Chosen Different

Rate this book
An utterly unique and captivating tale that explores what the world might look like if super powers were real. Tired of the same old superhero stories? Try something Different.

The second industrial revolution is upon us. The Age of Machines has been usurped by the Age of Differents. Humans with extraordinary abilities now power our trains, heat our homes, and fill our bellies.
Gavin Stillman is a Different, but he is not extraordinary, at least no one else thinks so. They think he bears a curse and they may have a point. Gavin has no subconscious - he must actively control the systems in his body. He has to tell his heart to beat, his hair to grow, or his eyes to blink. He’s relegated to a job as a human lab rat, but he knows he can be so much more. When he finds a trail of half-eaten human remains littering Los Angeles, he sees his chance to show what he can do. But will he survive long enough to prove he can be a hero?

Nat Kozinn

Nat Kozinn was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up reading comic books and science fiction, and playing MMORPGs on a dial-up connection. He attended Northwestern University where he received a degree in Communication Studies and Political Science. Unable to find any communications to study or politics to science, Nat moved to Los Angeles to become the next great screenwriter. There, he was such an enormous success, his name was occasionally spelled right in the credits on the T.V. shows he worked for as a coffee getter. Nat now lives in Northern California with his wife and dog. He combines his love of science, politics, history, and comic books into the stories you see now. His first novel Chosen Different is available now.

A Different kind of read...

Well woven tale of unique characters that love, feel, hate, and fight for the better until the bitter end. Nice job!

Chosen Different eases the reader into Kozinn's the complex and fascinating world with characters that are easy to sympathize with and a plot that keeps you reading until the end. Written for both younger and older readers can enjoy, I recommend taking a stab at this book!

I was hooked on the first page and stayed hooked all the way to the end.

The further into the story I got the more I kept thinking I should go back and pay more attention to what XYZ or ABC was doing at the beginning. BUT, that is the beauty of Nat Kozinn's writing: you are so absorbed in everything that is going on (like Gavin having to pay attention to all his bodily functions) that you miss clues that become obvious in hindsight (like Gavin going back over his memories) - so the reader experiences the information overload that Gavin is constantly having to parse.

Even at the very end I was still guessing how all this was happening. I will pat myself on the back for being alarmed by the appearance of the Walters in the slum area: I knew something was up!

I found another favorite author.

Chosen Different

First book I read since getting back into reading at it was honestly really good. A lot is described in really vivid detail and the story of Gavin and this world of "Different's" is one that hooks the reader instantly. Some parts seemed a little outlandish, but for the most part was an enjoyable read
