Tameless: An Erotic Romance

Rate this book
NYT and USA Today bestselling author Kate Dawes writing as Jess Gilmore...

For most of my teen years, I lived under the same roof with Wes Proctor.

He was a surfer. He was cocky and popular. Guys wanted to be him, girls wanted to be with him.

There were times I was attracted to him, and times I hated him. Wes had a caring, protective side, but also a strong self-destructive one.

When he left our house at 18, it was sudden, like he vanished, and I never knew what became of him. My parents never said. They didn’t allow his name to be spoken in the house.

Now he’s back, we’re seven years older, and we’ve been thrown together once again by the most unlikely of circumstances.

There’s a lot of baggage. There’s a major trust issue. There’s secrecy. And there’s sex. Amazingly hot sex.

He’s mature now and on the right track. His loud cockiness has turned to a quiet confidence. But Wes still might have that dark side. I don’t know.

In the span of just a few weeks our lives will be changed forever. We’ll find out there was always more between us, an unspoken and irresistible desire that is reignited all these years later. But all of that will be tested when it becomes clear there was more to what made him leave all those years ago, and Wes wasn’t the one with the worst secrets.

*** Due to mature content, this book is recommended for readers 18+. ***

This one was really well done overall -- great emotional angst and good characters. It’s a delightfully sensual and romantic tale that conjures up continuous plot twists and intense passions. It’s a beautiful story of second chances, forgiveness, letting go and sacrifice. I liked the slow revelation of Wes and Dawn’s past and the development of their new relationship.

Dawn is in a comfortable relationship with Scott, which seems to satisfy more their parents and their expectations on a future marriage arrangement than themselves. Dawn feels unhappy and trapped in this situation.

Wes knew Dawn in their teens. He moved in her family when he lost his family in an accident. His drug addiction was the reason that her parents turned their back to him and that he left their house at a young age. Wes’ decision to seek help cured him and radically changed his life to the better.

Dawn and Wes reunite years later by fate in a striptease party but they don’t know it yet. They feel a strong sexual tension almost instantly, but when lies are uncovered they are brought in serious bewilderment.

Dawn breaks up with Scott and decides to trust her heart in Wes. The book is sex-filled and the sex (love) scenes are wonderfully powerful. In general, I loved the characters and I agreed with Wes’ reaction to the confrontation between Dawn and her parents when a big and crucial secret from the past, that concerns Wes, is revealed.

The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because I wanted more! I wanted a story with different timelines, I wanted Wes to be darker as a character, I wanted a longer and better-crafted conclusion.

In favor of Tameless, I loved the different POVs and read it from the beginning to the finish in one sitting. This story has its cute moments, sad moments, moments full of love and moments full of heartbreak. Basically, it has everything that a really good contemporary novel should have. I do wish there was a little more steam, but oh well, I really liked it anyway.

DNF there be spoilers ahead. Some will have no issue and this was just a personal preference for me. But the last place I'm going to let a guy in a mask and I don't even know his name start feeling me up and suck on my breasts is a strip club! His career is seducing women. Just for a reality check to this he had probably been sucking titties all night so yours are not special! This isn't sexy or remotely romantic. I repeat this is just my personal preference and it could very well be a five star read.

What a brilliant debut from Jess Gilmore. Exceptional writing and s great storyline. It's hard to write too much without giving the plot away. Will the past ruin the future? Will they be able to cope with the animosity from certain people? You'll have to read "Tameless" to find out. You won't be disappointed though.

✯✯4 Tame Stars!!✯✯

This is Jess Gilmore debut book. It was short, sweet and to the point. I honestly thought it was going to be hotter. Like, much hotter and it wasn't. I liked but wish there was more.

Wes and Dawn have known each other their whole lives. Then, when Wes parents died in an accident he moved in with Dawn and her family. Wes was always protective over Dawn. The older they got the more trouble Wes got into. Then, one day Dawn's parents threw Wes out and she never heard from him again. It devastated both of them.

Years later now that Wes has straightened himself out he heads back to his hometown. Wes and Dawn both end up at the same place at the same time. But, didn't recognize the other one. Few weeks later they come face to face.

Wes and Dawn start up their friendship again. It's like all those years hadn't passed. They still know almost everything about the other one. Except that both had feelings for each other when they were younger. Unfortunately Dawn is dating someone. It's not a perfect relationship either. They stay together out of convenience. It also keeps both their parents ESP Dawn's parents happy. But, Dawn is not happy by any means.

When Dawn gets an easy out in her relationship she takes it! Wes and Dawn admit their feelings for each other. These 2 were best of friends and spent all their time together until they were 18 when Wes got kicked out. Both of them were completely shocked to find out how the other one felt about each other.

Wes and Dawn start to get to know each other on a completely knew level. Yes, they may have thought about it but never expected it to become a reality. Things may have been perfect between them but there was a sever black cloud hanging over their heads. Dawn's parents are totally going to snap when they find out that Wes is back and in Dawn's life. With no intention of leaving this time. Dawn's aunt and parents insist he's bad news and no good for her. But, they refuse to tell her why.Neither Dawn or Wes insist on giving up until they both get the truth.

I literally read this book in less then 24hrs. Dawn and Wes had an excellent friendship which made it a perfect relationship. They were robbed of all those years apart. And, for nothing. I felt like it should of had more heat. I felt like the people and reason that kept Dawn and Wes apart should of gotten at least a smack on the wrist. I also wanted more of an ending. I felt like it just stopped. Hopefully, Jess will write more. But, all in all it was a great debut

3,5 stars.

I did like the book, although at first I thought it was not for me. At the start of the book, Wes is a dancer in a strip club, and that is mostly a turnoff for me. However, it worked in this book. I liked both MC's, Dawn and Wes and the style of the writing is fluent and interesting. I kept on reading.

However, there were some things that put me off a little. The story of the ex girlfriend of Wes; why was that included. It served no purpose at all.

And the whole thing with Dawn's parents. I thought Dawn overreacted in a major way. Yes, they did a very wrong thing. But:

1. They took in Wes as a 10 year old child and cared for him. There is no indication they did not look after him properly. He had a camera, expensive surf gear etc. etc. Wes was the one that rebelled and started using drugs. It is not strange for them to kick him out at 18. He was a heavy user and had to go to rehab later.

2. Her parents told Dawn they did it all for her. Wrong as it may be, they did have a strong reason. They tried to save their business. I understand she was mad and upset for Wes, but just cutting them off as if it is nothing. Very harsh.

3. The stock Wes' parents had set aside would have been worthless (correct me if I am wrong) in a failing business????

4. Wes was into drugs. What would he have done with the money....

I started to get irritated with Dawn. 25 Years old and having a depression over this. I could sympathize but I also felt she was immature about things.

Maybe because I am older and have had enough family drama myself I thought it was a bit overdone. But overall I did like the story as a whole and would read this author again.

description

Wes moved in with Dawn's family after his family died when he was 10. In his teenage years he made some mistakes that caused him, at the age of 18, to be forced to leave their home and Dawn. He was her friend and protector. So, when he left and never contacted her again she was devastated.

Fast forward, now Dawn is in a relationship that isn't really a relationship. It's just comfortable and is bound to come to an end sooner or later.

Wes got his act together and is now working one job he hates and another that is honest work that he can be proud of.

One spontaneous party brings them so close together, but they don't even know it. Meeting again, they catch up on the fast and give in to the sexual tension between them.

Lies become uncovered and they are tested again and again.
The thing I liked best about this story was, there was no games. When there was an issue, they talked it out. When they needed space, they let the other know but didn't completely cut them out. The characters were mature and realistic. After reading so many books where the characters fight over stupid stuff and they don't even know what they're fighting over, this is a breath of fresh air.

I'm really hoping there will be a second book, because this story (while not a horrible cliffhanger) just stopped. There was so much more to be said and done and it just ended at an odd point in the story. I will be patiently waiting and can't wait to see what happens next.

Oh goodness, I loved this book. I devoured it in one sitting. I just couldn’t stop reading. Tameless by Jess Gilmore was sweet, witty, romantic, and down right sexy.
Dawn was such a REAL character for me. Someone who was in a relationship because it felt comfortable, but wanted so much more. You felt her pain, her wants and her desires. She was a genuine character that you couldn’t help but adore.
Wes was sexy and intriguing. There is nothing more I love about a character than to see one rise above what they once were and become a better person. A person that doesn’t let the past bring them down.
There were times that you were blissfully happy, and then other times where your heart was sinking into the pit of your stomach. It all blended so well together. For a book on the fairly short side, you get so much packed into it, and it’s amazing.
I’m seriously so hooked on this book. When it ended, the way it ended, I wanted to scream ‘NOOOOO!’ because I didn’t want it to end. I want more, I need more. Will there be more?! Gilmore wrote a heart warming, second chance romance that you, too, will want to devour.

Tameless is all about a second chance at a love thought lost. Dawn is in a relationship out of expectations of others and because it's comfortable. There isn't passion and love within their connection. She goes to a bachelorette party and has a steamy experience that she can't put out of her mind. She has come face to face with the man who once was a boy she cared about years ago. He was part of her family when he lost his own and left under extreme circumstances. They can't resist the attraction they both still feel for each other. When a huge secret comes to light it could very well tear them apart. I really enjoyed their story.

I give Tameless 4 hearts!
