Feels Like a Dream

Rate this book
Like most men, Kevin Parker had always dated women his age or younger. Then after dating an older woman for a couple of weeks (now just a good friend, Elizabeth—Beth—Fairchild), Kevin developed a new perspective on love and romance. With his newfound insight, Shelby O’Sullivan catches Kevin’s eye. Confident. Funny. Beautiful. Getting to know her, he quickly realized that she is the woman of his dreams.

Nine years older than Kevin, a history of less than amazing boyfriends, and a health history she feels is tarnished, Shelby O’Sullivan has avoided falling in love over the past several years. She doesn’t want to fall for Kevin’s southern charms and sinful good looks, but soon finds herself doing just that.

Is their romance a dream come true or a nightmare in the making?

I LOVED IT!!! I laughed, cried, got a little angry, laughed again.....and cried a lot (yes I'm a big old baby)!!! At about chapter 17, I hoped my "in my mind ending" would be the ending....and you didn't fail me Isabelle!

After reading the four books prior in this Dream series, as spicy as the first two books were....and Phoebe's story was a whirlwind, Greg and Tanner's story was a tender story of self discovery. This book was just down right sweet, as is Kevin....sweet. A nightmare in Shelby's head...turned into a dream in her heart.....so yes, dreams that may seem like a nightmare can turn around and become a dream.

I recommend the whole Dream series, they are fun, captive and Isabelle is an amazing story teller. I can't wait until the sixth and final book in this series (I don't know how she's going to wrap it all up in one book) is available.

I first read Ditching The Dream a few years ago and I’ve always liked Kevin, him being a really nice guy and all. So Feels Like A Dream was a treat for me. This book can be read alone, but it is best read after the rest of the Dream Series, to give the reader a better understanding of everybody’s relationships.

Kevin Parker has fallen inlove many times. But he has an undeniable attraction to one Shelby O’Sullivan, who, incidentally is older than him by a few years. Just when she thinks she’s got her life more or less figured out, Shelby O’Sullivan falls in love with Kevin and suddenly gets thrown a curve ball.

While Kevin maybe younger, he shows a high level of maturity and sensitivity. His personality is built around his strong family background that grounds him and teaches him the values that make him endearing. He is persistent and understanding of Shelby’s situation and because of his love for her, he has a readiness to re align his perception of family for her happiness.

Shelby has her issues, specially when she started coming to terms with Kevin’s attraction to her. One is that she is older than him, second is about her health conditions and third, can someone as damaged as her be really loved? Shelby tends to be pessimistic, but this is only rooted to the fact that she would rather not expect too much and avoid suffering a heartache. But with Kevin’s persistence, she learns that yes, she can be loved, and yes, she does deserve her own happiness.

Feels Like A Dream is a good read on an afternoon. The sex is hot and the characters are charming and relatable. I’ve always loved Peterson’s PoVs (third person, and alternating 1st person) and she used it again nicely for this installment. While most of the narration is through Kevin’s, she also has Shelby’s PoV. Shelby’s PoVs are short, but concise and gives the reader a better understanding of her personality as it really fleshes her out.Peterson also provided everybody with a solid family, who were there to support them throughout. While there were moments that the story sort of slowed down, she nicely inserted her other characters story from the earlier books into the plot, which gave this book a very satisfactory ending. Kevin was my favourite from the first book of the series and I am admittedly very happy that he gets his own happy ever after.

Another hit by Isabelle Peterson!!! This book took me right back into her world with all of the characters that I've loved over the last 4 books. This is book 5 in the dream series and like all the other books in this series, it can be read as a wonderful stand alone. However, I will tell you that you are selling yourself short if you don't read the series from the beginning.

Book 5 is Kevin's story. We get reacquainted with Kevin and get to learn more about him and Shelby whom we've also met before. Like all of Isabelle's books this one has no down time. The story is engaging throughout and never feels slow or dragged out. This story highlights the strengths and weaknesses of the characters as they overcome to get their dream. I ugly cried at points and found myself rooting for the characters just as hard as they had to fight through challenges past and present themselves. Lastly, I feel like the author read my mind and ended the book exactly how I wanted. I cannot wait to see how this series wraps up with book number 6!

So I am reading these a little out of order, but I loved Kevin so much that I had to skip to his book and I'm so glad I did. That man can talk in Spanish to me anytime! This was a fun and easy read and I fell in love with Kevin and Shelby. Now I'll go back to book 2 :)

Feels Like A Dream is book 5 in the Dream Series and we finally see Kevin’s story after we met him long ago in Book 1. We have waited anxiously to see the guy we feel in love with find his HEA.

First I would like to say that Isabelle does a wonderful job of bringing new material within a series. Even though I suggest you read each installment in the series because each one is worth the read (My favorite is Unexpected Dreams, Book 4), each book can not only be read as a standalone but every book feels new and fresh. Isabelle brings new material within the story, the love, and the sex scenes. Sometimes when you read a series you feel like your reading the same book over and over again and the Dream series is anything but redundant.

Kevin is the best of both worlds. He’s sexy with yummy tattoos yet he’s one of the good guys. He’s a middle school teacher and the man that is there for people through thick and thin. With Kevin you get the bad boy package surrounding the good man inside. I’m a sucker for tattoos in my reading material and in real life so it’s nice to see the tatted up good guy for a change.

Shelby has been through a lot and each day she still has a genuine smile on her face and brings fun and laughter to the people around her. She’s a hard working New York woman. She’s confident but still has relatable insecurities that most all woman have. She’s carefree and wants to live life to the fullest.

Kevin and Shelby are the perfect match together. Kevin helps Shelby see that age is just a number and when you are madly in love with someone these things don’t matter for the connection, chemistry, sexuality, and spending your life with that person. What matters is how you make each other feel and the way each spends their life making life better for the other.

This is something very simple and I will be a bit vague about it in concern of spoilers but there is a scene within Feels Like A Dream that was my favorite… From duel POV’s after a round of amazing sex we see symmetry in the thoughts between Kevin and Shelby where once Kevin falls asleep spent, she admires his sleeping form and all the things she loves about him both physically and emotionally as she falls asleep. Then in the morning Kevin, the early riser mirrors her thoughts in his own perspective, as she lies still asleep in the morning light. For me it was a simple part of the book but positively the most endearing. The symmetry in their thoughts is beautiful.

The Dream Series was something I took a chance on in the beginning and now I can’t wait for each new installment as they are released. I highly recommend each book to every reader so that they can fall in love with the dreams of each character. Izzy has brought to you and I another wonderful book boyfriend and literary journey with Feels Like A Dream, as I knew she would!

Review:
“I leaned in and kissed her salty tears. ‘Every time I think I cannot love you any more, you do something that just makes me fall in love with you more.’”

4 dreamy stars!! Beautiful and emotional!!

Kevin is used to dating girls younger than him or around his age, but his look at love changes when he dates an older woman. When he meets Shelby, he instantly becomes smitten with her. And as he gets to know her, he realizes she’s the woman he’s been dreaming of. Shelby is a little apprehensive, she’s had a rough dating history and her health isn’t the greatest. The last thing she needs is a sweet charmer like Kevin, but she knows the fight is useless. Can Kevin prove to Shelby that he’s worth the risk?

What a beautiful and emotional ride this book takes you on!! Shelby’s journey is every bit emotional as you’d expect it to be, but Kevin is the perfect balance to her turmoil! Their love is definitely worth the read!!

When you find the ONE, your soul mate, nothing will stand in your way, not even the past.

If you’ve read Brenna Aubrey’s Gaming the System Series, especially book 2 and 3, where Mia’s health was in danger, then you’ll know why the tears, and the anger from this book 5. Oh the agony! As the last instalment of the Dream series, we have the ending needed to an amazing series that was worth the ups and downs we all had to live through during our reading experience. How can I describe this experience when it’s still so raw or when even I can’t describe it? To put it simply, I enjoyed it. The only books I’ve read from Isabelle Peterson were her Dream series, and I’m glad it was, this way there were no expectations, neither positive nor negative, and as a whole, this series is one I truly recommend to all – for an experience no matter the age, tastes or experiences since you can live it all with these characters as well.

I really liked this book! For the ones that have read the other books, or even just the first book, this is Kevin's story! I know many of us were waiting on pins and needles to get his story! We first got to know Kevin in the very first book, Ditching the Dream, and he has been in the other books as well. (The characters from the previous books also pop up in this story and I love that we get to see the characters after their story "ended") I liked going into this book knowing about him already. I was super excited to see where Isabelle was going to take him. I also liked the fact that it was from his POV but we still got a little of Shelby's POV here and there. Both Kevin and Shelby have been hurt by ex's and they each have their own issues because of this. They each needed a little more from each other and I thought, for the most part, they each did this. With the hurt in common they seemed to understand where the other was coming from. They have other issues that come up that they have to deal with, some small some bigger. There were times because of these bigger issues that Shelby tried to push him away thinking it was best for him, but he never stayed down for long before he came back with a plan to show her just how much he loved her. I loved how hard he fought for her. Their story even took us a little past the typical HEA moment and I loved that it kept going where stories usually stop making it and even bigger HEA.

I absolutely LOVE this series!

If you've read the first four books in the Dream Series, you will remember meeting Kevin Parker in the first book - Ditching the Dream. This can be read as a standalone, however I highly recommend you read the other books. I'm not saying that because you will be lost reading this one only, but because the others are amazing as well!

Kevin is gorgeous with his dark hair, olive-tone skin, brown eyes, sexy as hell body with a few tattoos. Even though he hasn't known Shelby O'Sullivan long, he knows that she is the girl for him. Shelby is concerned about their age difference and what it may mean to them both and what they want out of life and a relationship.

Kevin finally breaks her down and she agrees to go out with him. From there it is a roller-coaster of a ride. They have their ups and downs and you will just have to read this book to find out more!

Isabelle, you've done it again! I absolutely loved Kevin & Shelby's book. I laughed with them and I cried with them. I couldn't ask more from a book! I can't wait to read what you come up with next!

50% into the book my heart broke. I knew it was coming, but somehow through Isabelle's amazing story telling I was so absorbed in Kevin and Shelby's world it took me by surprise. Isabelle Peterson is wonderful at creating a realistic story that takes your emotions on a journey. Shelby is an older woman (if you can call 39 older) who thought she knew what she wanted in life. She accepted things as they were, not daring to dream, but complacent in the single, independent, strong woman life. Then comes Kevin. Yes, he's younger, but mature with an optimistic look on life that has Shelby questioning her solitary existence. Kevin sets out to prove that age is only a number and dreams do come true even if not traditionally.

5.5 stars!! Sexy, romantic Kevin Parker gets his chance at an HEA! This is my favorite in the Dream series!! He was introduced in Ditching the Dream, and I fell for him in it. I've waited patiently for this. And Isabelle Peterson DELIVERED!

From Kevin's sparkling green eyes to his love of his abuela and family, his focus on Shelby, an older woman, is laser. He wants her and only her. Shelby has been burned by love before. She also has a secret that she's been keeping from him; one that she's sure that will make him not interested in her. I was saddened by her revelation. It also led to a scene that had the layers of feelings that felt realistic. My heart went out to both Kevin and Shelby. Their love was definitely tested.

Quote from story:
I leaned in and kissed her softly, then snaked my hand behind her head and tilted our heads to deepen the kiss. I loved how she kissed. It was confident, and sexy as hell. I pulled away and rested my forehead against hers. "Do I kiss like a boy?"
"Mr. Parker...You kiss like a God."

I LOVED that he was not an alpha male. He was strong, but could let her take the lead, too. He was not a billionaire, millionaire, or businessman. He was a schoolteacher...with tattoos! This has sexy, hot scenes and deals with a serious, heartbreaking situation.

My one minor complaint is that I would have liked to have read about their first date...awkward and romantic.

This is book 5 and can be read as a standalone, but I'd recommend that if you enjoyed this, read the rest of the series. I love the range of characters and circumstances. I'm looking forward to book 6.

I originally read the Advance Reader Copy, but I enjoyed it so much that I 1-clicked the ebook. This is my honest opinion.

Feels like a Dream is the 5th book by Isabelle Peterson in the series. This is my first book by this author but I will definitely be reading the first 4 books in this series.

Kevin Parker and Shelby O'Sullivan are the main characters in this book . Kevin has thick dark brown hair, deep brown eyes ,rich light olive skin. He was beyond dreamy. His body was sinful and he was tall ; easily over six feet. He has broad shoulder and it was obvious, even when fully dressed in a button down shirt and tie. Shelby delighted in the hint of tattoos from under the rolled cuff shirt. This man was a surprise and Shelby often found herself wondering what other surprises Kevin had in store.

"Shelby O'Sullivan. I know that you've said you are enjoying single life , but I would like to take you out. Dinner? Maybe some dancing?
"Kevin, look, you're a really nice guy and all but- "
"Nope. Not hearing it. You are vibrant. You are beautiful. You are fun. We get along well. I like you. I want to go out with you."

And that was the start of a grand love affair. I not saying it was an easy road for them there were plenty of ups and downs but that was the beauty of it.
I laughed and cried and didn't want the story to end. Do yourself a favor and read the Dream series you will not be disappointed.

Amount of sex - 4 / 5
How explicit - 3.5 / 5
Romance - 5 / 5 Overall: 5 / 5

Feels Like a Dream is the 5th book in the Dream Series by Isabella Peterson and is Kevin and Shelby’s story. I fell for Kevin in the first book, Ditching the Dream. I adored his compassion and maturity for his age, but agreed that Kevin was not a perfect match for Beth. I loved how he was protective of Phoebe, Beth’s daughter, and I looked forward to him finding his soul mate.

Shelby has been through a lot in her life with health issues as well as bad memories from past boyfriends. This has lead her to have a lot of insecurities. Kevin was so wonderful with Shelby, he was patient and understanding…. I fell for him even more!

I was so engrossed in reading Feels Like a Dream, that I forgot some scenes, which were mentioned in book 4, Unexpected Dreams. Ms Peterson does a wonderful job of writing and with so much emotions. I feel very connected to all of the characters and look forward to finding out what happens next!

This novel can be read by itself, but I truly feel that you will get the best experience by reading the whole series in order. **ARC was received in exchange for an honest review**

I was gifted this book for an honest review. This is the first book I've read by Isabelle Peterson. I was at a slight disadvantage not having read the books prior in this series. However, I'm curious to know how the secondary characters of this book got to where they are, so I will be starting the series (on my own) from the beginning! I enjoy reading books that have a "real life feel" to them. This book has situations that are easily relatable. Very well written story that will keep your attention. Highly recommended 5 STAR read!!!
Feels Like a Dream is Kevin and Shelby's story. A woman in her late thirties, a man in his late twenties embark on a journey to establish a relationship. In Shelby's eyes, she is "damaged goods." With her age and medical history, she knows she can't give Kevin what he really wants. Throughout the story, Kevin does his best to prove to her that age is just a number and that she is ALL he will ever need. A box of tissues might be needed while you experience the highs and lows of their lives. Will the course they set out on become a nightmare or Feel(s) Like a Dream?

FINALLY Kevin's story and well worth the wait!!!! Kevin has been trying to get Shelby to go on a date with him forever but she thinks she's too old and broken for him. Kevin finally gets her to say yes to a date and their love story begins. As their relationship grows you find out about Shelby's past and she finds out that Kevin loves her for who she is and what happened in the past is just another part of her. As with every relationship, they encounter bumps in the road but when you love someone you just deal with the bumps and continue because it's worth it in the end.We get see favorites from the previous books and meet Kevin's family and Shelby's dad. What I love about this series is that the characters and their relationships are what you could find in anyone that you meet in everyday life. This story made me laugh and cry but so worth the tears and includes some steamy scenes that the author writes so well.

If you haven't yet read the Dream Series you're missing out. This is a must read for anyone who loves a great story and romance. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book in exchange for an honest review

When I received this book from Isabelle, I was on cloud freaking nine, and let me just tell you I stayed there!! I first met my sexy teacher Kevin Parker in "DTD" and I absolutely fell in love with him. There's just something sexy about a younger, hot, spanish speaking man that set's me on fire.. He's used to dating younger women, but his encounter with an older woman changes his mind and opens him up to different possibilities.. In steps Shelby, she's the bartender at the restaurant he likes to frequent and he's got his sights set on her..

Shelby's. just fresh off a broken engagement and isn't really looking to get back into the dating scene, but there's just something about Kevin Parker that set's her on fire.. To say this relationship was smooth sailing would be a lie, but with persistence and a whole lot of persuasion Kevin gets his girl and Shelby gets her big family she's always dreamed of... Feels Like a Dream is another great addition to the already popular Dream series! I can't wait to see what Isabelle has in store for us next!!

Emotional true love!

I love this book. It was a perfect way to bring this series to a conclusion. You fell in love with Kevin and Shelby in book one. Shelby is an amazing girl who has been through hell and doesn't think she should deserves her happy ever after. Kevin wants his would to be Shelby and that's what he is going to get. He will work his butt off. Kevin has many obstacles to overcome. Only the truth will come out on the end for this couple.

OMG, I love Isabelle's writing. This series has been a roller coaster of emotions. This brought out all of those. I felt angry with Shelby and Kevin, at the same time I cried for them both. Isabelle has a easy that each character comes to life with their own personality and qualities that make the story flow. Even the supporting characters are wonderful and help move the story along. This is a book that you won't want to put down. You'll be addicted from page 1. I can't wait to read anything else that Isabelle writes. You will not be disappointed with this book. This book focuses on Kevin and Shelby. Everyone of course, makes their own appearances except Greg and his lover. One thing after another, both good and bad happen in this book of the series. In the end, really good things happen for everyone involved. It is truly a love story and inspiring to read. I cried for the loss, I cried for the blessings, hell, I just cried at times because that was what was needed. It is a well written book that brings me to tears, and it does not happen often. You should really pick up this series, to see what happens good and bad between Kevin and Shelby. You already know they get together from the previous book, but look into this one to see what wasn't said about their relationship in the previous book. Many things make sense now that did not back then with just the little hints we got that showed us they were together.

I love how this book was written. It had me on an emotional roller-coaster. There are not many books that make me cry both happy and sad tears in the same book. Kevin and Shelby are such an adorable couple and everything they go through just makes their story that much more lovable. Ever since the beginning of the series I knew that Kevin needed his own book. He had a lot to offer to any lucky female. Another thing I love about this book is you still get a little more of Jack, Elizabeth and Phoebe and how they are doing. Even though there is an epilogue in this book it still feels a little open ended. That's not a bad thing, maybe it was intentional. I hope that there will be more to this series. I would love to see more. Thank you Isabelle for yet another great book! Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Age really IS just a number!
Do dreams actually come true? Yeah, they sure do...for Kevin and Shelby! True...they did go through some very rough patches along the way but with an abundance of love, faith and courage they conquered the odds and made their dreams a reality."Feels like a dream" had me in tears...otherwise sad ones, otherwise happy ones...over and over again! A story that touches your heart and soul...of two people who gave eachother the greatest gift...that of true love and sticking together through thick and thin,no matter what. 5 beautiful & soothing stars for this beautiful novel & you,Isabelle Peterson!

I loved Kev and Shel's story! Yes it an annoyed me a little that Shelby worried about the age thing but I'm glad she got over it. It broke my heart when they lost Quinlan Marie but more for Kevin because he had to go through it alone. In a way I get why Shelby broke up with him at first but it was still very wrong.

Loved this book for so many reasons. Once again Isabelle knocks it out of the park with her books. I don't know how her imagination works so well but she's a fabulous author with many great story lines such as this one.

Kevin's story was a good one, tackling the subject of loss during pregnancy and adoption was handled very well.
