Your dinner guests will want to borrow your recipe when you cook up some the satisfying delights from Amish-Country Cookbook: Volume 3. Like the two earlier volumes, this book is packed with traditional Amish and Midwestern foods. (None of these recipes appeared in Volumes 1 and 2.) You'll also find some surprises here. You'll meet the bread starter named Herman and learn how to use him each day to make a variety of homemade baked goods. You'll find two pages of microwave cooking tips, unlike anything in those high-tech manuals. And you'll smile at the generous sprinkling of country wisdom throughout the book.
Bob and Sue Miller grew up in Ohio's Amish country. In 1971, they started Das Dutchman Essenhaus, a well-known Amish restaurant in Middlebury, Indiana. In addition to the Essenhaus, they are involved in ownership of five other restaurants in Ohio. Das Dutchman Essenhaus, a family-owned restaurant, serves more than 7,000 meals each day.
