Sixteen-year-old Sunday is a powerful Shade who is itching to use her power. But her mentor, Naomi, won’t let her go on jobs with the Guardians so she spends most of her time kissing boys behind the greenhouses, showing up late to lessons, and swimming with her cat.
When Naomi asks Sunday to do a job for her, Sunday jumps at the chance only to find out it’s in Tombstone, Arizona—where adventure sounds as likely as the town’s name.
Once there, Sunday pokes around and she finds an organization that threatens not only her, but all female Shades. Determined to prove herself to Naomi, Sunday goes after the group on her own only to discover that Tombstone might live up to its name after all.
Kimberly Loth can’t decide where she wants to settle down. She’s lived in Michigan, Illinois, Missouri, Utah, California, Oregon, and South Carolina. She finally decided to make the leap and leave the U.S. behind for a few years. Currently, she lives in Cairo, Egypt with her husband and two kids.
She is a high school math teacher by day (please don’t hold that against her) and YA author by night. She loves romantic movies, chocolate, roses, and crazy adventures. Kissed is her first novel.
I so wish the author hadn't chopped off the story where she did. It wasn't entirely a cliffhanger, but it was mid-story with nothing resolved, and terribly unsatisfying. When combined with book 4 in the series, it's a good story, but not as a stand alone.
so after finishing the whole serie in four days, i gotta say this book was my least fav. the main reason was that after everything the writer put us, readers, through with Naomi, and the whole "process" and "adventure" we have been through with Naomi, i felt like Kimberly Loth was making Sunday the good, likeable girl and suddenly Naomi becomes the bad guy. I had a really hard time "switching" the main character. i know that liking Sunday doesnt mean that i suddenly have gotta hate Naomi, but she makes her look like some annoying adult and Sunday is the cute likeable girl. the book is fine and i REALLY liked the love triangle, but making sunday suddenly the best character annoys the hell out of me- 1) suddenly Sunday is stronger than Naomi ever was. like, seriously? 2) Naomi keeps annoying Sunday and telling her what to do like an annoying adult (isnt she, like, just 2 years older?). 3) Naomi is (by Sunday) "mean" to puck. ugh.
look, I LOVED the two first books, but idk bout this one.
I'm thinking this author should have quit after the first two books in the series. The first one was pretty good and there was a lot of world building. The problems started showing up in the second one but the story was still good. What she has proven is that the world should not be run by teenagers. There is too much angst, trust issues, and just plain lack of maturity. All of the secrets everyone is keeping are just ridiculous and in this book ended up causing major hurt to one of the main characters. I have also noticed that there are hardly any adults around supervising these teens. No parents, guardians, or even mentors. With no examples, how are they supposed to learn how to be responsible human beings. I know it is a young adult series, but honestly, I wouldn't want any young adults I knew reading this and thinking this is the way the world works. I'll finish the series just because I've invested too much time in it and want to see how it wraps up, but I won't recommend it.
As a general rule, I don't like it when a series follows a set of characters then swaps to a different set of characters with books that don't stand alone. That said, this was done well. I like Sunday and I like the new dynamic she brings. The Naomi of book 1 is not the same as the Naomi of book 3 and I don't particularly like her anymore. She would be much more likeable without her significant other. .
This book had a great plot line, but it was not fully developed. I think if this book had been written with the care and detail that was put into book 1 it would easily be a 5 star. Overall it was good, but there's a lot of gaps. I'm interested to see how things progress in Book 4.
This just might be my favorite book so far! I loved following Sunday while she figured out her powers. She's sassy little rebel, my favorite kind of character.
Naomi rescued Sunday from her hometown Destroyers and sent her to live with Ginny. Now they're realizing that Sunday is an insanely strong Shade and are trying to figure out the extent of her power. Naomi sends her on a mission to find other Shades in Arizona. What she doesn't know is that she just sent Sunday into a pit of vipers.
Everyone is keeping secrets and it might cost Sunday everything.
Omg, the author is killing me with these endings!! What a great hook! This book starts off three years later after the ending of book 2. We get two POVs. We get to see more from Naomi and Sunday. It was interesting to See how Sunday is doing and how she processed her younger life. She is a rebellious typical teenage girl but she is trying hard to do better. Sunday is sent to a small town to investigate, where we discover a town full of mystery, and secrets. The story certainly captivated and intrigued me.
Book 3 changes P.O.V between characters, this really made a difference on the story imo. The plot took some very unexpected turns, I was both excited and nervous. Kimberly Loth delivered yet another engaging addition to this series, the new characters in this book were wonderfully written. I loved seeing things from Sundays perspective, she is a quirky leading character. This is definitely becoming my favourite series.
This was a great POV book from Both Sunday and Naomi. I felt like it was rushed and the storyline is supposed to finish in the 4th book, but not the best way to end it. I guess there is supposed to be a big cliff hanger and it is, but it feels rushed. I also feel that the characters are not that deep and we kinda all of the sudden see Naomi's character more shallow. Over all it was ok, but I feel that the storyline was a little predictable.
I’m reading the series because it’s an Interesting concept. The stories don’t pull at my emotions. It’s a good story but the tone is off. These characters are interesting but the way the story pulls together is odd and quite predictable. Plus for strong females but this needs some solid editing to make it come more alive.
I enjoyed this book because it was in a different point of view but it made Naomi look mean and like she did not really love puck I was soooo sad when Lincoln died because he was sundays cat who followed her every where even the pool 😔the cat had survived being burned by a fire and lived.

At first I was hesitant to pick up this book because I felt the Naomi, Kai, and Puck story was over leaving the chronicle empty of drama. Boy was I wrong! This book introduces Sunday as one powerful Shade who has her world turned inside out by those she trusts most. I can't wait to see the next and last installment of this series!
Be patient with me, because I can't exactly remember where Secrets ends and Lies begins... Sunday, a Shade that Naomi has taken in, is sent to a remote town in Arizona called Tombstone (what a great setting!) to see why there is no trace of Shade activity there, what Naomi calls a Dead Zone. What she finds is a rogue group of Guardians who are doing something inexcusable to the Shades, and Sunday dives head first into trying to stop it. What I liked about this book: I love Sunday's character. I can picture her so completely in my head! She's an artist, and since I have a soft spot for those, I like her even more. Sunday is headstrong and honest, but her weakness is boys. She enjoys a good make-out session as much as she enjoys drawing and painting. When Jordan enters the story early on, he seems to just want a good make-out session too, but he starts spending a lot of time with her. Just when she thinks she's getting into a good relationship, Naomi ships her off to Tombstone on a job. She meets new friends here, and while with them discovers that they're all Guardians or Shades. Wyatt, the new triangle love interest, is one of them. I like his character too - cocky and shifty, but seems to come to his senses about how dangerous the leaders of his group are. I also like the occasional shifts to Naomi's POV. An intense read, and definitely a Cliffhanger. What I didn't like about this book: A little quick. There was a lot happening, and it went by really fast. I felt like I missed things, but at least it didn't drag. Overall - loved it! I can never put these books down. That's how you know it's a good story. I would definitely recommend it!
I don’t know why, but I just cannot relate to the characters of this series. The only reason why I am still reading it is because I want to figure out what happens. There is not one character that I care about and it’s driving me crazy. I don’t get the concept of the roses and the cacti. The different types of power between the guardians and the destroyers are very confusing. I just don’t care about the relationship between the boy and the girl, and a lot of times I would root for them to get together, but in this case I could care less.
As much as I like the narrator, I wish they would’ve used two different actors for the two different POVs. It got really confusing since she didn’t change her voice for Naomi and Sunday.

All I can say is that I am thankful this audiobook was only four hours long and was free. I don’t think I could handled it much longer, and it wasn’t a waste of money.
It’s been 3 years since Naomi rescued Sunday from the church. She has been living in Vegas with Ginny and little Ale. Sunday is trying to make the best of her time in Vegas while training. She doesn’t get a lot of practice doing things that will help her. Naomi approaches her about going to Tombstone to search for Guardians and Shades as it appears to be a dead zone. There she meets Wyatt, Andrea, Morgan and Beth who quickly become her friends. She learns a lot while being there and helps Alejando’s parents deal with this death. Secrets hurt and this book is filled with them. I can’t wait for the next one to see how everything comes together.
Loth does not disappoint in this third installment of the series. I was weary of continuing with the books because it was painful to see the Naomi, Kai, and Puck triangle come to an end. More so because I felt there would be no intriguing storyline to carry the series. However in introducing Sunday to the series, Loth manages to not only retain faithful followers of Kissed and Destroyed but also captivate the audience with new developing events that will rock the Guardian-Destroyer-Shade world! I cannot wait to read how young powerful Sunday finds her way out of this messy world unscathed.
This is a another wonderfully written book by Kim. She left it with just enough suspense to keep the reader wanting more and I can't wait to start the final book in the series to see how it all ends. There were just enough twists and turns in the story to keep me guessing about what was going to happen next.
This one was better in the sense it did not have so many swear words. It was intense yet fast. I didn't dwell on anything for long and dealt with the solution. I rather enjoyed it. Each one is better than the last.
It was nice to read the story from Sunday's POV. She was a bit juvenile at first, but she matures and becomes a great character. I liked the last third of the novel the best when the action really picked up.
In this book the main focus is on Sunday, Naomi's protege, which initially threw me. However the book developed well and I found myself engrossed yet again. Great fantasy series.
Gah! Kimberly is killing me with these endings! We get some more questions answered in this book but end up with so many more and I really need to know what happens. I’m loving this series!
Not leaving a rating because I didn’t finish this book. I had no interest in the lead protagonist of this book. I was overly attached to the previous protagonist. That’s not the fault of the author.
