150 significant art pieces from the collection of the Kunstmuseum Basel. Slightly more than a quarter of the pieces date from pre-1800, slightly less than a quarter from the 19th century, and more than half from the 20th century.
The format consists of color plates with descriptive text on the facing page.
The author was the curator of the museum from 1939 to 1961.
