A jack of all genres and Master of None, I like to dabble in writing most anything that suits my current fancy.
'Though I've been writing since age eleven, I hadn't bothered to publish anything until a few years ago, starting with my short story Old Pops' Last Beer. Since that time I've put out a few dozen short stories, along with a few novellas.
I consider my first published novel, Rave On to be a fiftieth birthday present to myself, having shoved it into the public eye on that semicentennial landmark. I often refer to it as a "magical, musical, romance". It's a story of what happens when a rockabilly singer from Iowa meets a mysterious magician from Romania.
My second novel is Suckers & Rogues, a coming-of-age saga set in the mid-eighties in which I examine teenage angst.
My third novel, which should be out by summer of 2022 is untitled at the moment. It is a paranormal mystery / horror about a group of ghost hunters exploring the secrets of an abandoned kiddie theme park.
When I'm not writing, I work with special needs adults or spend time with my wife and my dogs.
I absolutely loved the concept of these stories. The original and iconic 'monsters' of Halloween have found that they are no longer scary. Let's be honest though, have they ever been scary? Each story focuses on an ill-planned scheme to prove they are still the scourge of the night, but you can probably guess how that goes.
My favorite character has to be Skeleton, the poor unfortunate who ends up being dragged into everyone else's plans. The humor is sharp and current, especially in later stories where the monsters take on ghost hunters and infamous philosophers. I really hope we haven't seen the end of these guys!
Okay, so these stories are very cheesy, but in the funny good sort of way. I particularly like all the allusions to the fact that Skeleton is a skeleton, and Witch's puns, and how Ghost is secretly scary underneath those sheets. I really enjoyed the "Ghostpesters" part because I LOATHE ghosthunting shows. My favourite part, though, has to be when "Richard Dorkins", AKA the Amazing Dick is described as a "dull British man" and then when his book, "Religion is Stupid" is summarized.
Also, there's the part where Werewolf and Vampire devour him. Their punishment? Banned from the school for a week.
All in all, I would recommend this book to any horror fan, anyone who's ever read any of the "New Atheist" polemic, anyone who's ever watched Kitchen Nightmare, and anyone who likes funny books. Plus, it has a skeleton in it. And on the cover.

Very funny characters. I can't say I was scared of them (except that creepy clown lady) but I laughed at the crazy situations they came up with. Pretty original plots, and the cannibal-zombie twist was an absolute hoot! Great job!

Good thing I can get so many books for free, so I don't waste money. This book? Horrendous. Poor grammar, no editing, no humour at all. But it makes sense that Vampire is a character here. You know, why? Because the book SUCKS.
