It's my fault that I started reading this pseudoscientific crap because I didn't check what "law of attraction" is before I picked it up. In short, it is an idea that positive thoughts bring positive things into one's life and negative ones negative.
One thing is - it being a ridiculous, laughable idea and hopefully obvious to a 5 year-old that that's not how the world works. The foremost variable that determines how much money a person is going to have, what the chances are that their child will die before the age of 5, that they will or won't live in poverty, etc. is the country which they were born into. Which is, obviously, a completely random chance. When you're born in a dirt-floor hut, and the school and hospital are too far away to reach on foot and your whole family doesn't even own a bicycle between them, so you never get any education, you can't reach a market to sell your hard work and start saving for a better life, and you mother or wife die in childbirth because there is no way to get them to a hospital for the most basic of medical care, I would looooove to see you positive-think your way out of that.
Everything else, you IQ, your willpower, your level of education, your willingness to study and work hard, everything else, comes a far second to the importance of the country you were born in. It doesn't even have to be one of the poorest countries like I described here, being born in Spain instead of the US already makes a difference because of lower average income.
Another thing is - I have almost never heard of a more disgusting, repulsive, vomit-inducing case of victim-blaming in my life. Because if negative thoughts bring negative events and circumstances, then chronically ill people, terminally ill people, people living in poverty all their live, people starving, people in war zones, people who die of cancer instead of surviving it etc. have brought it all upon themselves. (And if you're thinking: "But I heard that positive thinking improves outcome of cancer, congratulations, you are spouting tobaco-industry's lies which they turned to once they had to come up with something when they lost the battle of hiding that cigarettes indeed do cause cancer. What to tell people now? Tell them if they keep positive they can keep smoking.)
I can't believe people so immature exist. So immature that they can't deal with the real world being unfair, and impossible to control, so they have to believe in crap like this.
Oh wait, sadly, not only can I believe it, I absolutely know for a fact they do exist.
