And here I thought I've read all of Ms.Le Carre's ultimate best...
And once again, I'm simply been proven wrong! Ms.Le Carre is a master of poignant moments in sexy as hell-romantic writing. SEXY BEAST is one of her best novels in which she recreates such breathtaking moments. A luminescent love story set against a trademark storyline of two people in love with one another, but having to wade through practical and emotional obstacles before they unite. Layla and BJ are a fictional couple who jump out of the page because Georgia makes them real and believable. The pace never slips and your interest is kept from beginning to end. My gut was like a roller coaster reading the dialogue between BJ and Layla. Emotionally and sensually, this book really packs a good punch. The characters and their interactions with each other are beautifully written with a strong emphasis on the emotional link between Layla and BJ, their special bond is strong and has real depth. It is passionate, it's deep and intense, imbued with a sensuality that leaps off the page. Though all of Georgia's books I've read are stunning, so far, I'd say this is not just one of the best. To me, this stands out, it's different from all the others. There are several twists and intense moments throughout the book, and the characters are diverse. i really liked the way Layla's character grew from the shy but spoiled little girl to a stong fearless woman, that still however, shows her vulnerable sides at the scarriest crucial moments. This is gripping at times, when faced with a devastating news that threatens their lives. So different from all of Georgia's books. This is also the first time she shared with her readers one hero's sex scene with other women other than the heroine. It was vivid, explicit, raw, but my oh my, it was electrifyingly hot!
Ms,Le Carre is a genius at describing all that happened in the past, including that of Jake and Lily's story leading up to that night, when BJ caught Layla in his bedroom stealing something from him. What follows next was Layla's come hither's vilifying "punishment" from BJ...and that was just the beginning, a wetting of ones appetite...so rousing I wanna stand in line and be punished! ;)
I clutched this book to my heart when I finished it and have re-read it. I feel an incredible gratitude to Ms.Le Carre when she brings us stories like this. She's made me laugh and cry, all her books gave me a myriad of fleeting emotions...terrified, angered, ecited, and this is no different. She gives you that sultry, Gypsy itchy charm, a cover for a multitude of sins and passions simmering just under the surface. She uses a seamless multi point of view to let the reader really experience these vividly created people in a way enforced writing, (single pov) just cannot flesh out. It's simply Le Carre's and the genre at it's best!!!
