would not disappoint - in terms of generating some angsty stuff ...
It didn't.
That's what I love about her books - they are filled with the angsty stuff - chemistry (no doubt), attraction (for sure!). And her main characters are always so hot and handsome and beautiful - which I love.
Anyways, this one was about second chance story between a couple who got married young but stumbled upon some hardship which led them to have a divorce.
Many, many years later they found themselves being the best man and maid of honor of their friends / cousins' wedding.
What I would have loved to see more was more groveling by the Hero. He left her when his cousin died - not knowing how to deal with the loss. He left her when she was suffering (she lost their baby). All in all though, I enjoyed this book.

This was a very good story that was different from all the other romances I have read. Kaitlin dreamed of the perfect boyfriend, the perfect engagement and the perfect wedding but sometimes things don't go like they are supposed to and then you are left with new plans. Kaitlin was faced with several weddings that she had to help plan for her Grandmother and two of her cousins but that was the easy part, the hard part was that her ex was going to be the best man and she had not seen him in four years. She had tried not to think about him and did not want to hear about him but now all she can see and hear is Brendan O'Herihy. This is a really good read.

Great story. I could feel the frustration and attraction between the two characters.

4 ½ Stars! ~ I'm thrilled that this story has been reissued as part of Harlequin's Best Selling Author Collection, as it's a true gem and I probably would never have had an opportunity to read it. Right from the beginning of the book we can clearly see that Kaitlin and Brendon have always been meant to be together. Through the pain and as the years have passed, neither has ever stopped loving the other. And as is often the case when one's heart is breaking, neither had the courage to really talk to the other and bare it all. This is a heartwarming lovestory that swept me away and held me captive until the very last page! This is a read not to be missed.

Great second chance story

I don't know how I missed this book before but I'm so glad to have read it now. Brendan is "perfect" as Kaitlin would say...and she is strong and beautiful. They have been in love since high school...it just takes some trials for them to get it right. Great book l really enjoyed their story.
