This is a collection of short stories, all about romance and finding the one. I enjoyed getting a brief look into each authors style of writing without committing to a whole book. I think overall a great job was done giving the reader enough information (if there was back history between characters) to not make it feel like you were missing a major piece of the story. Which for me most shorts do. If your looking for a cheerful romance that you know will end in happiness this is for you. I was given a copy of this book for review purposes prior to release.
This is a collection of short stories where you can get a feel of each authors writing style. I love these sets it is always wonderful to find a new author. These are outstanding short stories about love, romance and finding the one, getting over old loves, pain and sorrow as the authors take you on a journey to find the right mate for you. Some have lots of heartbreak, other are finding a new someone each story you can relate to. If you love finding new authors you will want to pick up this collection. Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls Lourdes gets the surprise of her life when she walked in to her optometrist office and sees a man that looks just like her ex. The pull between these two are strong he wants her help she wants to be left alone. Things happen that bring them very close together but family is family and you do not over step that line.
This was a cute little read with a little action along with a few complications. The characters are wonderful you could feel the attraction between Lourdes and Henk. The author even throws in a little suspense with Dirk the ex.
The Spark by Ellyse Roberts This was a cute little read about lost love and a second chance. Anna Claire is caught in a fire with no way out until Ethan her angel pulls her out. From the start you can fell the pull from this two. Ethan does everything to cover come his past mistakes of letting her go.
I really thought she should have gotten rid of her now Fiancée before she thought about taking up with another man even if he was the love of her life. I did enjoy the read the characters where sweet, I loved that Ethan wasn’t giving up no matter what until he won her back. This story was a little rush but than most short stories are. It was a good read.
Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane Home sick and alone when Adele gets a call telling her that her husband is having sex with his secretary…this was a very interesting call while Adele learned more than she care to. This one call put an end to her marriage. Feeling down going to the store when she met her ex boyfriend who is divorced as well sparks fly as they find that maybe there is still something there.
Adele is a wonderful strong character she has many decisions to make. It is never easy to end a marriage or to over look the pain one causes you. I really liked this character as she works to overcome her pain and move on. Jack is just wonderful a true gentleman who puts her feeling first. It doesn’t take him long to ask her out. You can feel the pull of these two who aren’t letting any grass grow under their feet as the move on to a better life. The question is will they be together or will Adele forgive her husband and take him back.
One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall Coriander has a happy life with a wonderful man that is perfect that is until her high school reunion when her eyes meet the boy she loved long ago. Dustin had only one reason to go back and that was to see Coriander again the last time they saw each other things ended on a bad word. Now he just wants to go back and make it all better if things go farther that is okay too.
It is hard to move on when you are still in love with your first love. It is even harder when things end on a bad note when you do not want to let go. Coriander and Dustin have to face the past and make decisions to what they really want. Cori might have some help with that when she finds things out about her Fiancée. I really liked these two characters they respect each other and the people they are with. Feelings are strong they have a lot of past to deal with but finally talk it out will it be enough to bring them back together? I do have to say I really liked all the characters in this book even the 2rd was a sweet man that I found I liked.
Running Late by Caroline Andrus This was a cute little read as Paige revisit key times over the past seven years she has been with her boyfriend Will. She is running late as normal for her more so than most days she is dragging since she knows Will is going to break up with her. They have had so much fun over the years along with a few disagreements. She loves him so much she just isn’t ready for him to walk away. Will has been acting so funny for a while now as she gets to the coffee shop and walks in to face the music Will has a few things he wants to talk to her about one of them being their relationship……
The characters are very likeable and down to earth it was a good read I am just not into reliving the past I would rather it have started from the past and worked forward. This is just me and has nothing to do with the author or her writing style. It really was a nice cute read.
Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann What a cute lovely read over chance meeting and one man standing out above the rest. It was a fun read that will make you smile as you watch the characters come to life getting to know each other as they fall in love. I loved that the author sends a message of liking who you are it is ok to be a little heavy you shouldn’t change yourself for someone else only if you want the change for yourself. I adore these characters with their humorous ways. I really felt sorry for Charlotte she was a lovely girl. There is someone forever one if you just wait for the right one to come along as she found out. The doc was adorable as he woo her.
Love Weavers by Katie Stephens I thought this was a cute read even though this is not my genre I did enjoy this little love story. Since I do not care for witches and such it was hard for me to get into this story. This has nothing to do with the author or her writing style. I thought her style of writing was great and she had a nice plot just was not my cup of tea.
*********** This is a collection of short stories for everyone there is something here that all will enjoy. You have some really good talented authors who have come together to give you some outstanding reads. Some I liked more than others but it has nothing to do with the authors just more of what I like. I hope you will pick up this collection and enjoy it like I have.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have a few general comments to make about the collection as a whole and then I will review each story individually. First, I'm not particularly fond of the title of the anthology because I feel it made the stories predictable, and I'm not a fan of predictable. Secondly, there were a few more spelling errors in this book than I typically find acceptable in a book this size, but most of them were in one story, and it was a case of a female specific spellings of two words used in reference to a male. I don't think the average reader would recognize that issue while reading, so it's mostly only significant to me.
Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls I like my romances to have relationship build up, and this story just didn't do that for me. While I could easily see and understand her attraction, his motives are really unknowable because the story is told in first person from her perspective. Mostly, I think this story would work better for me if it were developed into a full length novel to provide time for a slower burning relationship build up. It wasn't bad, but it didn't work for me. 3 stars.
The Spark by Ellyse Roberts This story was chock full of detailed descriptions, bringing the story to life in a big way. I also loved the chapter headings, they were really a nice touch. I thought the story wrapped up rather quickly at the end, but that's understandable because there were almost certainly length restraints for the submissions to this anthology. There were also times where the verb tenses were off that made some segments kind of stutter for me. Most people probably wouldn't notice those though. 4 stars.
Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane This story is my fantasy (shh, don't tell my husband), well sort of at least. My guy is one that I never actually dated though, but otherwise this story is the one that I have saved in my head, almost to the letter, for the times when I'm really pissed at my husband. Because of this, I felt really connected to the story and I loved the way it played out. It really felt like the author took it straight from my head. 5 stars.
One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall Like the past two stories, this is a second chance romance, but it didn't sit as well with me morally as the last two did. There was just something about the characters actions that rankled me. There were also a few conversations that felt flat and awkward, in my opinion. The story wasn't poorly written, but it didn't work for me. 3.5 stars.
Running Late by Caroline Andrus I loved the way this story was set up, giving us what seems like the highlights from a long relationship, interspersed with present day events that transpire in a very short amount of time. It really made the story feel more intense for me. Even though this is a short story, it was very easy to see the relationship blossom and grow. Although the conflict felt a little manufactured to me, I think that was largely because of the title of this anthology. 5 stars.
Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann I liked how almost this entire story took place in a coffee shop (even though, like the leading lady, I don't like coffee). It was an interesting way to tell a love story, only through their interactions in that one location. I took some issue with the man's attitude near the end because I feel what he was doing was just as bad as part of what her ex had done in the past, just in the reverse, but beyond that it was a fun story. 4 stars.
Love Weavers by Katie Stephens This was my favorite story in this collection. It weaves together past and present to create a dual love story, one in the past and one in the present, but it's really more about the two women in the different times than anything, and their connections to each other. But honestly, I think this was mostly my favorite story because of the historical aspect to it. I've always loved reading historical romances. 5 stars.
Overall this collection gets 4.2 stars. I would definitely recommend it to contemporary romance fans.
This is a collection of stories about relationships and heartbreak. Some of the times the heartbreak turns out for the best, whether it's finding out more about you or the other person. Some of these stories I liked more than others but over all a great collection. In the end they all get their happily ever after.
ARC received from the author for an honest review. Review For Fallen For Books
Running Late by Caroline Andrus On her way to meet with her boyfriend, Will, Paige reflects upon their seven-year relationship and prepares herself to be dumped. Meanwhile, Will has something else in mind.
This was an amazing shot story. Even though it was short it kind of covered everything and there was no moment of puzzlement in my mind. I loved their love and knew what was coming even though Paige didn't ;) It was a very sweet romantic story. I kind of loved that moment when they both first met!
I finally finished reading all of the stories nestled in this collection of marriage proposals with my own.
Each authors style is a little different, so I think there's a little something for everyone. My favorite story (besides my own of course, haha) probably has to be 'Cappuccino Dreaming' by Louise Redmann. It's unlike anything I've read before. It's just so.... British!
I hope you'll all consider reading this collection and leaving a review here on GR as well as Amazon! :)
Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls- Lourdes March visit to the optometrists didn't exactly go the way planned. DR. Henk Bouwer looked exactly like her ex-boyfriend Dirk. Much less when he touched her she got a tingling throughout her body. When the DR. shows up at her event company she can't help but ask if he is related to Dirk in any way. Finding out he is Dirk's twin, throws her since Dirk had never mentioned having a twin. When Henk wants her help to talk to Dirk she wants to refuse. They hadn't parted on the best of terms.
Loved the story. Lots of background is given and the story flows nicely for being short. It isn't rushed.
The Spark by Ellyse Roberts- Anna Clare an architect is trapped in a burning building while she and two associates are inspecting it. She is rescued by a fireman that seems so familiar. After being released from the hospital she goes to the firehouse to see if it was who she thought it was. her first love Ethan, that just disappeared out of her life one night years before. With a fiancé that doesn't have time for her and a father who never wanted her with Ethan to begin with. Anna Clare wonders what would have been if Ethan had never left. When the truth comes out about why Ethan left, Anna Clare decides she needs to live her own life.
Great second chance romance. Ethan was so sweet. My only problem with the story is what happened to the fiancé. It is like by the end of the story he is just forgotton about.
Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane- Adele sick at home on the night of her husbands Christmas party for work. Her husband could have stayed home to take care of her instead of saying the hotel room would be wasted if he didn't go. When she receives a phone call from her husbands mistress that he is cheating on. Adele realizes her marriage is over and had been for some time. Picking up the pieces after her divorce she finds herself spending a lot of time alone. Until the day in the deli when she runs into Jack. When they went off in different direction to college it had been to much to keep up a long distance relationship. After dinner with Jack she is torn between trying to build a relationship with him or just going back to being alone and not get hurt again.
Wonderful second chance romance. After sixteen years apart and lots of baggage between them, Jack and Adele try and take things slowly. Both have been burnt but the old feelings for each other were still there.
One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall- Coriander returned home for her high school reunion. Not that she had really wanted to see any of them. She wanted to see if Dustin (Ice)showed up. They dated all through high school. After prom night and a night that was a first for both of them. Things seemed awkward and they ended up going their separate ways. When the sparks are still there Cori decides to run and Dustin comes after her. Dustin had never stopped loving Cori but now she is engaged but as his mother says not married yet.
Fantastic second chance romance. Dustin was determined to win back Cori. She still loved him but she had her fiancé to think about. When a secret her fiancé has been keeping comes to light she thinks maybe she will get her second chance with her first love.
Running Late by Caroline Andrus- Paige has been dating Will for seven years. Lately things have been kind of strange and awkward between them. She just knows he is going to break up with her. You would think after seven years they would be married. So many of their friends have meet people and married in less time then that. Running late to meet Will Paige thinks back over the past years with him.
Great story, it bounces back to the past and present and works it way forward through their relationship. It fills in all the blanks along they way to give you a complete picture of what they have gone through over the years.
Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann- After catching her boyfriend kissing another women Trying to be everything Calum wanted and he still chested on her. Meeting a man in the coffee shop it gives her someone to talk to and escape her pain. As they keep meeting she finds herself attracted to him. With him she can be herself. But would someone life him want her for herself. Calum always criticized her weight and pretty much everything about her. Here was a good looking man that seemed to like her for herself but how could she be sure.
Cute story, was kind of confusing to follow at times.
Love Weavers by Katie Stephens- Hannah makes jewelry. She is also a witch. When she and her friend Alvin are chosen right out of Art Institute to work with a famous curator. They both are excited. When Hannah needs to travel back in time to meet her ancestor Wynter to learn her secrets to making the jewelry, Wynter is to caught up in her own problems to take time to help Hannah. The men in both of their lives have secrets that they don't know about. It is up to the men to set things straight.
Wonderful story. Bounces back and forth between the present and the past.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
This is a wonderful compilation of short romance stories where everyone gets their HEA.
I was a little disappointed that all the stories were so short, but they were all really good :)
I great holiday read.
I decided not to review each book individually because I felt it would have been to repetitious. As the title suggests, everyone in these stories gets proposed to and gets their happily ever after.
As a whole I enjoyed this collection, this is perfect for anyone needing a few happily ever afters. As a whole I give this this collection 4 Stars. A few of the stories fell flat for me, I would have rather read them as full length novels, with more story and character building. I found a few editing errors as I traversed the pages. Artificial Tears by Charmaine Pauls - This story was cute, but it didn’t grab my attention like I had hoped. The romance could have been built up a bit more for my liking. Overall it was still a cute and well written read, but I think it would have been much better as a full length novel. 3 Stars The Spark by Ellyse Roberts - What a great debut by Ellyse, I wouldn’t hesitate to read more about Anna Claire and Ethan. There were some things left tangled in the midst of the short story, things I would like to see resolved. 4 Stars Proposal Unexpected by Elena Kane - The characters were believable, the narrative detail was spot on. I was a little disappointed I flew through this read so quickly. 4 Stars One Perfect Moment by Tara Fox Hall - I think this was one of my favorites in the anthology, for content and readability alike. This is the perfect short story, one of those lifetime movie moments. 4 Stars Running Late by Caroline Andrus - Caroline Andrus did a great job, I loved the way she was able to build the characters and story, all in a few short minutes (in the story). It is the perfect short story that still packs the punch of a full novel. 4 Stars Cappuccino Dreaming by Louise Redmann - I wasn’t exactly fond of this story, not because it wasn’t well written or entertaining, because it was both of those things. I didn’t like the male lead. Louise writes in an almost lyrical way, entwining great detail into her tale. 4 Stars Love Weavers by Katie Stephens - I absolutely loved this story, I am a huge fan of paranormal romance and this hit my sweet spot, it held my attention all the way through. 5 Stars
I'm honestly quite disappointed by this anthology. From the high rating and reviews, I assumed that this book would be well worth the dollar, but I was wrong. Though the stories were readable, I can't say I actually enjoyed them. I'm well aware that short stories don't really have the room for buildup, but I've ready wonderful short stories before that manage to captivate me because they were so well written in such a short span. These stories felt far too rushed and very cliche.
