I liked that this book spent a very short amount of time discussing their thesis, and 2/3rds of the book provided scripture reference and worship. Not preferred by everyone, but it was helpful to me as I prayer journaled throughout.

This was a quick read. I didn't realize it was a companion book to "Glory Days", so I'm going to have to move that up on my TBR. I enjoyed the beginning, but the meditations in the back felt a bit like filler. Not bad, but I think they were meant to be read one a day, rather in the marathon all at once way that I did, so I probably didn't get as much out of it as if I had taken my time with them and really prayed and pondered them. I will be re-reading this the way it was intended to be read when I read "Glory Days". That may help my understanding and will probably serve me better than the rush job I did on it.
I would recommend it be read, if not in conjunction with "Glory Days", then at least with the meditations read one a day until they are done. The first one really hit me, as we had just sung the hymn that was quoted in the beginning at church this past Sunday. Our hymnal has a small bit at the bottom of each hymn, explaining the history of the words and the music. That particular hymn, "It is Well (With My Soul)", was written by a man who had just lost all of his children in a shipwreck and he was traveling by boat to Europe from America to meet up with his wife who had survived the accident. The words of the hymn are full of such hope that it nearly broke my heart when I was singing the hymn in church. And then that EXACT hymn was quoted in the first meditation as a celebration of the Lord. Goosebumps, pure goosebumps. Some may call it a coincidence, I call it "God saying Hi".
This is a solid 4.5 star book, rounded up because of the goosebumps.
This devotional accompanies the Glory Days series. It comprises an inspirational introduction that reflects on the time in Joshua when the Israelites marched around the walls of Jericho. As Max states, to occupy your glory days (our Promised Land) you have to dislodge it's occupant(s), that is, the enemy that is holding you back from realising your Canaan.
How do you do this? I'll let Max explain:
"Defeat your strongholds with the spiritual weapons of worship, Scripture and prayer. Move from false promises to God's promises. It's just a matter of time before your Jericho comes down."
The Day 1 devotional follows featuring a few words of worship (a song, a psalm), a verse or 2 of Scripture and then a prayer. Each day follows the same pattern.
I found this was an excellent way to start my day. It helped me tune into God. That's what Joshua did when leading his people, he tuned into the Lord and followed the Lord's leading which brought the walls down.
Highly recommended irrespective of whether you read Glory Days.
This was a very cut and dry book of daily readings. One scripture and a song verse or additional Bible verse and a short prayer. It lacked Lucado's usual memorable insights and anecdotes. I wanted a short book to read thru but I couldn't finish this fast enough. I often read 2-4 readings per day just to get through it.
I love reading Max Lucado devotional books. There are times I feel so connected to the wording and feel like he’s speaking to me. Please know it’s worth the purchase and reading.
I didn’t realize this book was a devotional until I began listening. While it’s written like a devotional it’s a good background listen in order to focus your mind on Christ. It is great reminders to keep your eyes set on things above.
Comfort in a troubled world, that's what this little book was for me. God sees us fighting a battle each day. The song, scriptures, and prayer each day is like putting on the Armour of God.

I truly enjoy Max Lucado's books, but this one was a disappointment to me. Gone were his explanations, which I have come to appreciate. This book was cold to me.
