My luck with the kinky reads lately has been less that stellar.

Nothing worked for me. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!

I thought there might a little dub-con. There were some questionable practices but nary a dub-con in sight.

I thought there would be some kink, possibly hardcore kink. All I got was glitterkink.

Glitterkink that didn't make a lick of sense!

Apologies for the spoilers that lie ahead.

This novella is less than 50 pgs and I spent well over half of those pages looking like I got a shot of novocaine and the rest cocking my head from side to side.



Confuzzlement #1:

I was under the impression that Kade had a history of submitting. Nope. He just wants to try submission. Ok, I get it. I don't get why he's on the cusp of breaking up with Trevor because Trevor won't "give him what he needs". Wouldn't most people wad into the kink pool with their partner to see if they like it? I mean, who can't get their partner to try a little bondage? A blindfold? A little spanking? And if your relationship is that tenuous why wouldn't you check out the local BDSM scene on your own?

Confuzzlement #2:

Why would you experiment with kink without your partner? Who you're supposedly doing all this for? Trevor instead undertakes dom training IN SECRET for a couple months to the detriment of his relationship with Kade. It's murky as to whether or not Trevor's even interested in kink period much less becoming a dom. It seems a lot like begrudgingly undertaken endeavor which bodes well for their future, doesn't it?



Confuzzlement #3:

Trevor arranges for Kade to undergo "training" at the super secret club and agrees to have random "doms" fuck his boyfriend bareback because they've been tested. Allegedly. Nothing says I love you like a bareback ménage with a dude named Razor, I guess.


Confuzzlement #4:

Trevor's undergone secret dom training for the last 2(ish) months and this qualifies him to train Kade in becoming a slave? Talk about the blind leading the blind. Also, Kade went from wanting to try submission to being a slave? This brings a whole new meaning to the phrase 'speed of light'.



Confuzzlement #5:

Why did Trevor feel the need to get a giant dragon tattoo on his chest? Is this his idea of the dom equivalent of a Superman symbol? Furthermore, why keep it a secret?

SO MUCH WEIRDNESS!

*brain explodes from an excessive confuzzlements*

The writing is juvenile. The dialogue is stilted. The kink is uninspired. The sex... *sigh* you know those Post-It "story" books with the stick figures boinking? The sex was slightly less arousing than that. The characters, aside from not making a lick of sense in their decision making, are unlikable and flat. There's zero character development and the vapid attempts at it were rife with the usual isolated millionaire who's bossy and misunderstood. Y'know the standard cliches that are de rigueur. There was a meager attempt to add some depth by making Trevor an ex NFL player who's largely closeted and black with Kade as the white boy who lurves sucking on his monster cock for days . IF Trevor had been the submissive this could've been a whole different review, but traditional size roles were maintained much to my dismay.

The ending with hint of magicians/warlocks read tacked on and hokey, but, I guess, it lends credence to the club's motto of...



Or else!

p.s. The cock is not a muscle. Just FYI.

It should go without saying that I'm not recommending this or at least it should.

3 stars! I guess overall I was hoping for more. It was an okay book overall, but again I think I was hoping for more. Besides that it’s a short read, that you can read in one sitting.

Kade is bored and annoyed with being put on the back burner with his on again/off again boyfriend/boss. He wants more, he needs to be dominated and he’s convinced that Trevor, his boss/boyfriend, can never do this for him. After a night of “passion” Trevor gives Kade an offer, he’s willing to start a relationship with him as his DOM but he wants Kade to go through proper training at The Peeping Hole and when Trevor feels like they are both well trained, they’ll continue their relationship outside of the club. Kade agrees, but he’s leary of what to expect. Without giving too much away, I will say there is some hot action in the club, but it’s almost confusing in some parts. Overall it was an okay read, not one of my favorites though.

I have never been so completely baffled by a story as I am right now after reading this book. The great thing is the fact that it is was less than 50 pages so it goes really quick. Also the writing is not horrible. It’s pretty good but the story, the plot, the characters….I’m left with a “what the F” expression?

So I’ve pinpointed my biggest issue with this story and it’s the fact that I cannot pinpoint one emotion other than lust between these two men. I wanted to feel that care and concern that they seem to feel for each other, but I don’t. I honestly…DID. NOT. GET. IT.

Kade and Trevor are boss and employee. They’ve been going at it pretty regularly for awhile now. Kade thinks Trevor just wants to keep things casual but Kade desires a serious D/s committed relationship. He doesn’t thing Trevor is dominate enough to satisfy his needs, so he’s ready to move on.

Randomly, one night Trevor asks Kade to meet him at an exclusive club. Surprisingly this was a very secretive BDSM club….and this is where stuff goes weird. Real weird.

I appreciated Kade embracing his submissive role, but the whole Razor thing I did not get. Trevor and Kade don’t seem to have any emotional connection at all, this whole scenario boggles my mind. I did not get how in one moment Kade thought Trevor had NO dominant traits then the next he’s the master Dom???

Then there’s Alexander…? So, right at the end we’re going to throw some strange paranormal element to this already confusing book…?

I honestly did not get it…I didn’t…..

Maybe if this was a little bit longer things could have been explained better but as it is, it’s not good, I just think it could have been so much better but things are all over place, just disappointing, IMO.

Ok, I just want to say it really quick and get it off my chest and be done with it: I did not enjoy the last pages of the novella... Just something that just didn’t click right for me. However, I LOVED the novella itself. We have a M/M hush hush relationship between a manager and his employee, with the latter wanting something more, more umph, only he doesn’t know if Trevor is up for the challenge. From that point, things get more and more intense: bring on the popcorn! Cassandre Dayne has a specific way of writing that simply draws in readers where you have two choices: either be drawn in the story or ignore it entirely. As for me, even though the ending wasn’t to my liking, well, I must admit, from the first page until the last one, the world was nonexistent. Honestly, I almost felt bad for my family, almost, because it’s a good thing they know how much I love to read and sometimes get lost in time and stories.

I really liked the sound of this book, but sadly it didn't really work for me. I didn't hate it, but unfortunately I didn't love it either. I knew before I read it that it was a short book, so that wasn't really the issue. The main problem was that no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't connect with the two main characters. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why that was, but I just couldn't make myself care about them or their relationship. It may just be that the book wasn't for me and others may love it. The BDSM scenes were really hot though, and that's what the three stars are for.

Kade and his boss Trevor have had a on again off again relationship for a while now, but Kade needs more commitment from his workaholic boss. He also wants a D/s relationship with Trevor, he needs to submit to his partner to feel complete, but Trevor doesn't seem interested. Kade is thinking about ending their relationship when Trevor surprises him with a gift - an invitation to a magical, exclusive BDSM club where he'll be trained to be Trevor's perfect submissive.

There are elements to this story that I really liked - I love the hints of magic at The Peeping Hole, the BDSM scenes are detailed and well written and Alexander is an intriguing character. This is a hot, quick read that readers of gay BDSM erotica may enjoy but sadly I can only give it three stars.

I have read and reviewed another book going by the title Shattered by this author before, which I didn't like. But I gave Cassandre Dayne another chance.

So corporal domination wasn't as bad as I feared it would be. There is the overuse of the words hunk and chuckle/chuckling, but oh well.

I liked how you get to know the characters, even though it isn't a long book. Both men are inexperienced in the matters of bdsm and instead of jumping straight in, they get professional help. I liked that as well.

The way the training was shown I didn't like so much. I missed the scene discussion, but at least there was consent talk. It felt a little rushed, too. The training, I mean. I would have liked if there was more anticipation.
I thought there would be more of Alexander, but apparently this wasn't his story.

There is just this thing the author has done in Shattered, which just didn't do it for me and she has done it here as well. Even more. I want sounds to be described not sentences like "Crack! Pop!".

So this book was way better than the one I've read before, but the author's writing style isn't something I like to read. But tastes differ and that is a good thing.

I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.

This was just as OK story for me. I found that the very beginning was very misleading. I thought this book would be more about Alexander, when in reality, he was in the story very little.

I did, however, really like how Kade and Trevor came together. While I was so proud of Kade for standing up for himself. He knew what he wanted and when push came to shove, he was able to clearly tell Trevor that he might need to find someone new.

It was slightly predictable, as far as the story line went. I knew right away what the invitation was for.

I liked the in-between, when Kade was with his "temporary" Dom - I felt that he knew exactly what he wanted and Razor was able to help him manage that.

Finally, the ending was strange. You see a glimpse of Alexander again - perhaps this will be a series? I have no idea.

I would also have liked to see more about Kade and Trevor. I feel like we had all this build-up towards something and then it was really nothing in the end.

I expected a lot from this one. Such a scathingly hot blurb! Unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations.

Kade sounds like an awesome guy with a hot relationship with Trevor that just needs a little more kink. But actually, Kade wants more of a connection.... and he gets more kink? And even then, only sort of. Trevor never makes it clear to Kade that he wants to play his little sub games, but then tells him that’s he’s been training to be his master all along! Not very promising, I think. And then it had seemed that Kade just wanted to enjoy being a sub, but instead is being setup to be Travor’s slave?! You know it could have started getting good and hot there, with a touch of dub con. But again, nothing nearly so interesting. Kade has to be trained by a stranger, who really seems like he’s just playing with him, not training. Then before you know it, it’s over, and a bit forgettable.

What can I say about this book....it was a good little read. You need to go into this book with the right frame of mind, you need to realise that its a quick read so you aren't going to get that in-depth character building and back story, but that doesn't take away from what you get! Its a good story and I enjoyed it. It was hot and had some really great scenes in it.
It follows the story of Kade and Trevor as they work through a tough patch they have in the none relationship they have. What happens when one person wants a relationship more than the other? Can they convince then they can give them what they need?
My only thing was in the blurb it mentioned Alexander so I thought we would see a lot more of him but he was just mentioned in passing really...so a little more on him would have been good.

Kade Thompson is pissed that Trevor is his boss and not ready to out their relationship and that he is not willing to have the D/s relationship Kade so badly craves. He has just decided to call it quits when Trevor proposes that Kade go get some training from a true master to see if he really wants to move forward. Kade goes, but is ticked when Trevor is unable to join him due to a business conflict. Will Kade be willing to give him another chance?

This story is not normally my preference, but I did enjoy it. More for the story about Kade wanting to find someone to fullfil his darkest desires and Trever fearing that his fears would cost him everything. I enjoyed the HEA with no cliffhanger.

Usually I do not like the M/M type story but this intrigued me. Kade like any other person is tired of sitting on the side lines wondering where his love life is going because his boss cant seem to figure it out and wont be open with him or anyone else about their relationship. No one was to see their relationship other than the one that a boss has with his employee. When Kade is ready to call it quits his boss, the ex pro football player turns the tables and changes his life and their relationship forever but will this be what Kade really wants and will their relationship survive it? Short read erotica!
